Desire vs Capacity
Desire is of the mind, unrestrained by the realities and limitations of the physical realm
Capacity is of the body with all of its boundaries and needs.
Working towards that which we desire is great. having dreams, and ambitions spurs us forward and adds colour to our lived experience.
when we ignore the body and push past our capacity again and again because capitalism demands it of us, because we will disappoint those we love if we don't, we step deeper into poor mental and physical health and burnout.
Of course we want to do it all there is so much to be done but as the saying goes you cannot pour from an empty cup.
Society, social media, the powers that be are not going to give us permission to slow down. To listen to our bodies. To change the way we move through the world.
Lucky for you and I, we don't need permission and we have each other!
when we collectively respect our own boundaries, act from within our capacity and accept and encourage those around us doing the same, when we listen deeply to our body and the earth of which we are a part we individually and collectively create the fertile ground from which all else can grow.
I desire to run workshops and see clients, to cocreate with other artists, practitioners and activists and when I check in with my body there is no capacity for that in a consistent way right now. And I no longer see that as a bad thing because by taking the rest i need and doing my own healing work I'm finally integrating the knowledge I sought to help others.
✨Where is there conflict between desire and capacity in your life? And how could/ are you leaning into making space for and celebrating your limitations?✨
UPDATE:
I'm in Lismore on WIDJABUL WIA-BAL Country and I am offering free 1:1 relaxation and trauma processing breathwork and embodiment sessions to flood affected people locally as well as volunteering at the Northern Rivers Community Healing Hub.
Im also available for 1:1 sessions by donation for the forseable.
Backstory:
After 2 months of rest and self care and a deep break from work and study I embarked on a big life changing move from share house life in Naarm to vanlife Lismore. Little did I know what 🌏 had in store.
The northern Rivers region, My new home and home to so many I love and consider my family has been devastated by 2 major weather events in the past month causing major flooding and land slides, leaving many without homes, belongings, and lively hoods not to mention the loss of life, human, animal and plant alike.
It's a very difficult time right now for all the collective trauma is immense but so is the collective care. I am witnessing a community coming together in incredible and First nations led ways and am glad to be a part of it.
I moved up here to find stability and stillness and instead found upheaval and chaos. I won't lie this has been challenging... Within this melting pot of mud and emotions there is incredible strength and I wouldn't want to be anywhere else right now.
Photo: me helping to install the grateful hearts pop up instilation at the trees not bombs cafe a week ago before the 2nd flood.
Sh*ts hectic right now don't forget to breath!
This time of year is overwhelming at the best of times and covid ain't helping.
But no matter what happens you've got you.
Take space to recharge
Let yourself feel your emotion however "ugly"
And self sooth as needed
You are precious loved and worthy
Keep breathing
My vision for Transense is to support people to build a connected compassionate relationship with themselves from which they can connect to their world and those in it from a grounded and inspired place.
All the content I share, sessions I run and events I create come from this place. When I find myself overwhelmed or stressed or lost on my journey, I come back to my why and the way for forward becomes a little clearer.
I began my breathwork journey as a way to find meaning in my life, i was stuck in old loops and blinded to my worth and potential by deeply engrained self limiting beliefs and behaviours. My life felt stagnant and hollow despite being full of beautiful humans and ample opportunities for creativity abundance.
Establishing a relationship with my own breath helped me reconnect with my self in an embodied way that quickly lead to an increased sense of self worth and empowered me to break out of my loops.
My mission is to be a part of the global community doing the work to co create a better world. one that honours our sacred planet and its traditional custodians, and treats all its inhabitants with equity. as a breath-work and embodiment practitioner i can support others in their self discovery and growth journeys By holding space for them to explore their inner beings, process their trauma, and experience pleasure and connection. When we heal our selves we can break the cycles and move forward together towards abundance and harmony.
What sits at the heart of who you do in this life?💓What is you your why?
Easyer said than done!
But we both know looping over that which we cannot control takes us away from enjoying what is right in front of us. And rarely if never helps the situation.
How would it feel reframe not knowing how to proceed as being open to insights, Inspiration and opportunity?
The journey out of the head and into the body opens the door for intuition to guide our way.
Let your next exhale be a surrender to the unknown you might be surprised what possibilities lie in your next inhale

