📢Business Mission to Thailand 🛫🇹🇭

Elkamy Consulting, in collaboration with the Royal Thai Embassy Canberra, the Thailand Board of Investment’s Sydney Office, the Thai Trade Centre Sydney and the Australia Thailand Business Council, is seeking expressions of interest from Australian businesses interested in participating in a Business Mission to Thailand from 21 to 24 August 2023.

The mission to Thailand will consist of bilateral meetings with senior government officials and other priority stakeholders focusing on investment and trade opportunities for Australian businesses in Thailand. Businesses interested in Thailand’s Bio Circular Green (BCG) industries, manufacturing opportunities or simply wish to understand more about the trade and investment opportunities in the country are encouraged to express interest.

Further details about the Business Mission will be provided after the Expression of Interest process concludes to ensure the mission program aligns with the needs of the mission delegation.

Expressions of Interest can be submitted by 31 May 2023 at www.elkamy.com.au/thailandmission

Today is Songkran, the Thai New Year.

The word Songkran comes from a phrase in the Sanskrit language that means “passage of the sun’, and the focus of this holiday is all about moving forward.

Water plays a major role in the festival. Symbolically it washes away the previous year so people can get ready for the next one. Street parties featuring loud music and a giant friendly water fight are a common way to celebrate.

Wishing the WA Thai community a very Happy Songkran, and may the year ahead be filled with happiness, prosperity and success.

Ambassador-designate of Thailand attended an evening function to celebrate the re-opening of the Royal Thai Honorary Consulate Melbourne.

On 4 February 2023, Ms. Arjaree Sriratanaban, Ambassador-designate of Thailand, attended the evening function hosted by the Royal Thai Honorary Consulate Melbourne to celebrate the re-opening of the Royal Thai Honorary Consulate in Melbourne and to introduce the new Honorary Consul of Thailand in Melbourne. In her remarks, Ambassador Arjaree congratulated Ms. Tessa Sullivan on her appointment as Honorary Consul. She also emphasized the important roles of the Honorary Consul in safeguarding and advancing the interest of Thailand, contributing to the well-being of Thai community in Victoria, as well as supporting the efforts to further enhancing the relations between Thailand and Australia. Noting the broad and long-standing bilateral ties, she also underscored potentials for both sides to deepen economic engagement, trade and investments, expand collaboration in sectors of mutual benefits, and strengthen people-to-people links.

On 3 February 2023, Ms. Arjaree Sriratanaban, Ambassador-designate of Thailand, met Dr. Michael Fullilove, Executive Director, The Lowy Institute in Sydney. Both sides discussed works of the Institute and exchanged views on issues of mutual interests, including possible ways and means to further strengthen the existing close and cordial bilateral relations between Thailand and Australia, as well as the role of Australia in the Southeast Asian region. Consul-General Hataya Khusakul, Royal Thai Consulate-General, Sydney and Director Susannah Patton, Southeast Asia Programme, The Lowy Institute also joined the meeting.

On 2 February 2023, Ms. Arjaree Sriratanban, Ambassasdor-designate of Thailand, met with Mr. Justin Bassi, Executive Director, Australia Strategic Policy Institute (ASPI) and exchanged views on issues of mutual interests as well as ways to enhance collaboration and academic exchanges between policy makers and think tanks in Thailand and Australia.
ASPI is an independent and non-partisan think tank with an authoritative voice on issues related to strategic, national security, cyber, technology and foreign interference.

Ambassador-designate of Thailand called on High Commissioner of Tonga to Australia.

On 2 February 2023, Ms. Arjaree Sriratanaban, Ambassador-designate of Thailand, paid an introductory call on Her Royal Highness Princess Angelika Latufuipeka Tuku’aho, High Commissioner of the Kingdom of Tonga to the Commonwealth of Australia. Both sides discussed ways to enhance Thailand-Tonga relations in the post-COVID period and exchanged views on issues of mutual interests. Ambassador Arjaree also presented Thailand’s readiness to host Specialised Expo 2028 in Phuket to Her Royal Highness and sought Tonga’s support for Thailand’s candidature.

On this occasion, Ambassador-designate Arjaree reaffirmed Thailand’s readiness to further expand and relations as well as strengthen cooperation in mutually beneficial sectors, including those related to bio-circular-green (BCG) economy, such as renewable energy, food and agri-tech and digital economy.
