Just a competition update on our local superstar, Marian Lister.

Marian competed in the singles comp and won two out three games but unfortunately did not progress - singles wasn't to be.

She then competed in the pairs with Mel Allen and won all three group games, but had a tough draw and came up against 2 highly ranked pros.
That did not stop Mel and Marian though, as massive underdogs, they had an outstanding 14-12 win!

They then had to play the Champions from Hong Kong and unfortunately went down in a close one. It just goes to show, it takes another country's best to take down an Eagle.

And the adventure didn't stop there, Marians 4's team glided through the sectionals only to be vanquished (in a close one) by the current world's best female bowlers 4.

Congrats to John Bowls (aka John Leitch) for getting through to the Sandbelt Bowls Region Champion of Champions Men's Final last Monday night. John represented Chadstone Bowls Club well, and came up against a champion player in Mathew Kurta. Well done to both players.

We were very excited to have hosted the Sandbelt Bowls Region Mixed Pairs Grand Final last Thursday February 29.
The final featured Ali Forsyth & Kelly McKerihen (Clayton Bowls Club) vs Tess Vawser & Jarrad O’Donohoe (Moorabbin Bowls Club).
In what was once again a very high quality match, Ali and Kelly were the eventual winners.
It was great to be able to host such a high quality match under lights at our new venue protected by our MakMax Australia roof and on our new TigerTurf Australia green.
Congratulations to all of those involved!

It was exciting to welcome Caulfield Park Alma Bowls Club to our new home yesterday for our first pennant game this season, particularly given the typical Melbourne summer weather ;)

It was great to play on our new TigerTurf Australia green and protected by our MakMax Australia roof given the inclement weather.

It was a close match at the break, where we got to share in sandwiches and scones provided by our members.

After the break we were able to maintain our lead as scores changed across the rinks and ultimately get the win.

We look forward to welcoming all other clubs to our new venue for the rest of the season!

We are coming home !

Council has confirmed that we will be moving in towards the end of October which, in all honesty, is probably earlier than we had hoped for. We anticipate having a look around the facility soon and we will update you with some photos and information on our new club following the visit.

Further to our post from earlier this month, we wanted to remind members and the wider public that Chadstone Bowls Club is operating out of Murrumbeena Park Bowls Club for the next 2 years.

All of our home games will be play at Murrumbeena Park, as well as club competitions and social bowls.

As we start a new year in 2022, we are moving to Murrumbeena Park Bowls Club for the next ~2 years while the council redevelop our current site.

Chadstone Bowls Club updated their business hours.

For players, social members and guests alike, please see the latest Government & Bowls Victoria advice with regards to vaccination requirements when attending the club.

Please remember, these are government directions. If you have concerns, please direct those to your local and federal members, not to club members or officials.

𝗣𝗹𝗮𝘆/𝗩𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗩𝗶𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗖𝗹𝘂𝗯𝘀

We are continuing to work with Government to help comply with the Government Directions and find more practical solutions for clubs to operate. While we have some clarity from the recently released Open Premise Directions, until we have full clarity, we have provided Questions and Answers relating to key issues.

There are now two key definitions used by Government, which are crucial to understanding the new directions:

𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗦𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁
Only events conducted by Bowls Victoria including Pennant, and Regions conducting Pennant on Bowls Victoria’s behalf, and State Championships.

𝗣𝗵𝘆𝘀𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻
Club bowls including social bowls, tournaments, practice, training, barefoot bowls, corporate bowls, etc.

Please read the below document and accompanying table 𝗶𝗻 𝗳𝘂𝗹𝗹 for an understanding of where things are at 𝗮𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘆. We will advise when we have any further updates and we stress this information is changing rapidly. We understand the situation is difficult for all.

Great news folks - we're back for practice!
Summary as follows:
* greens will generally be open from 8am to 7pm
* 5 fully vaccinated people per rink (plus coach) OR 2 partially vaccinated people per ring (plus coach)
* every 2nd rink to be used only, and groups on each rink to be from 2 households as per general COVID protocols
* normal COVID protocols apply (scan in using QR code on arrival, touch only your bowls, spot the jack, limit mat handling, etc)
* club rooms inc toilets not open @ this stage

Return to Play Update - 1st October New guidelines to get lockdown areas back on the greens.

While we cannot provide any further update to our earlier post today, clubs can now view an updated copy of the Return to Play Guidelines on our website. Today's version of this document allows for the 5/2 rule for Metro Melbourne, Mitchell Shire and City of Latrobe (coming out of lockdown), as well as further updates for Regional Victoria.

𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘮𝘦𝘢𝘯𝘴:

Outdoor facilities can open for contactless recreation, for practice only (i.e. not training or competitions).

- 𝗙𝘂𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝘃𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱: outdoor practice (i.e. casual roll-up) for 𝘂𝗽 𝘁𝗼 𝟱 people plus coach.

- If 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗳𝘂𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝘃𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱: outdoor practice 𝘂𝗽 𝘁𝗼 𝟮 people plus coach.

We are still waiting on Government to decide on whether there can be multiple groups of 5 or 2 per facility, and if so, what the minimum distance is between each group if applicable.

We note there are no minimum distances listed for picnics in the park and therefore hope the same logic and common sense is applied to bowls. When we are provided clarity on this, as well as a number of other outstanding questions, we will amend the advice.

It appears the Weekend and Midweek Pennant Bowls season will not begin on the 16th and 19th October respectively We will be in touch when we have something concrete from Bowls VIC to share. Meanwhile stay safe and look after each other.

Lockdown has been extended again, so unfortunately The Bowls Club remains closed until the current restrictions are lifted. Look after yourselves and each other. Hopefully we will be back on the greens soon

Reminder to all financial members (social and bowlers) that we have our AGM this Saturday June 26 @ noon, including a BBQ afterwards. Weather permitting, we will also be playing social bowls afterwards.
