Health First NQ is a quickly growing multidisciplinary Allied Health Team consisting of Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists and Exercise Physiologists. Working out of fitness centers such as Strand Fitness and Snap Fitness here in Townsville.

Our practitioners work with a wide variety of clientele including Musculoskeletal injuries, Defence Veterans', NDIS participants, junior athletes, corporate employees and workers compensations patients. 🚨 New Study Alert! 🚨
Groundbreaking research published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine has found that isometric exercise can be highly effective in preventing and lowering high blood pressure. 🏋️‍♂️❤️ Isometric exercises involve contracting your muscles without moving your joints, such as holding a plank or wall sit.
By reviewing 270 trials involving 15,827 participants from 1990 to 2023, researchers discovered that isometric exercises resulted in the most significant reductions in both systolic and diastolic blood pressure.
If you have high blood pressure, consult with one of our allied health specialists about ways we can incorporate isometric exercises into your routine.

🌊💪 This past weekend, we made waves at the MS Swimathon! 👏 Huge shout out to Kodi, Annie, and Tayla for dedicating 8 hours on a Saturday to this great cause. Together, we completed a whopping 432 laps, covering an incredible 21,500 kilometres! A massive THANK YOU to everyone who supported us and helped raise over $1000 for MS research and support.

❓What is the difference between Exercise Physiology and Physiotherapy❓

Exercise Physiology:
🔘 Examines the acute and chronic physiological responses and adaptations to physical activity and exercise.
🔘 Studies how the body's systems (cardiovascular, respiratory, musculoskeletal, etc.) respond to exercise stimuli.

Physiotherapy:
🔘 Involves assessing, diagnosing, and treating musculoskeletal and movement disorders or injuries.
🔘 Addresses rehabilitation and functional recovery through manual therapy, exercise prescription, and patient education.

It's important to note that there is a significant overlap between Exercise Physiology and Physiotherapy in certain areas of practice, especially when it comes to rehabilitation and exercise prescription.

In summary, exercise physiology primarily deals with the physiological effects of exercise on the body, whereas physiotherapy focuses on rehabilitation and restoring functional movement in individuals with injuries or physical limitations. Both fields complement each other in promoting health, fitness, and recovery.
