The Urban Farm School's mission is to help offer economic health, through urban farming, for unemployed and underemployed individuals in Forsyth County.
The Tool Lending Program is starting again! Are you in need of gardening tools? They are now available to rent at our office. Here's how it works:
1. Contact Cameron Waters, Community Gardening Program Coordinator, at 336-703-2853 to reserve the tools you need.
2. Pickup the tools at the Cooperative Extension Office (a refundable deposit is required.)
3. Use the tools as you need for 2 weeks.
4. Clean and disinfect tools.
5. Return tools to the office and pick up your deposit.

Soil testing is once again free until November! You can pick up test kits at the Extension Office at Fairchild Road.
Soil testing is free for NC residents from April through November. Once complete, you will get a soil test report back with information on choosing proper soil amendments and fertilizer. WELCOME our new Family and Consumer Science Agent Virginia C. Lopez! Virginia began her new position with the Forsyth County Center on Monday, February 1, 2021. Virginia is a former nutrition educator for NC Cooperative Extension in the SNAP Ed program, steps to health. She holds a bachelors degree in health promotion and will soon receive a Master’s Certificate in Public Health Nutrition. She was raised in Los Angeles, CA and moved to North Carolina in 2007. Virginia is married, has two children and is a Grandmother to one infant boy. Virginia looks forward to interacting with the citizens of Forsyth County and sharing her life experiences on living a healthier lifestyle through nutrition and an active lifestyle.

Soil Boxes are available to be picked up. You will need to mail them to NCDA&CS according to directions on the paperwork. Soil test now for your fall garden planting in August.

Postponed due to stay-at-home orders, free leaf mulch will only be available while supplies last on a first-come, first-served basis on Saturday, May 16, 23 and 30. Operators will load your vehicle from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Forum 52 Yard Waste Facility, 180 Northstar Drive in the Forum 52 Business Park off Forum Parkway in Rural Hall.
