๐Ÿโœจ Winter Season 2024 Wrap-Up: A Proud Finish for the Blue Team โœจ๐Ÿ

The Blue team fought valiantly tonight, giving it their all but just couldnโ€™t hold on in the end. Despite closing the gap to within 2 goals with only 5 minutes to go, Lilydale proved too strong, finishing with a 34 to 25 win over Glen Waverley FNC.

Brie was outstanding as Captain, showing incredible versatility by defending in goals for two quarters before switching to wing attack and making a huge impact. Our goalers, Kate B and Cath, faced a tough and physical battle under the ring, but they fought hard every step of the way.

In the center court, Britt, Ash, and Emma worked tirelessly to move the ball with speed and precision. Kate C was sharp in defense, reading the play like a pro and intercepting with finesse. She and Cas, who played her last game for the club, formed a solid defensive duo. Weโ€™ll miss you, Casโ€”enjoy retirement!

We now take a well-earned break before our Club AGM/Dinner on Saturday, October 5th. Tickets are available online, so be sure to grab yours and join us in celebrating an incredible season.

๐Ÿโœจ Semi-Final Thriller: Glen Waverley FNC Edges Out Vermont!โœจ๐Ÿ

What a game! In a nail-biting 1st Semi-Final, Glen Waverley FNC pulled off a heart-stopping victory over Vermont, winning by just one pointโ€”28 to 27!

It was a slow start, but our team quickly settled in and took control. Emma was an absolute standout in wing defense, shutting down plays left and right. Ash played a fantastic game through the center court, keeping the momentum strong and the ball moving. With late withdrawals from Jess and Cas, the team had to dig deep with no bench to fall back on, but our 7 players rose to the challenge.

The play down the court was lightning-fast, with Britt firing bullet-like passes into the goal circle. Kate B and Cath worked seamlessly under the ring, while Kate C and Brie were rock-solid in defense. Emma, as always, read the play like a book, making crucial interceptions.

Next week, we face Lilydale at Knox for a spot in the grand final! Letโ€™s bring the same energy and support to push our team all the way to the top!

๐Ÿโœจ Final Home and Away Season Wrap-Up: Yellow and Blue Teams Finish Strong! โœจ๐Ÿ

Yellow Team Highlights:

What a finish to the season for our Yellow team! With everyone on deck except for Charlotte (get well soon, Char!), the girls pulled off a fantastic win against Kilsyth, with a final score of 42 to 30. The game started strong with an 11 to 4 lead, though the second quarter was a bit tighter at 17 to 16. The team rallied back in the third, extending the lead to 29 to 23, and finished strong with a final score of 42 to 30. It was a tough and physical game, especially for our shooters, with both Kilsyth defenders sent off in the last 3 minutes. The Yellow team may be wrapping up their season, but theyโ€™ll be there next week to cheer on the Blue team in their finals campaign!

Blue Team Highlights:

The Blue team finished the regular season with a bang, securing a dominant win against Blackburn, 34 to 7. With a full squad ready to go, everyone stepped up in a big way. Cas and Kate C were outstanding, keeping Blackburn scoreless in the third quarter, while the defenders held them to just 7 scoring shots for the entire game. Kath and Kate B were on fire, shooting an incredible 15 goals in that third quarter alone! This win sets the stage for the finals, where weโ€™ll be giving it everything we've got.

Letโ€™s rally behind our Blue team as they head into the finals next week. Details to followโ€”letโ€™s show our support and cheer them on to victory!

๐Ÿโœจ **Round 13 Wrap-Up: Blue Team Victorious, Yellow Team Fights Hard** โœจ๐Ÿ

Blue Team Highlights:

Our Blue team had a phenomenal win this week, solidifying their position on the ladder as they head towards the finals. They dominated FTG with a final score of 40 to 16. Kate B was unstoppable, shooting a game-high 9 goals in the last quarter! With no subs, our seven players maintained their positions throughout the game, proving that when you have a winning formula, you stick with it. Next up, we face Blackburn at HE Parker in the last round before finals.

Yellow Team Highlights:

Sitting in 5th spot, our Yellow team needed a win to secure a place in the finals. It was a nail-biting match against UFTG, with the lead changing several times. Despite a valiant effort, we narrowly lost by 2 goals, with a final score of GWH 30 to UFTG 32. The team fought hard and showed tremendous spirit. Our last game of the season will be against Kilsyth next Friday at Knox, where we'll give it our all!

Letโ€™s rally behind both teams as they gear up for their final games of the season!

๐Ÿ๐ŸŒŸย GWFNC Weekly Wrap-Upย ๐ŸŒŸ๐Ÿ

Hey GWFNC family!

This week both our Blue and Yellow teams took to the courts at Knox Netball Centre, and it was all action-packed! Hereโ€™s how it went down:

๐Ÿ’™ Blue Team faced off against Lilydale. Kate C and Brie were absolute defensive dynamos, working tirelessly throughout the match. Despite a tough game and no subs, our girls played the full 40 minutes with grit and determination. Special shoutout to Jess, who made a stellar return from injury โ€“ itโ€™s great to have you back on court!

The final score was GWFNC 18 - Lilydale 37. Next week, theyโ€™ll be up against FTG at HE Parker.

Keep pushing, Blue Team! ๐ŸŒŸ

๐Ÿ’› Yellow Team are just on the cusp of breaking into the top four. They had a challenging match against the top-of-the-ladder Park Orchards. The Sharp sisters, Cody and Jemma, played an incredible game, with Cody smacking several opposition shots out of the court! ๐Ÿ’ฅ

Thanks to Jemma and Carly for stepping in, and kudos to Elyse and Alyssa for their stint in goals during the 3rd quarter, which they won. Charlotte was a defensive powerhouse throughout the game.

