A record night saw the Lions achieve their biggest ever win in its history. Lions veteran D. Paunkoski’s 16 goals is most scored in a match by a single player, beating Nikoloski’s record of 12 goals achieved back in 2021.

The Lions maintain their 100% start and notch up 8 wins in a row to sit 6 points clear at the top of the ladder.

Lions run rampant twice in as many weeks to continue our strong start to the new season, and this time against a young and inexperienced Brexit FC.

For a consecutive week, every outfield player scored a hat-trick in the same match, including Lions debutant David Petrevski. A brilliant possession based and attacking football saw the Lions in total control, leaving Darko Jovanovski without much to do in goal and earn his first ever clean sheet for the Lions.

Lions run rampant again league debutants The Fishes FC, as Cyclotek FC loanee Juan Velazquez impresses on debut for the Lions. It’s Lions’ biggest ever league win in our history and the first time every outfield player scored a hat-trick in the same match.

On a huge record breaking night, a massive congratulations go to Lions’ legends Daniel Paunkoski - who became the first Lions player to hit past 500 goals for the club, and Aleksandar Nikoloski - who became the second player to hit past 300 goals for the club.

The Lions were too hot for the boys from Milan as they hold and grab the chocolates ahead of next week’s top of the table clash!

D. Paunkoski was solid in his debut, netting upon his return. Nikoloski was sensational in goals, preventing many clear cut chances. Billy Taseski scored a brilliant hat-trick, and the goal of the day goes to .nikoloski who finished off a superb team play into the top right corner after every player touched the ball in a one touch lead up.

Despite a flurry of late goals by ABC123, the defence stood tall and rode out the game. Overall, a solid win that we’ll take on the board!

THE RETURN OF THE KING 👑 | D. Paunkoski to return.

We are pleased to announce the permanent signing and return of club top goalscorer and core member Daniel Paunkoski.

D. Paunkoski returns after a short stint at Strathmore Split in State 1, where he bagged a handful of goals before an unfortunate hamstring injury cut his season short. Due to a heavy work schedule and personal commitments, this meant that D. Paunkoski made the decision to recover from his injury come back home.

‘I’m back. I’m geed for indoor again. It’s time to bring it home’ exclaimed D. Paunkoski.

He will start in the Round 14 fixture against ABC123 at 8.40PM tomorrow night in what will be a mouthwatering clash between 2nd and 3rd who are currently equal and only goal difference seperating the two.

LIONS RUN RAMPANT IN BACK TO BACK WINS 🔥

Round 2 FT: Metalurg 10-0 NFNC

In a history making first, the Lions have claimed their second win and second clean sheet in a row tonight, smashing NFNC by 10 goals.

Before this, the Lions had never recorded back to back wins by over 10 goals or consecutive clean sheets.

Despite two core players being injured and unable to participate, the Lions were Inspired by the return of ‘Skinny Bill’ and his magical feet, and were unstoppable from start to finish in a commanding performance. The Lions were also boosted with a late inclusion from Stankovski who rocked up 5 minutes into the game and even grabbed a brace despite a partial tear to the knee which some may say is due to ‘other reasons’.

The Lions were lethal in attack and controlling in possession and did not give a sniff to the opposition the entire game. Karevski was a strong presence up forward in superb link up play, young gun C. Nikoloski impacted the scoreboard when it counted and Paunkoski stood tall in defence. A. Nikoloski pulled off one clear cut chance with a superb save to deny any consolation and was a strong presence as the ‘6th man’ linking up in many movements.

The sun places the Lions pole position ahead of next week’s clash.

Our boys in red are off to a winning start on their return to futsal with a comfortable win over a gallant Instinct side.

Hightlight of the night was Miki Paunkoski’s own goal after a mix up at the back. However, the club legend recovered and got himself a well earned hat-trick. It was great to see Stankovski make his long awaited return from injury and record two assists.

CLUB STATEMENT | LIONS TO RESUME PLAYING

Metalurg Lions are delighted to announce that the club has confirmed its participation in the Mens Division 2 Winter Season 2023 at YMCA Leisure City in Epping on Wednesday Nights.

Club co-founders reached an agreement last month to resume competitive football on Wednesday Nights with a majority vote of four to one. Under the agreement, the starting five will be based purely on original players from the club’s inception in 2015 only, with a plus one ‘medi-sub’ to be included. The medi-sub fills are included based on ‘order of commencement’ with the club, with players that have played since inception or soon after to be included in order of priority.

