The OzFish Seeds for Snapper volunteer induction is being held at the Club on Sunday, 27th October from 1pm to 2pm. Volunteer roles include divers, boaters, and onshore support.

In the induction you will learn about each of the roles and what is expected, how to harvest seagrass, and the processing techniques.

Keep up-to-date with Swan River restrictions
The commencement of piling for the new Fremantle Traffic Bridge has seen restrictions implemented for swimmers and passive craft to ensure everyone’s safety.
The restrictions will be in place from September 1 for up to a year and apply to swimmers, snorkellers, diver, dogs, stand-up paddlers, kayakers, rowers and hydrofoil enthusiasts.

If you’ve been working on commercial vessels for a while but without a ticket, transitional arrangements which make it easier to qualify and apply for low-complexity tickets expire soon.

These tickets include the new Coxswain Grade 3 which replaced Exemption 38 (Low complexity duties) on 1 January 2023, and the formal General Purpose Hand ticket.

These transitional arrangements won’t be around for long. So if you haven’t already, make the most of them now.

The channel 81 repeater at Rat Island is currently being monitored 24/7 by Marine Rescue Whitfords / VJ6LQ until further notice.

Due to erosion problems, the Antenna Mast at Point Moore, Geraldton has had to be dismantled.
Through the magic of DFES’s Radio over Internet Protocol (RoIP) Network, M.R. Whitfords is able to be connected electronically with the new antenna site on the Moresby Ranges.
Channels 16, 72 & 82 are still being monitored by Marine Rescue Geraldton as per their normal schedule.
