Students must engage in interest-based negotiation, where students focus on the underlying motivations connected to the dispute rather than a win-lose paradigm.

Mock Mediation
On Tuesday, our Mediation team participated in the NSW Law Society's Mock Mediation competition. In this competition, a team of 6 students assumes a role of either a disputing party or a Mediator. The team is given a set of facts where four of team of involved in a fictional dispute.
The team must follow formal processes, engage in negotiation and work towards resolving the dispute. The competition mimics real world mediation practices used within the legal system.
The dispute our students were engaged with today related to a conflict arising from a fictional school fund-raiser where there was disagreement about how the funds would be allocated.
All of our team participated with distinction and we are very proud of each of them.
Congratulations to our Year 10 students who completed the Fit for Work program run and sponsored by PCYC. To celebrate their success, our students enjoyed a day ice skating. For many, it was their first skating experience. It was wonderful to watch how these young ladies encouraged and supported each other to develop their ice-skating skills and build their confidence. Within 2hours they were skating with ease and big smiles.