“It will be good to get together, to finally play together with the originals again, have a kick and simply enjoy our football stress free” exclaimed club veteran Nikoloski. “We aren’t necessarily fussed about results or finals football, we just want to enjoy being together as an original team and whatever happens, happens.”. Co-founder M.Paunkoski echoed Nikoloski’s sentiment; “we haven’t caught up as a group in a long time, we want to bring that feel good feeling back again, bring back a positive and united culture and just enjoy it stress free. All the boys are buzzing.”

Metalurg Lions are also thrilled to announce that Stankovski has rejoined the club on a permanent basis and will lineup in a competitive fixture for the first time in four years. Tonight will mark Stankovski’s first appearance in the Red & White since 3 November 2019 v Virgins FC in a 6-6 draw.

The Lions will enter the competition tonight in Round 9 vs ‘Ultra Instinct’ away with kick-off at 8.40PM at YMCA Leisure City, Epping.

CLUB STATEMENT |

Metalurg Lions FC wish to advise to the playing group, members, supporters, sponsors and wider stakeholders that we will not be participating in the upcoming seasons ahead.

After ongoing discussions with the Core Group, co-founders Aleksandar Nikoloski & Miki Paunkoski decided that it was in the best interests of the club not to participate in the upcoming seasons ahead.

‘Overall participation in amongst the last two years of lockdowns have been unstable. We’ve seen in the past year even after lockdowns, with the number of postponed functions & events that are held every weekend it makes it near impossible at times to field a consistent starting lineup and we’ve had to dig past our fill-ins list and field top up players almost every week’ said co-founder Miki Paunkoski.

‘It’s equally important that we take this time to reflect before the next campaign, for the club to restore its cultural values and traditions and remember the pride in putting that jersey on. Aside from a player availability issue, I feel like we’ve lost some commitment in amongst our busy lives and there’s a few areas Ace and myself aren’t happy with. We also have a number of player out of contract/Fill Ins that are potentially coming in that we will be reviewing before finalising a Core List and Fill In list for the next campaign post November’.

Metalurg Lions FC would like to thank the supporters and members for their continued support and understanding, and we look forward to a season at some point in the future of a possible return.

Our boys in red finish a disappointing season on a high with a hard-fought victory against title hopefuls Brexit Football.

Being behind for most of the game, the Lions battled until the final whistle to secure a morale boosting 3 points. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough, as we bow out in the regular season for a second consecutive season and won’t complete in finals football.

Thank you to our fans for your ongoing support, it is always highly appreciated. We aim to be back bigger and better next season after the much needed break.

After missing out on Finals futsal last season, and starting the new season with a forfeit loss, the understrength Lions have come away with a hard fought win against a gallant Samuel side.

The boys in red set up defensively in a Mourinho like formation, having no interchange substitutes available for the match.

Lions legend Miki Paunkoski and Trajceski were commanding and solid in defence. Darko Jovanovski made a few excellent saves in goal, while Nikoloski and Taseski expertly shaped the tight 2-2-0 formation and looked to counter when going forward.

In the end, a brilliant free kick by Nikoloski in the first half proved enough to bring the 3 points home for the Lions.

A thrilling encounter from start to finish to the neutral. Chasing glory in PlayFutsal record 16th Finals Series, the Lions pounced on a lacklustre Athletic side and never gave the minor premiers a chance to take control of the match, deservingly winning a record 6th Championship in our history.

Dominating play, the Lions lead for majority of the game. Petrovski was sensational in goal when required, arguably his best Finals in a Lions shirt. Nastevski, Nikoloski, Stojanovski and Bozinovski were sensational on field. Lions superstar Daniel Paunkoski was a General, commanding both in defence and attack, and producing the magic our boys in red needed. Popovski however, was the standout of the night, brilliant all over the pitch for the Lions, earning the MOTM award in the Grand Final.

Earlier in the night, the Lions brushed away regular season runners-up in a dominant Semi Final display. Petrovski had his best game between the sticks for the Lions, while Daniel Paunkoski and Kosta Popovski ran the show on the field. Honourable mentions to Bozinovski - who added 4 assists, most for him in one game since joining the club, and Daniel Paunkoski - who scored Metalurg Lions’ 1500th goal in our club’s history.