I love that breathwork is such an accessible. And potable life enhancer. Any situation can be made better by bringing concious awareness to the breath.
At the end of a lush bush walk this weekend past we found ourselves at the edge of this stunning icy lake the sky was grey and the breeze cool be we knew a dip would be worth it so we sat on the banks and did some wim hof breathing before taking the plunge.
As you can see we emerged envigorated. My cells energised my skin tingling and my outlook refreshed.
I'd love to hear your favourite stories of when your breath has enhanced your lived experience!
Support the aspects of your nervous system that are regulated.
notice your steady hand, your deep breath, your calm belly.
when you bring your attention to the physiology of regulation within, you slow down.
the feed back loop created by your noticing tells your body that you are safe and can rest and restore a baseline of calm yet engaged attention to your present environment.
Self regulation through your own attention will help you move from surviving to thriving!
How does your body communicate to you that you are safe, calm and comfortable?
familiarise yourself with what that feels like in your body and meet it with your breath.
struggling to form better habits?
Your brain doesn’t differentiate between good or bad healthy or unhealthy it just uses the strongest neural pathways available.
The more you repeat a behaviour/ habit the stronger the associated neural pathway becomes conversely the less you use a pathway the Weaker it becomes. you can use this principle to rewrite your brain and make the shift to behaviours and patterns that you want in your life.
I am moving away from mindless scrolling towards creative projects like this painting. I add to it when I remember to take a mindful pause and come back to my body and breath. the collective marks are a celebration of my progress and dopamine fodder for the new mural pathways I am creating.
Be it till you are it,
lasting change takes time And when you do slip into self destructive behaviour and self limiting thought patterns remember you are human and deserve patience and compassion. focus on your progress, celebrate your wins and keep going you got this.
Whose in your house today ?
Have you offered them a cut of tea or asked them what they need?
Loving this poem
A welcome perspective in the quest for inner peace and self compassion
F**k capitalism funded productivity culture!
your bodies biology is literally optimised for handling short term stresses interspersed with generous helpings of system regulating down time.
It’s time to slow down and listen to your body.

Regulate stress by creating a rhythm that supports your bodies adrenal system! This will be different for everyone find what works for you but a nourishing sustainable rhythm should include good sleep hygiene, time in nature, deep rest, regular good nutrition, dedicated leisure and social time.]

🔳 Like this box has 4 sides
🫁this breath has 4 parts
Inhale for 4 counts
Hold for 4
Exhale for 4
Hold for 4
Repeat
Avoid tensing up when you hold the breath think of it more as extended pause.
Box breathing is a great breath exercise to try anytime that you want to cultivate a balanced or natural state. And can be a great way to prepare yourself 4 stressful event or complex activity.
Finished setting my home breathwork studio today!

Now to acquire a QR code and polish my covid plan.
Lockdown's over. Exciting right!
Well yes but it's not that simple. We have just been through a traumatic 2 years of having our sense of autonomy toyed with and our connection to the things that give our life meaning taken away.
Our nervous systems have been in fight/ flight or freeze for so long it's going to take time to come back into a sustained state of relaxed and energised calm.
There's lots of things we can do to support our selves and each other through this but the biggest one is compasion.
You might want to party and play and celebrate and do all the things but it's also very understandable if your feeling tentative and fatigued and clunky too.
We are whole people with many parts that all need love care and patience. keep listening to your body and stay connected to your breath
We got this!
*this is not an anti lockdown post, I acknowledge it's necessity whilst grieving the toll it has taken on us all.
Yesterday I received a powerful breathwork session from Jen O'Bryan. I went deep into my body guided by my breath and tapped into some deeply held anger and grief arround being unwell and intern being so mean to myself about that. At times the physical sensations I experienced were really intense overwhelming tension in my muscles intense tingling and vibration of energy through my whole body and waves of shaking. I was held with empathy and Grace through this whole process and came through to the other side feeling calm and full of self compassion and even a little joyful which was big because I had been feeling really awful all day leading up to the session.
As I integrate all that my body showed me its really sinking in for me that I have been pushing and striving to be better and even though I've slowed down alot and have been deep in self care land I've been judging myself for not meeting expectations. And this inner conflict has been quite debilitating.
Despite logically knowing that my worth as a human being is not based on my productivity the patterns and behaviours that keep me stuck in that loop are deeply ingrained in my being.
Rewriting the scripts programmed into our subconscious by familial and societal expectations is hard and capitalism does its best to brain wash us everyday through its systems that are woven into all aspects of our lives
I don't have the answers nor is there a one size fits all solution, but I am on the path to designing my life to actually fit my needs and capacities so that I can contribute in ways that are meaningful.
For me and my journey one of the ways that I'm doing this is really looking at how I organise my time I have chronic fatigue and ADHD so this is something I really struggle with so today I sat down and looked at what I can practically do to set and meet realistic expectations for myself.
What I came up with is what works for me but I wanted to share because if my process helps just one other person be kinder to themselves and find a way to rewrite their scripts then it was worth it.

