Elliott School of Communication
The Elliott School of Communication seeks to develop well-rounded media and communication professionals.
Elliott Hall has been bustling since 8 a.m., when new adjunct Travis Heying kicked off our Intro to Photojournalism class and Sunflower leaders hustled to get the newspaper on racks after a late delivery from the printer. Happy fall semester, to all our students, faculty and staff!
Drone Videography students, Jeannie Qualls and Amanda Smith, shot this footage of the Wichita Habitat for Humanity Air Capital Build site during the Spring 2024 semester under the guidance of ESC instructor, Jessica Newman.
We’ve got more Habitat for Humanity collabs coming up in the near future. Stay tuned! 👀

First-place work created for the Society of Professional Journalists - Kansas Pro Chapter Wichita Gridiron fundraiser and for Fairmount College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, Wichita State University will go on to compete in the National Federation of Press Women nationwide communication contest.
Congratulations to Shocker Speakout finalists Gabrielle Rink, Annalisa Schoenhoefer, Trace Kesinger, Isabella Porter, and Michelle Phillips! And an extra congrats to overall winner Michelle Phillips on her policy persuasive speech arguing for aligning minimum wage with inflation!
Stress? What stress? So many students took a little time today to make friendship bracelets with the Elliott Ambassadors. Stop by their table tomorrow on the second floor of Elliott Hall. A few clever students even made bracelets for professors in attempt to win extra points — or get finals canceled.
Let’s face it. It’s been a semester. Need some time to de-stress? Your friends in the Elliott School are here for you. Come make friendship bracelets with us tomorrow and Tuesday!
Congratulations! to Wichita State University Debate.
Armed with questionable glasses from a parking lot vendor, our students and faculty took a little break from classes and work to check out the eclipse.
Tossing it back to the 2017 eclipse when students and faculty stepped out into Elliott Hall courtyard for the show.
