Put your hands together! We always knew she was a Champion - Corina is now the State XCR Champion for her age group for 2024! She did it in a 10km in rain, mud and wind and in 42min 24sec! Congrats Corina!

Here's some of the legends that ran on Saturday morning! (Thanks Meg for the photos- hope you don't mind me using them) The winner was Alex Rowe! Congrats! Starting them young Grant's- good to see and a lovely photo!

Good evening all! A reminder that we will have a club run at Albert Park tomorrow in conjunction with Parkrun. Starts at 8am - please wear your club singlet. Fraser will be doing the handicaps and the prizes are from St Anne's winery etc. Good luck!

Just a friendly reminder that the AV XCR 2024 season will be starting on the 27th of April with a relay at Jells Park!

All are welcome to join us, go and check out our revamped website and join VCCL 2024 page.

Registration for AV XCR is open now:-
Go to the AV website, under subheading ‘participate’ click on ‘join today’. Scroll down the list of clubs and find ‘VCCL’ and click here to join Victorian Cross Country League. Click ‘join now’.

We recommend you pay for the AV membership rego at this stage and pay per individual race. Unless you’re very confident you’ll get to most races then get the XCR package.

The VCCL registration fee is $70 but it’s free for first year members. If you run 4 individual races there is an incentive for the club to reimburse you the $70. All relay races the club will pay for you.

Signup TODAY and come join us! We will need to organise our relay teams by Monday so please contact via website or VCCL 2024. Happy running!

Congratulations Michael Ryde what a great run to win the 1600m at Stawell! Joel Donnar was 3rd, Alex Rowe 4th and Ash Cowan was 7th - well done! Natalie Densley congrats for your 2nd places - so close! We are proud of all our team members and next season of XCR looks very promising!

Yes, a good luck to all our members competing at Stawell on this Easter weekend. We will be watching and cheering you on. Have safe travels whether competing or on an Easter break.

What a performance by Old Xaverians member Riley Bryce at South Melbourne Physio Victorian Track & Field Championships – who became the first person ever to win the 800m, 1500m and Mile Victorian titles in a single season. 👏

The only similar feat dates back to the 1959/60 season, when Herb Elliott took home the Mile, 800m and 880yds in the season.

Good news! AV have emailed the schedule for the coming XCR Season. I hope your Summer season and/or training has been kind to you! I do know that Michael Marantelli went over to Japan to run the Osaka Marathon and came 94th overall which is mighty effort! Riley Bryce won the Open Victorian Championship for the 800m, 1500m and Mile - Congratulations you Champs! Sorry if I have missed anyone else.

Good evening, we will be holding our AGM at the Boyd Centre -Southbank at 10am on the 26th of November. It would be great to see you there.

Well it’s the end of another season! This is a wrap up of 2023 and how we did!

As a smaller club in AV we hit hard for our weight! The last race was a relay around The Tan and all available came out to represent. We had 17 runners and here are the results:-
MDiv2 - 3rd, MDiv5 - 3rd, MDiv7 - 2nd and WDiv4 - 6th (unfortunately we had some super fast girls then a season tired 63 year old) next year!

The season had tough trail runs and 2 x road races with distances between 3.8km to a half marathon.

The results of the AV season are:-
MDiv2 - 4th
MDiv5 - 9th
MDiv7 - 10th

WDiv4 - 2nd and I am proud to announce we are being put up to Div.3 next year!
W50+ - 10th
W60+ 3rd

Corina Kapusta was 2nd in her age group and Janine Mckerron was 4th in 60+.

The Park runs were all over the country, Echuca, Shoal Haven, Margaret River, Jindabyne, Phillip Island, Portarlington and numerous city areas! Out of 11 races we had 8 different winners, with Natalie Densley and Mark Andrews winning multiple times.

We hope you enjoyed 2023 and you did some PB‘s, reached your goals and made some new mates. Good luck for your Summer comps. We will be cheering you on! Hope to see you all,and of course all new runners more than welcome to our team next year!

This Sunday the 10th is at Westgate Park at 10am for 5km. It is our only Club run that brings together the Parkrunners and the AV team it would be great if you could attend. There is prize money of $240 for the winner! Hope to see you there.

Congrats to Mark O’brien for the win this weekend for the Parkrun 5km! Long time coming! Francis Dowdle was 2nd and Fraser Murray 3rd.

The week before was the AV Eiken relays and MDiv2 was 8th and Wdiv4 was 5th - thanks Meg Deane! This years ladders so far:-
MDiv2 3rd and WDiv4 - 2nd! Only 2more races to go -the Burnley half marathon this weekend- you must register by tomorrow 12pm. Hope to see you there!

Don’t forget there is a Club run at Westgate park, Port Melbourne on the 10th of September. It is a 5km and first place has a $240 purse!

Congrats to Irene James for winning the Parkrun 5km last weekend! Irene and Wayne are off to Canada and Alaska now, enjoy your adventure guys! Mark Andrews was 2nd and Corey Lawson 3rd, well done guys.
