Thursday PD was extra special today ☺️. We got to hear the amazing speak about all things triathlon, injury, Olympics and even some fun anecdotes from way back when.

We are feeling pretty damn fortunate to be working with such an incredible human and we can’t wait to hear from her again because she is one exciting case study for our physio brains to learn from 🤓

Wishing her all the best for the upcoming adventures - we will be cheering from Melbourne for you 🙌🏽🤩

EXCITING NEWS 📣📣

SMPC is on the hunt for our next amazing physio to join our team! We are a friendly, fun and supportive bunch who are always striving to give our best to our lovely patient community.

If we’ve sparked your interest, here are just a few things to note:

🔹5+ years clinical private practice experience preferred

🔹 Pilates and/or S&C experience will be highly regarded - we place a large focus on exercise rehab here and we want you to be involved in this too

🔹 We value collaborative practice and are always looking to build each other up - your ego will not be welcome here

🔹 Social events are a big part of life at SMPC…we love being physios but we also love getting out and enjoying life outside of the clinical world 🙌🏽

🔹 This is a busy clinic so clear communication, organisation and the ability to be a team player are absolutely essential

🔹You will need to join the birthday cake roster…don’t panic you can enlist the help of a professional if baking isn’t part of your skill set 😅

If you’re looking to progress your career in the physio world, enjoy learning and are keen to expand your knowledge and experience…and also don’t mind a bit of good quality banter, then click the link in our bio and apply!

This is the energy we are channeling heading into the Easter weekend…watch out kids, we will jump over fences to collect more eggs than you 🐰

Another new blog is live 🙃

Returning to exercise after giving birthday can be an incredibly tricky and confusing process to navigate. There is absolutely no standard process or ‘recipe’ that you can follow and everyone will respond differently. Pre-pregnancy activity, your experience through the pregnancy itself, your birth and also how your early days as a mum have been will all impact how your body feels as you start reintroducing movement into your life again.

One of our physios, Soph, has dived into the denials of what to expect when returning to exercise postpartum, how to find the support you need and the importance of taking your own journey when it comes to achieving your movement goals post baby.

Click the link in our bio to have a read 🤩☺️

We love ALL kinds of cycling here…we know the road bikes get lots of attention buttttt to all our Mountain Bikers we think you’re awesome as well - combining speed, balance, air time and rough terrain is pretty damn hard…this guy makes it look effortless - we can assure you it’s not that simple 😂

So to all our mountain bikers…what do you love most about the sport? Let’s spread the love 🤩🚵🏽‍♀️🚵🏽

23/03/2022

We’re ready to introduce another superstar physio to our team…everyone please meet Hayato 🤩

His clinical interest areas include rehabbing sports injuries as well as those undergoing surgical procedures. He likes to stay fit and active and also runs a kitesurfing business at St Kilda (go check out 🙌🏽)

Click the link in our bio to book in to see Hayato - he is available Monday afternoons and Wednesday/Thursday mornings.

We’re so excited to have him as part of our team ☺️

16/03/2022

Making the long trek *2mins walk* back from our favourites - how lucky are we to have these cool alleyways so close to the clinic? 🤩 Definitely makes staying active easier!

What’s your favourite thing about the scenery near where you work/live?

New blog is live!!! 🤩

Click the link in our bio to read all about how Emma came to be part of the SMPC team, why we are so glad to work with her and what she gets up to in her spare time…because apparently she still has time for that amongst you know, being an Olympian and all 😅☺️

Photos from South Melbourne Physio's post 10/03/2022

Oh hey there Em 🙊👋🏽

We are super excited and pumped to announce Emma Jeffcoat as our first ever SMP Ambassador. YAY!! 🤩

As part of this she will be an inspirational face of the business and we as a company will be supporting her in a number of ways to achieve her personal and athletic goals.

We feel privileged to collaborate with such a wonderful ‘like-minded’ person. Not only is Emma an Australian Olympian, she also has a background in health care as a Nurse. At the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, Emma finished as our highest placed triathlete in the Women’s race and also competed in the mixed relay sprint 💪🏽

Emma aligns strongly with our clinic values of self care, community, adventure and excellence and we believe is a wonderful role model for our SMP client base and staff. Her resilience in overcoming the physical and mental battles of multiple injuries and making it to the pinnacle of her sport is inspiring to us all.

