Mitcham Private Hospital Obstetrician Dr Bronwyn Hamilton unpacks the differences between obstetric care in the public system vs obstetric care in the private system.
"The main difference is in the public hospital setting Obstetricians are only usually seeing the very complex high risk pregnancies such as twins, women with medical or pregnancy complications etc and are only called if things get complicated during pregnancy, labour and birth. In the private hospital setting we are there from day 1 and are with you all the steps holding your hand through your pregnancy whether it stays straightforward or it gets complicated."
Midwife Luija shares when it’s a good idea to call the hospital.
