Brain Injury Awareness Week (19 to 25 August) is a time to reflect on how we can better support the 1 in 45 Aussies living with a brain injury.
Disabilities related to ABI or acquired brain injury tend to be complex - people with an ABI experience challenges to the way they think, learn and react.
This leads to struggles with making connections with others.
Help is available. Learn more about ABI in our post π§ https://afea.com.au/what-is-an-acquired-brain-injury/

What's it like living with a brain injury?
Acquired brain injury or ABI refers to any damage to the brain that occurs after birth, rather than as part of a genetic or congenital disorder π§
Ahead of Brain Injury Awareness Week , we share these words from an NDIS participant who is living with the condition. We hope their experience can inspire us all to be more patient and compassionate.
Join us in raising awareness about ABI. Do you have a story you want to tell? Share in the comments.