What can you expect to see? Whilst in Melbourne (and not gallivanting the world competing on the international stage 🤩) you’ll find Emma drinking lots of coffee in the orange SMP kit. She’ll be joining the team for our weekly Thursday shop ride, encouraging women participation in cycling (and sport in general) and speaking at community events. Look out for blogs on her personal experience of injuries and rehab challenges, race reports and prep for upcoming Commonwealth and World Champs events…the first one is coming your way shortly 🏊🏼‍♀️🚴🏽‍♀️🏃🏽‍♀️

Welcome to the team Emma ❤️

Happy International Women’s Day from the SMPC team! We are so proud and so grateful for all the amazing women we have in our family - each and every one is incredible in so many ways…

Emma: our faithful Pilates leader, womens health guru and always brings a positive energy to the clinic ❤️
Karen: driven and determined, always going above and beyond for her patients (and for us)…fearless in her adventures 🤩
Liz: leader, nurturer, advice giver - absolutely kicking all the goals 👏🏽
Gel: absolute rockstar, humble and determined to bring about positive change in this world ☺️
Kim: creative, calm and so patient with everyone…we are so sad to be seeing you go 🥺
Shalinie: so kind, so intelligent so hard working - we are blessed with your presence every shift 😊
Mikaela: always brings a smile to the day, and always up for a chat - it’s a great day when you’re coming in 😍
Tess: our legendary plant mum…we can’t even express how grateful we are for your kindness, care and expertise. We love having you back every so often 🥰
Soph: so gentle and always making sure your patients feel safe, we love your smile around the clinic 🙃

We love our team and are so proud to have such a diverse group of women around us!

Farewell to our beloved patient and friend, Hamed, who has well and truly become part of the SMPC Family over the last 2 years ❤️

Hamed is a talented sprinter and qualified engineer and is leaving Australia after completing his degree. Thanks to covid we got to keep him for a couple of extra weeks but he has now safely returned to Kuwait and we are excited to see what amazing things he gets up to back home.

We wish you all the best Hamed in both your career and on the track…maybe see you in Paris 2024 🤩

02/03/2022

We might have been sitting on this one for a little bit (from memory 2021 was a hectic time 😅)…so we thought it was time to finally introduce one of our amazing physios and bike fit gurus, Lionel.

Lionel has been with the team since mid 2021 and brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience, particularly with anything and everything cycling related 🚴🏽

You can catch Lionel in the clinic Tuesdays and Thursdays - he can’t wait to work with you ☺️

Recovering from injury or illness is hard. It’s hard physically, it’s hard mentally, it’s hard emotionally. A key role for us as physios is to educate our patients on expected timelines for recovery and when certain milestones will likely be achieved.

The tricky thing with this is that it’s always a guide and everyone will be a little bit different. There will always be small…or very big hiccups that get in the way of the smooth line of recovery we all hope for as patients.

Maybe you get sick
Maybe work/study picks up, making it hard to complete your exercises and the increased stress sends your body into survival mode, thereby pressing pause on recovery processes
Maybe you go on holiday

There are hundreds of other reasons your recovery may take a few hits and the process won’t be the east road you thought it would. That’s ok, it’s to be expected. We know it’s hard to really understand that when you’re the one living it, that’s why it’s important to let your physio know how you’re feeling so we can be there to support you in the way you need at any given point.

Have you been on what feels/felt like a crazy journey to rehab your injury? Let us know in the comments what helped you best to stay motivated and have faith in the process when it all seemed too much ☺️

24/02/2022

While we can't promise to make you ride as fast as Chris, we absolutely can get you into your fastest and most efficient position based on your body analysis 💨💨

If a premium bike fit (and/or injury prevention/rehab) is what you're looking for then follow the link in our bio to book in a session with one of our expert physios today!

To the untrained eye, kitesurfing looks like a pretty cool sport with a hefty side of danger involved. Physio and Kitesurfing guru, Hayato, has explained the facts and busted some common misconceptions the general public has surrounding kitesurfing injuries in his latest blog. Give it a read and wait for your mind to be blown…spoiler alert, kitesurfing might not be as dangerous as we all thought!

If you have any concerns, queries, would like to try your hand at kitesurfing or have a niggling injury that’s impacting your performance book in with Hayato at SMPC today for a consult. Alternatively you can find him in St Kilda for hire and lessons.

SMPC is on the hunt for an enthusiastic, conscientious and self-motivated Medical/Allied Health receptionist who is looking to join a busy practice and take the next step in their career.

We are a friendly, caring group and are always supporting each other to being out our best. We pride ourselves on hard work and delivering the highest quality care possible to all our patients.

If you want to be part of a team that is dedicated to the wider community but also each other (we want you to feel part of the family too!) then click the link in our bio and hit that ‘apply’ button.

We can’t wait to hear from you!

10/02/2022

Today the SMPC team came together to share their favourite exercises - with the challenge to be as creative as possible. Lots of fun was had, as well as many ‘wow that’s a good one’ moments 🤩

We’re super excited to get stuck into our exercise rehab classes and 1:1s and show you all some new tricks!

Check out our stories for some sneak peeks of our physios trying things out 🙊

THANK YOU to each of you who have taken an interest, donated so generously and supported me in the .
Completely blown away by the $$ raised. I started off thinking $5000 would be a radiative goal, then stretch to $7500 & $8500 & then ambitiously reset the target to $10,000.
This means so much more than a number, here's hoping this really can contribute to finding an early detection test for women so we can try and p**s off Ovarian Cancer.
Hope you enjoy a selection of the incredible pics through this adventure by the talented
