Resonates a great deal with life as physio, wife, daughter and friend.

“I’m not as good as I ought to be. I am not as good as I want to be. I’m not as good as I am going to be. But I am thankful that I’m better than I used to be.” John Wooden.

Insider Insight: Relax your pelvic floor! 💡 For performers, fitness enthusiasts, and even our fellow physios (you know what I’m talking about 😉 - it’s crucial to not only activate but also relax your pelvic floor. Tightness can lead to issues like tailbone pain, back pain, pelvic pain (internal and external), breathing inefficiency to name a few.
Try it out: disengage your tummy, feel the floor relax. It’s not easy, but as important as activation.

Thoracic mobility

Embrace Thoracic Mobility. These past 2 weeks I have been presented with a lot of stiff spines- mainly thoracic in origin.

Your thoracic spine, nestled in the upper and middle back, holds the key to many benefits for your body and overall well-being. Some positive impacts of good mobility in the area are:

1️⃣ Posture Balance:
👉 Cultivating a supple thoracic spine lends support to impeccable posture, alleviating strain on your neck and lower back. Stand tall, exude confidence.
2️⃣ Breathe with Ease:
👉 Enhanced thoracic mobility facilitates expanded lung capacity and ribcage movement. Breathe deeply, feel revitalized, and nurture your respiratory health.
3️⃣ Release Tension:
👉 Sedentary habits can foster tightness in the thoracic region. Mobility exercises act as a balm, easing tension and relieving stiffness.
4️⃣ Performance Boost:
👉 Thoracic mobility is a secret weapon for activities demanding rotation, like golf or tennis and even running.
5️⃣ Stress Soother:
👉 Gentle thoracic exercises can be a silent ally against stress. Unwind, release tension, and elevate your mental well-being.

Swipe left for thoracic mobility exercises that are some of our faves that we often prescribe in clinic.

Some days the clients just make us laugh and bring joy. This particular client usually answers my regular question of “how are you today?” - with “Don’t ask”. So I figured this was a massive step up with his answer today. 😂😂😂😂

Reminder for this week - book in physio appointment. Only 3 weeks until Mimi will be away so make sure you get in your appointments before she goes.

🎶🎤Performers can benefit from seeing a physiotherapist at various stages of their career, whether they are amateurs or professionals. Here are some situations when a singer, dancer, acrobat actor or circus artist should consider seeing a physiotherapist. 🪩

Bon voyage to my colleague and best listening buddy .physio. The clinic will be lonely without you while you’re away in 🇨🇦 but we wish you a great trip and looking forward to seeing you back soon. In the meantime we will have the fabulous Bridy covering for Michelle on tuesdays. DM for more info.

Appreciation and congratulations post! 🎉🍾🥳

When I opened 3 years ago, I had no idea what the future would hold. But I was so lucky to have my friend and pretty amazing physio .physio jump on board for the ride! It’s now been 3 years working alongside her and so proud of what she has achieved so far. We are often passing ships in the night but we try to grab a few mins each week to compare notes and stories and have a good ole chat. Congrats on your 3 years .physio !

In Pilates, springs are commonly found in Pilates machines like the Reformer and Cadillac (also known as the Trapeze Table).
These machines use a system of springs and straps to provide resistance or assistance during exercises.
Here's how Pilates springs work:
* Resistance: The springs on the Pilates machines can be adjusted to provide varying levels of resistance. This resistance challenges the muscles and helps to build strength and improve muscle tone. Depending on the exercise, the springs may be adjusted to make it easier or more challenging for the practitioner.
* Assistance: Springs can also be used to assist the practitioner in performing certain exercises. By providing support, the springs allow individuals to perform movements that they might find challenging due to strength or flexibility limitations.
* Muscle Activation: The resistance offered by the springs requires engagement of stabilizing muscles to control and maintain the movement. This helps to promote balanced muscle development and control.
* Full-Body Workout: Pilates exercises often involve whole-body movements, and the springs play a significant role in targeting various muscle groups simultaneously.
The tension of the springs can be adjusted based on the individual's skill level, fitness goals, and specific needs. Pilates instructors are trained to select appropriate spring settings and create tailored workouts for their clients.
Remember, Pilates springs are specific to Pilates machines and are not typically used in mat-based Pilates exercises. In mat-based Pilates, body weight and gravity provide the resistance.

