Did you know that the lack of knowledge about menstrual health is linked to school attendance? This is why our sexual and reproductive health lessons have a real impact!

Period blood is sourrounded by a stigma. We don't talk about it. We don't want to see it. We don't want to show it. We don't want to think about it. BUT WE SHOULD! Menstrual blood is natural. Menstrual blood is human. Nobody should be afraid of their period.
Quote:
Menstrual blood is the only bood that is not traumatically induced. Yet in modern society, this is the most hidden blood, the one so rarely spoken of and almost never seen, except privately by women.
- Judi Grahn

Think about this fact: Without the ability of women to give birth, you wouldnât exist. We should value that instead of creating shame around topics related to sexual health.

Period poverty is a societal issue and therefore itâs our whole society that should be involved in resolving it. Thatâs the reason why we include boys in our lessons and conversations about menstruation. With knowledge about each otherâs struggles comes the kind of mutual understanding we need to fight period poverty together.
We live because of women. You, your family, your friends - everyone you know - would not exist if it werenât for women.
Itâs a simple, but important truth: Life is created inside the body of a woman! We should see its value instead of being ashamed.
Fight the stigma! Raise awareness! Join our mission!
Today is a reminder for South Africa:
On March 21 1960, the community of Sharpeville and Langa townships, like their fellow compatriots across the country, embarked on a protest march to march protest against pass laws. The apartheid police shot and killed 69 of the protesters at Sharpeville, many of them shot while fleeing. Many other people were killed in other parts of the country. The tragedy came to be known as the Sharpeville Massacre and it exposed the apartheid governmentâs deliberate violation of human rights to the world.
Today, South Africa is a democracy!
For us, however, this day also reminds us of whatâs still ahead of us: While everyone of us should be able to live a life without burdens, millions in South Africa still bleed without dignity. We have been fighting period poverty for many years and we would like to use this day an an opportunity to ask for your awareness and support! What can you do? Join our fight by raising attention about period poverty! Join our fight by donating or contacting us! Together, we can bring change!

Look at us being at a conference with mosaic! We had great conversations and enjoyed the time we spend networking!
Today, we had a lot of fun at Christel House! We talked with three very engaged classes about reproductive health, period myths, hygiene and body changes in puberty. But not only that! We also brought them five boxes, each including 192 pads. They will be distributed to Christel House student girls by the school. Do you want to support the campaign? Either visit our website (link in bio) or go directly to qkt.io/SHEMATTERS!
Our campaign is running till the end of may! Every day is an opportunity to bring change and build a better future. Every penny is a step towards less period poverty - meaning more hygiene, more safety and more confidence to speak about topics related to sexual health. Go to qkt.io/SHEMATTERS to become a donor today.
Starting a series on period myths. If you know about period myths you want us to bring up, send us a message!

In the comment section in your own words what would no period poverty look like in your school, home or community, And what would the opportunities look like if sanitary pads are not something to stress about for girls.

Without education there cannot be any understanding and with no engagement, questions asked and answered there cannot be changed behavior. Teaching students and listining to them is equally important to bring understanding. That's what our interns are doing here with the students. We don't just teach we have meaningful conversation that are uncomfortable yet so needed to assist our youth to make sound choices around their reproductive health. and thank you for the outstanding work you are doing for and in our program.
We are intentional about making period impact. There is no eqaulity without menstrual health making sure girls have access to menstrual products to be fully present for their education.