Open notebook on a desk that reads:
Organising my time
1) brain dump a week to do list of all the things I need to achieve that week
2) a tribute only the items that are time sensitive to the appropriate days
3) each day wake up and do an energy matched morning routine that nourishes and prepares me for my day (including meds)
4) sit down and go through the week list and pull out the items that feel matched to where I'm at mood and energy wires and fit well in the context of what else is planned that day.
5) take breath and water breaks regularly enjoy these moments of presense.
6) check my energy levels and Pace and adjust as needed
7)PRACTICE NON JUDGEMENT AND COMPASSION AT ALL TIMES; TOWARDS SELF
8) REMEMBER MY WORTH HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH MY PRODUCTIVITY.]

we may not be able to gather and breathe together at the moment but that doesn't mean we can be present with our breath.
the way we breathe effects our physical and mental health. two things that need a lot of sport and nurturing always but especially at the moment.
how do you breath?
The correct way to breathe in If you suffer from upset stomach, insomnia, and anxiety, it may be because you've been breathing wrong. Psychologist and author of "Breathe", Dr. Belisa Vran...
Lets breathe some life into this lockdown;

Starting at 10am SA time, 10.30 for those of you in qld, nsw and vic. we will share in some extatic dance to come into connection with our selves and each other followed by a 10min alchemy meditation and 30min breathwork finishing up with journalling and shares.
See event for more details.
Hope to see you there.
The future and the past take up so much Space in our minds that we often forget what it feels like to be truely pressent.
As someone with ADHD anxiety and depression my mind is a very busy place. I often find myself consumed by the activity of my mind disconnected from my body and the pleasure of the now.
I've been particularly struggling with this the past week spiralling pretty deep into mental chaos and emotional hopelessness. Rests acceptance and compassion for my wounded child was my first response and once some stability had been achieved I turned my attention to changing my state disentangling from story and comming into pressence.
To be disconnected from the mind, all senses open in stillness and connection to your body and the world arround you is invaluable. In this state your essence can be felt and seen free of story and mental clatter and the wisdom of your body, soul and the energies around you can be accessed.
Mindfulness meditation is great for this but for alot of people sitting still with the mind does not feel safe and results in a louder mind rather than a quieter one.
So what else can you do to access this state of mind free true pressense? There are so many ways and your body is the key some of my faves include
-dancing/movement meditation; sinc your movements with your breath and bring your focus to the sensations in your body
-walking/running/climbing/sitting in nature realy take in your surroundings with your senses and observe how your body respond stay curios as you explore the interplay between your inner and outer world's.
-Concious connected breath; deepening and connecting our breaths conciously raises the energy I. Our being this activation opens us to non ordinary state's which facilitate openness and connection to our inner world.
The work is never done and somedays it feels impossible. healing isnt linear but we do each hold the power to create our own reality. So whenever you can remember and feel safe to do so take the opportunity to come into pressense let the richness of the now feed your soul.
Picture of morialta falls, from my walk today. for a moment the cold spray of the falls, smells off the bush and feeling of my breath in my achy bod brought me back to my self as a Facet of the abundant whole.
Holding empathy and gratitude.
Last night I facilitated my first in-person group breathwork in months due to covid restrictions.
I was tired and frazzled and full of self doubt but I followed my own advice and sat in curious observance and tried to let go of expectation and judgement and be present for what was unfolding.
An amazing group of 10 people showed up, none of whom had breathed with me before.
And to them I say,
It was an honour and a privilege to be trusted with your process and stories and to hold space for your being, body and Breath.
I did not have answers to all or your questions and my inner critic was quite vocal at times. But here I sit in the light of the next day honouring what was and showing myself love and compassion for doing my best.
There is always more to learn, here's to cocreating spaces where we can do this together.
I am learning to trust my body and trust my breath thankyou for trusting in me to help you do the same.
What is the Conscious Connected Breath and Why work with it?
Breath is the essence that keeps us alive in the physical body. However you choose to go about it Creating a loving and conscious relationship with your own breath will have tangible effects on all aspects of your health and wellbeing.
I work with the breath in many ways both in my own practice and with clients including breath awareness and relaxation techniques and the conscious connected breath.
The main technique that I use for my guided journeys both in my one on one sessions and group breaths is the conscious connected breath; a faster than normal circular breath in and out through the mouth or nose with the emphasis on a full and deep inhale and relaxed exhale. so I thought I would take the time to tell you a little bit about the benefits of working with this style of breath.
Releases tension
The process of consciously connecting the inhale to the exhale in a relaxed manner allows the breath to release tension in the body caused by trapped and suppressed emotions. Staying with this breathing pattern for an extended period of time (the length of a session) activates the sympathetic nervous system. This activation can be challenging and confronting resulting in deviating to a regular breathing pattern prompted by the subconscious fear
My role as the facilitator is to gently guide and support you to stay with the breath. When you begin to breathe more freely and fully, you don’t accumulate tension in their body. Becoming more relaxed and adaptable to life's challenges.
Opens up your consciousness
All that we have experienced in life is stored in our cellular memory. Conscious connected breathing allows us to bring the subconscious into the conscious; to access the memories stored in our body and breathe through them. This process transforms our reactions to these memories and the meaning we have attached to them allowing us to shift from being victims of our past to powerful creators of our present.
Achieves mindfulness:
Our thoughts influence our reality. Becoming mindful of your thoughts and transforming them through breathwork grants you the opportunity to reprogram your subconscious mind.
Heals the unconscious birth script:
unconscious prenatal, birth and perinatal memories influence our perception and behavior in life. Due to the conscious connected breaths ability to bring the subconscious to the conscious a breathwork session can be used to help a person become aware of their patterns and overcome them.