Unfortunately, the results didnโ€™t go our way this time, with a final score of Park Orchards 26 - GWFNC 21.

Next week is crucial as they return to Knox for a must-win game against UFTG.

Letโ€™s keep our spirits high and cheer our teams on to victory next week! Go GWFNC! ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’›

๐Ÿ๐ŸŒŸ GWFNC Weekly Wrap-Up ๐ŸŒŸ๐Ÿ

Hey GWFNC family!

This week was a mixed bag of action and rest for our teams. Letโ€™s dive into what went down:

Blue Team had a well-deserved bye this week. Theyโ€™re gearing up for an early clash next week at Knox against Lilydale. Rise and shine, Blue Team supporters!

Yellow Team faced off against Ringwood, who are sitting just above us in 3rd place on the ladder. Coming off a break, the girls took a bit to find their rhythm in the first quarter. It was fantastic to see Bridget back on the court after her injury โ€“ she showed true grit, especially taking another heavy hit in the last quarter!

The second quarter was a different story. Our girls leveled the score going into halftime, with Charlotte and Adelle putting in stellar performances and Tianah shooting like a superstar. Unfortunately, the clock wasnโ€™t on our side, and we went down by 6 goals. Final score: GWFNC 29 - Ringwood 35.

Next week, both teams are in action at Knox! The Blue Team kicks off early against Lilydale, and the Yellow Team follows at 7:40 pm, facing Park Orchards.

Only three games left before finals โ€“ letโ€™s keep the energy high and finish strong!

Go GWFNC! ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’›

๐Ÿโœจ Family Round Wrap-Up: Yellow and Blue Teams Shine! โœจ๐Ÿ

This week we kicked off the fixture with a stellar Family Round against Norward and Bayswater! Despite a few injuries and illnesses (get well soon Ella, Adelle, and Bridgette), our teams showed incredible spirit and teamwork.

Yellow Team Highlights:

The highlight of the season? The three Pretty sistersโ€”Elyse, Ada, and Graceโ€”playing together under the watchful eye of their dad and coach, Trav. The stands were buzzing with excitement as Elyse took the center pass, swiftly passed to Ada, who then pivoted back to Elyse who found Grace in the goal circle for a beautiful goal. A family affair to remember! โค๏ธ

Down the other end, Cody and her sister were a defensive dream team, moving in perfect sync. Jemma's anticipation skills were top-notch, deflecting three goal attempts!

Charlotte absolutely owned the wing defense, putting on one of her best performances yet. She executed the coach's halftime advice flawlesslyโ€”well done, Char!

In the goals, T and Alyssa were on fire, with T scoring an incredible 30 goals for the night. Such a powerhouse duo!

Final score: Glen Waverley Yellow 45 - Norward 18 ๐ŸŽ‰

Blue Team Highlights:

The Blue team faced off against Bayswater and started strong. Brie and Kate were a dynamic defensive duo, brilliantly rebounding Bayswater's first goal attempt and sending the ball upcourt to convert it into a goal.

Ash continues to amaze, holding her own against older, bigger players. She's definitely one to watch! Her mum, Cas, rocked the Wing Defense position, delivering yet another standout performance.

Britt's relentless energy and speed were on full display, driving the ball into the goal circle with finesse. Emma matched this energy, finding fantastic spaces and facilitating smooth transitions down the court.

Under the ring, Kate B and Cath faced a tough physical game but their chemistry and ability to find space ensured every shot counted.

Final score: Glen Waverley Blue 34 - Bayswater 22 ๐Ÿ’ช

A well-deserved break is coming up for our girls to recharge and gear up for the final push to the finalsโ€”only 4 games to go!

๐Ÿ’™Blue Team Report๐Ÿ’™

Quick recap from Round 8: Despite a very late game at 9:50pm, the Hawks played exceptionally well, defeating Blackburn 38 to 12.

This week, the success continued for our girls with another great win against Knox Falcons, coming out on top 27 to 23. Kate B and Cath had a cracking game in the goal circle, with Ash and Emma seamlessly transitioning and feeding the ball throughout.

Cas, Brie, and Kate C formed an impenetrable defensive wall, ensuring turnovers counted. This victory helps cement our spot in the top 4 with only 5 games remaining in the season.

See you next week against Bayswater at HE Parker, 8:40pm!

๐Ÿ’›Yellow Team Report๐Ÿ’›

The Yellow team came off a bye last week and faced another late game, which took a quarter for the girls to get into gear. Nunawading started strong with 7 goals to 4. Charlotte had an awesome game in defense, getting plenty of the ball and working well with Alyssa in the first quarter with numerous intercepts.ย

Adelle, Bridget, and Tianah had a very physical game, with Bridget taking a heavy knock in the last minutes and having to retire. Ella, Elyse, and Ada ensured the ball moved down the court, with Cody working hard to send any missed shots back up the court. The girls tied the 2nd and 3rd quarters, setting up an exciting final quarter. Unfortunately, the clock beat us with Nunawading holding on 27 to 26.

See you next week against Norwood at HE Parker, 7:45pm!

A special shout-out to our wonderful sponsors who help put the girls on the court. This week, we thank , who believe every community should have access to safe, high-quality courts and hoops so they can come together, have fun, train, learn, and be active.
