We had a wonderful start to the term with a NAIDOC Week Smoking Ceremony and Assembly.
Our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students honoured us with a traditional dance alongside the smoking ceremony run by Eric Brown. We were privileged to receive a Welcome to Country from Aunty Marge Dixon, who shared stories about growing up as an Aboriginal person. We were inspired by Kylie Captain, the Director of Dream Big Education Wellbeing & Consulting , who shared with us her remarkable journey and success, alongside our Brigidine Alumni Marnie Bathis, who shared her post-school journey. A heartfelt thank you to Petra Silva from the Strengthening Our Mob Program for speaking at our assembly and working with our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students. And finally, a huge thank you to Natalie Harkins, our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Coordinator, for organising this uplifting and inspiring event.
