Lachlan's had quite the adventure in the world of physiotherapy! He was the Head Physiotherapist for Geelong VFL from 2015 to 2018. Then, he took on the Lead Paralympic Physiotherapist role at the Commonwealth Games in 2022. He's also been the lead physio for the World Mountain and Trail Running Championships in 2022-23 and the World Cross Country Champs in 2023. Introducing our newest Physio and team member, Jonathon!
Jonathan began his career in physiotherapy by working in community rehab and aged care. He provided services in community gyms, pools, homes, and aged care facilities. This allowed him to help a diverse range of people, from various age groups and cultural backgrounds, with a wide range of conditions. He gained experience in managing movement disorders, chronic neurological issues, and supporting the elderly in staying active.
In addition, Jonathan worked part-time in the sports field during weekends. He served as a sports medic, offering first aid and assisting physiotherapists in sports teams like rugby, AFL, and soccer. After graduating, he took on roles as head of the physiotherapy program at Xavier College, and worked with Kiwi-Hawthorn Rugby club and Melbourne Rugby Club as a club physiotherapist.
Jonathan's passion lies in sports physiotherapy, where he ensures athletes' safety and health for optimal performance. He believes in bringing field experience to the clinic to aid the community with their injuries. His focus includes managing lower limb injuries such as hamstring and calf strains, knee and ankle injuries, as well as helping people recover from concussions and return to work and play.
He encourages individuals to take charge of their pain and rehabilitation journey by providing evidence-based education, exercise therapy, and hands-on treatment to help them reach their goals.
Outside of work, you'll find Jonathan at Collingwood footy games, golf courses around Melbourne, playing tennis, skiing, and exploring Melbourne's cafes and restaurants. Let's not forget his love for his Cavoodle puppy, Panko!
Book in with Jonathon via our website.
Although people tend to focus on their pain as the best indicator about whether they are moving forward in their recovery or not, making progress towards physical goals without increasing pain is progress, even when symptoms have not reduced.
Pain is complex, sometimes achieving certain physical goals may be necessary before any reduction in symptoms can be seen.
Progress is progress, don't dismiss it!
