Our goal at Freeman is to provide quality catholic education.

Freeman Rugby League has endured some challenging times and heartbreak over the last few seasons. It has been a long time since a team has made a Grand Final, but tomorrow that changes. The boys have taken a step further than last year’s result, and they have earned their place in the final against Maronite College of the Holy Family. Congratulations boys and good luck. We know you will make Freeman proud! 💪🏼🏉

Mrs Newton, Mrs DiPietro and Mrs White combined their Year 10 Food Technology, Year 11 Food Technology and Year 12 VET Hospitality classes for a Food Truck Incursion. Students enjoyed a Q & A session with the small business owner Bijay, as he addressed a variety of aspects that correlate student learning objectives in these subjects with real life experiences. Students thoroughly enjoyed a sensational burger and fries at the end of the session. Thank you Mr.PIG for your visit to FCC.

Year 10 had their third 10:10 session of the year that focuses on educating them about consent. On Thursday, the Sydney Catholic Schools speakers touched upon marriage as a valid sacrament and how the basis of marriage is all about giving yourself freely, totally, faithfully and fruitfully. The speakers also spoke about truth vs lie, how it is important to be faithful and turn to God in challenging times

Congratulations to our 2025 SRC. Today we inducted 24 young men and women who will lead our student community for the next 12 months. Lauren Joseph and Tyrese Urrutia as our School Captains committed to continuing the legacy entrusted to us from Cardinal Freeman; to be servant leaders and live our Gospel values by Proclaiming the Good News. We also thank our outgoing SRC, led by Jacinta Esho and Marko Simovic, for their remarkable service to the community.

Congratulations to Johnson Tsakirakis in Year 9 and Nathan Nietes in Year 7.

Johnson recently competed in Melbourne at the Australian Senior Nationals for Wrestling. At 14 years of age, he was the youngest athlete to compete in the event after receiving special permission and went on to win the Under 17 - 80 kilogram division. Johnson came first and won Gold, and has now qualified to represent Australia this September in the UWW Southeast Asian Wrestling tournament in Chang Mai, Thailand. An incredible achievement. We congratulate Johnson and wish him all the best in Thailand.

We are also thrilled to congratulate our Year 7 student, Nathan Nietes, for his outstanding achievement at the recent NSW Taekwondo Tournament held at Sydney Olympic Park. Nathan showcased his incredible skill by defeating two opponents and securing the Gold medal! We are excited to announce that Nathan will be representing NSW at the National Taekwondo Tournament in Brisbane this November 2024. Well done, Nathan!

Well done to both and we wish you all the best in your upcoming tournaments.

Congratulations to Christian Labis, recipient of the Archbishop's Award for Student Excellence. Christian's leadership of Parish Life on the SRC, engagement in World Youth Day, ministry in the Mary Immaculate Parish at Bossley Park, and commitment to living our faith every day makes him a very worthy award winner.

Yesterday, Year 7 hosted a Jersey Day to raise funds for St.Vincent De Paul’s Winter Appeal, which focused on supporting homeless people in our local community. Our school community demonstrated a powerful sense of unity by wearing their favourite team jerseys and raising awareness and funds to provide essential resources like warmth and shelter for those in need during these cold winter months. This was a fantastic way for our school to show their community spirit while making a real impact on the lives of others. Vinnies Australia Sydney Catholic Schools

Senior Rugby League; made the quarter finalists of the Sydney Catholic Schools competition. Unfortunately they lost 12-11 in an exciting game to the eventual winners of the competition, St Patrick's Sutherland. It was the last game for our Year 12 students and they should be acknowledged for their outstanding contribution to rugby league for many years. They included our captain, Luke Darke, leading as always, with Sam Haifa, Caleb Vanderwert, Jayden Nguyen, our heroic fullback, Stavro Muosa, and our most improved player Noah Flynn all from Year 12. We are blessed to have so many talented players coming back again next year, including our inspirational half back, Jonathon Mansour. who represents the Cronulla Sharks in the SG Ball. Jonathon also made the Coach's Open team for Combined Catholic Colleges carnival. We are so proud of his efforts and we wish him all the best for his future. Stavro Yousif, Patrick La Houd, Dominic Uli and Deon Hayes, were others who continually performed outstandingly on the field each week. Deon also made the U/15 Sydney Catholic Schools team and is a very courageous and talented player, considering he is playing in the senior team as a Year 9 student.

Many of these younger players, along with Carlos Duong, Harry and Andrew Qummou and a host of up and coming boys from Year 8/9 are currently engaged in the Parramatta Cup. They have managed to win 3 and draw one of their first 5 games. They play last year's premiers, Gilroy, next week and it should be a great game.

Our school athletics carnival took place at Blacktown this year. Jasmin Morabello was outstanding, breaking three school records in the Opens 100, 200 400m. The Freeman Athletics team has been selected and is currently training hard in preparation for their Conference 4 Championships, held at Sydney Olympic Park next week. Successful athletes at this carnival will go on to represent Freeman at the Sydney Schools Athletics Championships at the same venue a week later. Congratulations to our appointed captains, Gabriel Menolotto and Jasmine Morabello. They will lead the team with distinction.

Artists' Evolution Instrumental Ensemble

Congratulations to Ricco Giuliani-Bruno of Year 10, who has been selected as the drummer for one of the ensembles in the SCS 'Artist Evolution' program.

Sydney Catholic Schools has two ensembles made up of talented students from across the Archdiocese, which is an opportunity for students to create exceptional music through collaboration with peers from other schools and networks.

The students’ first performance will be at the Network Festival in Term 4. Freeman will be hosting one of these Network Festivals in November. More details to follow.

Congratulations to Ricco on his success in being selected to join this ensemble.

As a community we gathered today for mass, on this holy day of obligation, celebrating Mary, Mother of God, and the Feast of the Assumption. Cardinal Freeman asked that we always pray to Mary to intercede for us, and guide us. His episcopal motto; Per ipsum ipsa duce, meaning 'With Him, under her leadership' reminds us to always find a place for Mary in our lives.

Feast of St. Mary of the Cross MacKillop was last Thursday 8 August. As one of our House Patrons, we strive to follow in her example 'We must teach more by example than word'. As we remember the importance of 'Bullying No Way - National Week of Action', we are all challenged to live St. Mary MacKillop's words and make everyone feel important and know they are valued and belong. Bullying No Way Week is a commitment being made by thousands of schools and supporters across the country. It provides an opportunity to demonstrate our commitment to bullying prevention.
The new hero colour for the campaign is purple – symbolising peace, strength and empowerment to take a stand against bullying behaviour.
The theme for this year's campaign is Everyone belongs. This theme highlights the importance of creating a sense of belonging and inclusion for students. We recognise bullying often thrives in environments where individuals feel marginalised or excluded, and it is our collective responsibility to ensure that every student feels valued and respected.
Students will engage with different daily messages throughout the week with their teachers and peers as we continue to work together in creating a school environment that values belonging and inclusion for all students.

We are now mid way through the HSC Trials. Our students have been working hard preparing and studying, and we know their dedication and collaborative efforts will help them achieve their personal best. Before their Trials began, they engaged with the 20 year old tradition begun by Mr. Michael Addicoat - the I-WAM talk. The commitment to excellence 'I Want Another Mark!'. Like many Year 12 students before them they received their I-WAM ruler, and as a surprise, when they entered the hall for the first time they were gifted with an I-WAM pen. You are all in our prayers.
