Hello all. Tommy Quick (stroke @12, and bike v car accident survivor along the journey) has been pedalling around Australia 9000kms for awareness of stroke in youth and inclusion. He concludes his ride tomorrow at 2pm at Footscray Rowing Club. Would be terrific to get a big welcome home gathering. Please come along to recognise his enthusiasm and enormous effort over the past 3 years. I will be riding the last stage with Tommy from Burnside to Footscray.
Bring some coins to help his fundraising too.
Wow what a day at the Volunteer Centre. We gave out 18 restored bikes to new arrivals and had a very busy day with friends from Iran and Afghanistan and Tibet.....all left very happy. But if u have an old bike to donate please help us restock. We'll done to our volunteer crew who cranked out some bikes in record time to meet the demand.
Donations needed!
This month is shaping up to be one of our biggest months ever for donations, with over 40 bikes already out the door to refugees & asylum seekers and next month is shaping up to be just as busy.
To keep delivering these fantastic results we need you!
If you have a bike that’s been sitting in the garage a little too long and needs a new home, some kids bikes that got outgrown far too quickly or a fleet of glistening titanium road bikes you just want to get rid of (we can dream) then please reach out.
You’ll not only be helping us keep over 1500 bikes per year out of landfill, but you will be contributing to our mission to provide equitable access to transport for those that need it most.
Donation drop offs can be made to our Moreland St store Monday- Saturday during opening ours or our Mills close depot Saturdays 10-3. (And if you have enough bikes we may even be able to make the trip out to you!)

Our Story
The Footscray Community Bike Shed is a Footscray Rotary initiative bringing together local service providers, bike enthusiasts and refugees and asylum seekers in need of wheels.
The shed takes unwanted donated bikes of all shapes and sizes.
Volunteer mechanics give the bikes a good service and clean.
Bikes are given away to people in need.
All bike recipients are prepared with a bike safety session delivered by our lovely friends at Footscray AMES.
All bikes are also kitted up complete with a helmet, lock, bell and lights so recipients are ready to ride out of the shed in safety.
The bike shed is always looking for donated bikes which are in good condition and volunteer mechanics who like to tinker with bikes.
If you would like to get involved or donate a bike visit the bike shed on any given Saturday between 11am - 3pm.
We’re a friendly welcoming bunch who are doing our bit for building a healthy sense of community and sustainable transport.
We acknowledge the Ancestors, Elders, and families of the Boonwurrung and Woiwurrung (Wurundjeri) people, the traditional custodians of the land. Sovereignty never ceded.