If your on the fence about comming what is holding you back?
Could you breath into your resistance or hesitation and see what gifts are within it?
Do you have questions that I could answer?
I am eagerly looking forward to creating a space for you all to breathe feel and heal within and I invite you to show up for yourself and each other. Together we can cocreated something powerful.
As a breathwork Facilitator, at the core of what I do lies a desire to create a safe space for you to go within and access your inner wisdom. My role is not to give you advice, or heal you but to be an open heart and listening ear, to ask the questions that will help you come into connection with your truth.
What inner wisdom could you tune into today?
A Fast and affective way to do this is just three minutes of concious connected breath. In and out through the mouth with no pause and begging or end.
Realy lean into the breath feel it energise your body. Then grab a pen and paper and journal for 10 min stream of consciousness style and see what surfaces.
This is a great daily practice but even doing it once is great.
Give it a try and let me know how it goes.

Melbourne is in another lock down and to be honest its thrown me. Ive taken the time to rest and make art and be with my feelings as uncomfortable as many of them where.
self reflection and care is never over but as i emerge from my bubble i feel called to turn my attention outward again and ask,
how are you going?
what have you been doing to look after yourselves?
what do you need?
Sunrise walks for the soul
Meditation isn't accessible to everyone stillness can be a scary place.
Breathwork takes many forms and can weave into all aspects of daily life.
when I'm feeling restless incorporating movement into my practice realy helps. Just noticing my body and my breath putting on some bangin' techno and going for a good power walk realy gets me connected with my body and my sense of being.
What does staying embodied look like in your daily life?
Staying embodied for me often looks like listening to my body and following my pleasure and I 100% recommend. However there are some things in life we just have to do that we don't enjoy. For me checking emails and doing admin are this and as a result of me neglecting this vital piece of my life and business I'm holding myself back from sharing this work with you all.
Without shame spiralling or beating myself up (more than I can help it) I'm facing up to the the things that are hard for me to listen to my of insights and advice and show up form myself and all of you.
On this note I will be offering a breathwork on the 4th of June at AKA Studio Yoga for my first fully public event off the back of the amazing collaboration I did with Siobhan Housden for midsumma festival.
It will be a little different focusing on connection to self and other, on witnessing and being witnessed
Details posted soon once I take deep breaths sit down at my computer ground through my body and face up to my admin.
