MUSLIM JUDICIAL COUNCIL CONDEMNS ATTACK ON TUSAS IN ANKARA
The Muslim Judicial Council (MJC-SA) strongly condemns the recent attack on Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSAS) near Ankara, which has tragically resulted in the loss of at least five lives and left 22 others injured. This heinous act of violence is an affront to the principles of peace, safety, and the sanctity of human life.
As a community dedicated to justice and harmony, we stand in solidarity with the victims and their families during this difficult time. Such acts of aggression undermine the efforts toward peace and stability, particularly in the context of ongoing discussions regarding the resolution of conflicts within the region.
We call upon all parties to reject violence and pursue dialogue as the means to address grievances. The MJC advocates for a peaceful resolution to conflicts that respects the dignity of all individuals and upholds the values of coexistence.
Our thoughts and prayers are with those affected by this tragic event, and we urge the authorities to ensure the safety and security of all citizens.

MJC CONDEMNS KILLING OF YAHYA SINWAR
The Muslim Judicial Council (MJC-SA) strongly condemns the recent killing of Yahya Sinwar by Israeli forces. His life, dedicated to the struggle for justice and dignity for the Palestinian people, serves as a testament to the enduring spirit of resistance against oppression.
Sinwar's unwavering commitment to his community and his unshakable resolve in the face of occupation have inspired countless individuals to advocate for freedom and rights. His assassination is a grave injustice and a stark reminder of the ongoing violence that continues to afflict the Palestinian people. We also denounce the systematic actions of the Israeli state that perpetuate suffering, displacement, and human rights violations against Palestinians.
These actions not only undermine peace efforts but also contribute to an atmosphere of fear and despair.
The Muslim Judicial Council calls for immediate international attention to these violations perpetrated by the apartheid genocidal state of Israel and urges the global community to hold those responsible accountable. It is imperative that we stand united in our quest for justice, freedom, and dignity for all.
We extend our deepest condolences to Sinwar's family and the Palestinian community during this painful time. His legacy will continue to inspire the pursuit of justice and liberation.

The Muslim Judicial Council (MJC-SA) welcomed the visit of Her Excellency Hanan Jarar the Palestinian Ambassador to the MJC offices in Cape Town. The meeting, hosted by the MJC President, Sheikh Riad Fataar and members of the Council, provided an important platform to discuss the ongoing situation in Gaza and the broader implications of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Newly appointed Consul General Diana Rumhi accompanied the Ambassador.
During the visit, the Ambassador highlighted the pressing humanitarian concerns facing the people of Gaza especially following the events of 7 October 2023 emphasizing the need for increased international awareness and intervention. The MJC expressed its unwavering solidarity with the Palestinian people and reaffirmed its commitment to advocating for justice and the end of oppression. The MJC recognises the vital role that community organisations and religious leaders play in raising awareness about global injustices. We stand united in our efforts to support the Palestinian cause, promoting peace, dignity, and human rights whilst making every effort to halt the actions of the oppressive apartheid genocidal Israeli regime and its murderous actions.
The MJC will continue to engage with various stakeholders to ensure that the voices of those suffering under occupation are heard and that we contribute to a just resolution of this longstanding conflict. We encourage our community and the public to remain informed and engaged, as collective action is crucial in the pursuit of justice.

AFRICA4PALESTINE STANDS AGAINST THE ABUSE OF ANTI-SEMITISM CLAIMS AND SUPPORTS MJC PRESIDENT SHEIKH RIAD FATAAR
joins civil society in defense of Sheikh Riad Fataar, President of the Muslim Judicial Council (MJC), following baseless accusations of anti-Semitism by the South African Jewish Board of Deputies (SAJBD). He is the latest targeted of SAJBD’s baseless allegations of anti-Semitism aimed to silence legitimate criticism of the Israeli government and its policies.
Sheikh Riad Fataar, exercising his constitutional right to free speech, spoke out in support of the Palestinian resistance and expressed his stance against the atrocities being committed against the people of Gaza. For this, he has been unfairly targeted and defamed. His words were grounded by the principles of human rights and justice, reflecting the global outcry against Israeli apartheid and the ongoing genocide. The consistent labelling of any such criticisms as "anti-Semitic" undermines genuine dialogue and detracts from the real fight against hatred.
The term "anti-Semitism" has a vital and specific meaning, referring to discrimination against Jewish people. SAJBD now instead uses it as a form of defamation recklessly trying to shut down voices that condemn Israeli government policies against Palestinians. This tactic is both reckless and irresponsible.
South Africa recognizes Hamas as a legitimate political organization in the Palestinian liberation struggle. Supporting the Palestinian cause or calling for the end of the suffering inflicted upon Palestinians does not equate to endorsing terrorism. It is a call for justice and dignity for a people under occupation.
commends the MJC for standing firm in opposition to the apartheid policies of the Israeli government. Attempts to silence critical voices using false accusations of anti-Semitism is no longer going to go unquestioned and will never succeed.
We commend Sheikh Riad Fataar’s tireless work, not only for Palestine but for vulnerable communities in the Western Cape, showing his dedication to justice on many fronts.
Let us continue to stand united against tyranny, and in solidarity with the people of Palestine, as we strive for a world free from oppression, apartheid, and injustice.
