Our Story
In 2018, close to 500 000 students did not make it through their 12 year schooling journey from Grade 1 to Grade 12. After-school programs play a vital role in keeping students engaged in schooling so that they can complete their matric, most effectively impacting students who have limited access to resources and opportunities. These after-school programs provide a place of hope where children feel seen and known by name.
However, since many of these after-school programs are located in poor, high risk communities with little to no resources, it is an ongoing battle to keep their doors open and many find it difficult to provide holistic, quality academic support. With 10 years of experience in the after-school program sector, Outliers has seen first hand the value of these spaces and what losing a place of hope means to students and communities. To ensure that these programs are sustainable and continue to meet the high demands placed on them, Outliers builds their capacity through training and resourcing.
