Term 3 has begun, and Ardoch is back hard at work. We are back into it with programs galore. But we need your help. Without your support, we aren’t able to run the programs. A donation of just $20 per month ($5 per week) allows for 1 student to participate in a Writers in Residence program, and $28 per month ($1 per day) allows 7 students to go on an excursion. Even if you can’t donate regularly all donations help. A one-off donation of $32 can pay for 1 student to take the bus on an excursion.

Today is World Emoji Day 😊 A day to celebrate how emojis have allowed us to communicate more emotion in the digital world through just a small picture 😛. Our emotions and the ability to communicate them are tightly entwined with our well-being. At Ardoch, we work with a range of delivery partners to help students understand their well-being and how to take care of it, be it through incursions or our new Life Starts Program. If you want to look at the communication side of things, our Literacy and Numeracy Buddies programs allow for students to practice their communication skills with and without emojis.

It might be the school holidays, but our Youth Advisory Group students have been hard at work. Over two sessions, the YAG students have been planning the two Youth Forums for the next school holiday. The students chose 2 topics that were important to them to discuss during the forums. Thanks to everyone who came along and helped the students out. Thank you to AIA for hosting the second planning session.

Can you believe July is here already? At Ardoch, we are using this point to reflect on what has already happened and the exciting things to come. Thanks to all our supporters, we have already delivered over 250 programs, including over 100 Broadening Horizons and 33 Pathways Beyond School programs. In addition to delivering our selection of amazing programs, we also piloted a new program, Life Starts. Over 11,500 students from 62 schools in over 400 classes have experienced our programs. And the work doesn’t stop there. We already have another 158 programs booked for the rest of the year.

The final day of the End of the Financial Year is upon us. There are only hours left to donate to Ardoch’s Double Impact Week. Donating to charity offers dual benefits: tax savings for you and crucial support for those in need. And that support can go twice as far thanks to generous supporters doubling every dollar donated this year. Donate now and help students broaden their horizons and dream big during this tax time.

Do you remember your class excursions? How fun it was to join your friends and explore the magic and mystery of the world in a safe environment? But did you know that excursions offer much more than a fun day out? They give children who mightn’t otherwise be able to afford it the chance to broaden their horizons, dream big, and feel more confident and engaged in learning. That’s more than worth the price of admission.

If you feel the same, please consider making a gift to Ardoch and help us make sure no child misses out. Donations made until June 30th will be matched to double your impact!

Did you know that 40% of children and young people are experiencing mental health issues, and almost all students and young people feel stressed or anxious? Self-harming, anxiety, depression, school refusal – these issues affect more and much younger children each year.

Ardoch’s wellbeing incursions are giving children the tools to support their mental health and build resilience. And if we support children with the right tools early on in their journey, we can give them much more than a one-day incursion – we give them a chance to cope, a chance to learn, a chance to thrive. Please consider making a gift to Ardoch and help us make sure no child misses out.

The Ardoch team pitched in this week to make an excursion happen! This week you too can stretch your dollars and your impact with every donation being matched. This week a gift of $15 means a child doesn't miss out on an excursion. Or your team could donate to send an entire class - for $600 (usually $1,200). You can donate at ardoch.org.au/donate

Do you remember those excursions you took in primary school? How about when you had someone come in an speak to you about mental health? Remember the fun you had and how much you learned. Now imagine not being able to have this chance because the school can’t afford to send you.

It's really important to have these experiences throughout school but lots of schools aren’t as lucky to be able to afford to run these programs on their own. With your help we can give these students the chance to have these experiences. Every dollar helps students get experiences they wouldn’t get just because of where they live. Right now all donations are doubled. For $30 you can ensure a student can attend an excursion, for $45 you can ensure 6 children get to attend an in-school session on wellbeing, for $400 you can pay fund half the cost of transport for a whole class. Donate now to double your impact.

Ardoch - About Us - Careers 04/06/2024

Two great administration roles have arisen at Ardoch. One is three days a week and based in Geelong, and the other is four days per week and based in Melbourne. This is a great chance to help children reach their potential while enjoying a flexible work environment. If you have strong communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills, then you could be who we are looking for.

The Melbourne role is supporting our buddies programs; where kids write back and forth to adults either practicing their letter writing or numeracy skills.

The Geelong based role supports the Pathways programs; where students can participate in a range of programs learning about their pathways beyond school.

The Buddies Program assistant is based in Melbourne, while the Pathways Program assistant is based in Geelong. These are both Part Time Positions. To learn more or to apply, head to https://ardoch.org.au/careers

Did you know that 2 in 5 teenagers struggle with their mental health? By the age of 11, 1 in 12 children has been diagnosed with a mental health disorder. Mental Health issues affect students' ability to attend school, focus, engage socially, and complete tasks. In Australia, there's been a 47% increase in young people with mental health disorders over the last 15 years, and students living in communities facing disadvantage are much less likely to have access the support they need.
Schools are asking for more wellbeing programs to help students cope. But we need your help. Your donation can make a real difference in providing these students with the support they need to improve these statistics. Please consider donating at

Our Education Volunteers work closely with classes in schools to help provide extra support as needed. For 2 hours a week over 6 months the volunteers will work closely with the students to help them improve their confidence, social skills and engagement in learning. The volunteers can’t wait to go into the school each week, to see all the students and watch as they grow in confidence in both their education and their future. Learn more at

“Scienceworks fit perfectly into our Science unit of inquiry. Students were able to have a hands-on experience of learning which really helped some of our students who struggle to stay focused engage in the activity and participate. It provided a different way for students to experience hands-on activities, activities which would be impossible to facilitate at school. Students have shown increased engagement, and lots of questioning and wondering.”

Today is World Book Day, chosen for its historical significance. For us, it’s a chance to celebrate the authors we have created along with the budding authors yet to come. Since 2016, we have run the Writer in Residence program offering classes of students the chance to work with an author for 4-6 weeks writing story/stories, editing and illustrating those story/stories. During that time, we have created 58 incredible books, broadened the scope to now include Artist and Scientist as well and inspired many to enjoy writing. There are 20 classes of students eagerly awaiting to be able to create their own books this year. We can’t wait to see what they create this year.
