But did you know it's not the full quote?
The customer can buy whatever product they want, but it doesn't mean they can abuse and disrespect workers.
Everyone has a right to feel safe and protected in their workplace

UNION WIN! SDA wins tough new penalties for customer violence in WA!
The SDA has previously won tougher penalties for assaults on retail workers in South Australia and New South Wales, complimenting the existing protections for all workers in the Northern Territory.
This recognises the importance of the work done by SDA members and the significance of the harm that is done by customer violence.
The new WA laws will mean that assaulting a retail or fast food worker will have tougher new consequences - with a doubling of fines and much higher maximum imprisonment sentences.
โ If dealt with summarily by a magistrate, a maximum penalty of $36,000 and/or three years in prison (double the current penalties for assaults)
โ If sent to a district court, a maximum penalty of seven years in prison
โ If a perpetrator is armed or in the company of others, ten years in prison
Retail workers deserve to be protected from customer violence!

Big news for young workers today!
We've just filed a groundbreaking case in the Fair Work Commission to abolish junior rates for workers aged 18 and over in retail, fast food and pharmacy.
Our message is clear: if you're of adult age, you should be paid an adult wage.
It's not fair for workers like Gabbi to be paid less for doing the exact same work as her co-workers who are over 20.
