The Year 5/6 students welcomed their parents in to celebrate their learning in Religious Education on Wednesday.
Our students and parents worked through the SEE JUDGE ACT model. Thank you to all who joined us! ☘️

This term, Stage 3 have been studying the text Rabbit, Soldier, Angel, Thief by Australian author Katrina Nannestad. It is about a boy Sasha, who becomes part of the Red Army in WW2 at the age of 6. He fights in a way only children can, with love.

We have been so captivated by the text and were lucky enough to have Katrina zoom with us for an hour today. She spoke about her writing process, characterisation and answered questions that students had.

She asked the students to consider the following:
- Does one person have the power to make a change in the world for good?
- Not having a heart is much worse than not having a brain

The students were given some time after her talk to reflect on what they had heard.

Thank you Katrina for your time, your wisdom and for making even the non-readers, read! We can't wait to finish the book!

St Patrick's gathered as a school community to celebrate the achievements of all the students who participated at our Athletics Carnival with such skill and team spirit. We also crowned the first ever St Patrick's Age Champions and presented the winning house colour with the shield🛡️! Well done team!

Today our Year 3 students prepared for their upcoming First Holy Communion at a reflection day at school 👣. We wish them all the best in the lead up to this very special sacrament and we know that they will remember this special time and cherish it forever. 🙏

In Science, Year 1 have been learning about living things. On Monday 27th May, we visited the Field of Mars Reserve to become scientists and explore living things - plant life and animals. We had so much fun! 🪲🔬🌱

On Monday 27th May, five Stage 2 teams participated in our network's Interschool Oztag Gala Day. All students, with differing levels of experience in the sport, gave it a go and enjoyed competing against other schools. Thank you to our three Stage 3 referees and our parent helpers who assisted the teams on the day. 🏉🏃🏻‍♂️

🏃🏻‍♀️Today at Eastern Creek, 22 students represented our school at the Sydney Catholic Schools Conference Cross Country Trials. We were so lucky that the sun was shining which made for perfect running conditions.

Congratulations to the following students for making the school Cross Country team and putting in their best efforts this morning: Indie T, Emily S, Tahlia B, Annabelle F, Daniel S, Hugo D, Robert M, Dimitri M, Noah T, Roko S, Sebastian P-G, Eli N, Elliot B, Hendrix K, Oliver D, Mia C, Mila W, Hannah C, Kiera M, Doroteja N, Lucy C & Evelyn H.

A special mention must go to Kiera M who placed 1st out out of 99 runners in the conference two 10 Year Old girls 2km race. Mia C also placed 6th out of 89 running in the conference two 11 Year Old girls 3km race.

It was so heartwarming to see all the students cheering for one another as they started their races and approached the finish line.

Thank you to the parents/grandparents who drove the students to and from the event.

WALK SAFELY TO SCHOOL DAY 🚶🏻‍♀️🚸🏫
Today was National Walk Safely to School Day. This is an annual event when all primary school children are encouraged to walk and commute safely to school. It seeks to promote Road Safety, Health, Public Transport and the Environment. Today the St Patrick's community participated. The weather held out, allowing so many of our families to get their steps up this morning with many parents, students, staff and dogs meeting at Howse Park for our first school community walk. Once back at school, the students enjoyed some fruit that was donated from local Woolworths stores. Well done everyone!

On May 20th, our school will begin the Australian Early Development Census. The AEDC helps to build a nationwide picture of our children’s health and wellbeing as they begin school.
Teachers answer questions about five key areas that are important for children's development:
- physical health and wellbeing
- social competence
- emotional maturity
- language and cognitive skills (school-based) communication skills and general knowledge.
