To the dads who lead with love and inspire the next generation to dream bigger—thank you for rewriting the future for your children and our communities. Happy Father's Day from all of us at World Vision Australia to all of you. 💙👨👧👦
Being the sole provider of her family, Desi had to go out to work at a construction site and leave her 9-year-old daughter, Heda, on her own for five hours each day. During this time, a man came in and sexually assaulted Heda.
Over the next few weeks, another four did the same. When Desi found out, she was horrified. World Vision stepped in to help Desi report the incident and access the necessary support for Heda.
Today, Desi works closely with World Vision to help make sure no other children experience the same horror. “Because of what happened, I have a passion to protect my child and also other children,” she says.
The World Vision child sponsorship program is working with the whole community in Heda’s neighbourhood – from parents to faith leaders – to stamp out violence and create a safer place for all the children. “Without sponsors, we could not do this kind of work,” said Naysa, the World Vision local area program manager in Indonesia.
World Vision Ambassador Maria Thattil shared her powerful story while helping to rewrite the stories of others, as she joined Channel Nine’s Kate Creedon to discuss our campaign.