Part 2 - Tour Life

Here are some more (see part 1also) tips to help you manage touring life effectively:

1. Embrace Flexibility: Touring often involves unexpected changes and challenges. Embrace flexibility and adaptability in your mindset. Be prepared for last-minute adjustments, changes in venues, or unforeseen circumstances. Maintaining a positive attitude and being adaptable can help reduce stress and make the most out of any situation.
2. Find Balance: Touring life can be intense, but it's important to find a balance between work and leisure. Make time to explore new places, engage with local culture, and enjoy downtime activities. Finding a balance between work and relaxation will help you stay motivated and avoid burnout.
3. Seek Support: Surround yourself with a supportive team and colleagues who understand the unique demands of touring life. Share your concerns, seek advice, and collaborate with others to navigate challenges together. Additionally, consider seeking professional support, such as a therapist or counselor, if you need help managing stress or adjusting to the touring lifestyle.

Part 1. Tour Life.
🎶🎧🩰🪩
Managing touring life can be demanding and challenging, but with proper planning and self-care strategies, it is possible to make it a fulfilling and sustainable experience. Here are some tips to help you manage touring life effectively:
* Prioritize Self-Care: Touring can be physically and mentally exhausting, so it's crucial to prioritize self-care. Get enough sleep, eat nutritious meals, and stay hydrated. Take breaks when needed and engage in activities that help you relax and recharge, such as meditation, exercise, or hobbies.
* Maintain a Routine: Establishing a daily routine can provide structure and stability amidst the constantly changing environment of touring. Schedule regular times for meals, warm-ups, rehearsals, performances, and downtime. Having a routine can help you stay organized and reduce stress.
* Stay Connected: Touring often means being away from family and friends for extended periods. Stay connected with your loved ones through phone calls, video chats, or social media. Sharing your experiences and seeking support from your support system can help you feel connected and grounded.
* Set Boundaries: Touring can be intense, and it's important to set boundaries to maintain your well-being. Learn to say no when necessary and communicate your needs and limitations to your team and colleagues. This includes setting boundaries for personal time, rest, and privacy.
* Stay Organized: Effective organization is key to managing the logistical aspects of touring. Keep track of travel itineraries, performance schedules, accommodation details, and any other relevant information. Utilize digital tools or apps to help you stay organized and manage your time efficiently.
🪩🩰🎶🎧
Remember, managing touring life effectively is about finding what works best for you and prioritizing your well-being. Take care of yourself, stay organized, and embrace the unique experiences that touring has to offer.

Friday goodness.
So many times we get people coming into the clinic basically overwhelmed with what stretches or exercises they should be doing. It’s nice to take a step back and go back to simple movements that feel good and can be done anywhere.
Simple is often the best!

Welcome to Mouvaire

Welcome to Mouvaire! Mouvaire is the new beginning of Mimi Venker Physiotherapy.

But where did it all start? Mimi completed her physiotherapy degree nearly 20 years ago in Queensland, Australia, She then followed her passion and family background and ran off to the circus. In 2002 Mimi joined Cirque Du Soleil’s Varekai for its creation as physiotherapist and then toured North America for 3 years with this beautiful show. She then moved to Las Vegas to work with another CDS show called Zumanity. After 3 years living the Vegas life, Mimi went back on tour as Head therapist for the touring shows of Algeria, Quidam, Ovo, Dralion and Michael Jackson the Immortal World Tour. Finally in 2014 Mimi settled back in Australia and has been lucky enough to be part of BurnLab with Donna Aston (now AstonRx) and working in conjunction with personal trainers and nutritionists. Mimi Has also continued working with artists and performers from all over the world. Including ongoing support for some Cirque Du Soleil artists, NICA students and touring shows through Australia. More recently touring with Queen and Adam Lambert through Australia and New Zealand as their physiotherapist.

Now, Mimi has opened Mouvaire studio. A place like minded professionals together and help guide you and your body through to wellness and beyond. We provide bespoke one on one clinical pilates sessions, no rush physiotherapy appointments, personal training and remedial massage. You are not a number in a busy clinic but a part of the family in this private healthcare studio.

Throughout the year, there will be guest classes and sessions taking by experts in their field. You are taken care of from the moment you walk through our doors. Healthcare is an investment not an expense that you have to endure. It should be informative, comfortable and get results.
