Celebrating the life of John Bramley.

There will be a gathering of family and friends to reflect on and celebrate the life of our friend and Life Member John Brambley.
This will take place at 2pm, Wednesday 31st July at the Oak Flats Bowling Club.

All members past and present, as well as those who knew John through their involvement with the club, are warmly invited to attend. Dress code is smart casual. Current and Former players are encouraged to wear their club colours. Life Members to wear their blazers.

It is with deep sadness that today we have to say goodbye to our great friend, club stalwart, Life member & Founding member John Bramley (Brams).

Hands down the longest serving member of his beloved Oak Flats Cricket Club, Brams has done it all over the last 49 years. Other than being part of the core group responsible for transforming a cow paddock into an incredible sporting facility we now know as Geoff Shaw Oval, he was a player from day 1, he was a captain & he held every board position at some stage. He ran the club for many years, he coached juniors, he helped raise countless sums of money, organised functions & in recent years, assisted with curating duties, plus personally maintained the appearance of the ground. Duties which have helped the club host numerous 1st grade finals, junior & senior representative cricket, as well as several first-class tournaments. It’s fair to say that no other ground has had no better care than Geoff Shaw Oval & we have been incredibly fortunate to have had someone as passionate as Brams maintaining it. You could always count on everything being perfect on his watch.
Brams also served as a delegate to Southern Zone Cricket for many years.

John made his 1st grade debut for the club against Jamberoo on the 6th January 1977 with cap #18. He was also the 2nd Inductee of the OFCC Life Membership. Still to this day, one of the hardest of membership clubs to gain entry into.

In 2019, Brams was again recognised for his contributions to the club by co naming the new workshop in our new clubhouse facilities in his honour.

John, you are forever in our hearts. Forever our number 1 supporter, forever our dearest friend & defacto step-father to thousands of young Rats that you saw grow from kids to in some cases, some of the best cricketers in the world.

To Jenny and the rest of the family, we send our appreciation for allowing John to devote so much of his time to helping our club get to where it is today and we offer our thoughts/prayers during this time.

Vale Mark Brockman.

Sending our love to Fiona, Matt, Hannah & the Kiama Cavaliers.

Coach to a large number of us growing up in various rep teams. Team mate in senior rep teams. An extremely talented, tough & highly respected competitor whenever we played against each other. Passionate about the game of cricket and the development of his beloved Kiama Juniors. Most of all a true friend to anyone who had the pleasure of meeting the man.

He will be deeply missed. Farewell old mate.

The Kiama Cricket Club has lost one of its finest players, best coaches and more importantly all round fantastic person with the passing of Life Member Mark Brockman.

Known to all as β€˜Brocky’, Mark arrived at the Kiama Cricket Club in 1994 with a formidable cricket resume behind him, and almost immediately announced himself scoring 120 in 1st Grade against Jamberoo at the Kiama Sporting Complex. Mark’s fierce and combative nature on the field helped to bring steel to a Kiama team and club that helped them to become a more competitive team. His 3019 runs at 23.40 ranks 8th for Kiama in 1st Grade, and 5685 runs in all grades ranks him 6th all time for the club. His leadership on and off the field during his playing days served to bring about a belief in the playing group that they could succeed even against the toughest odds.

Mark’s greatest asset to the club came through his coaching of the junior ranks, and the number of players he was able to inspire to become the best version of themselves on and off the field. His coaching not only created improvements in cricket skills but saw a consistent flow of players from his junior teams into grade cricket and more often than not 1st Grade cricket. There are countless numbers of Kiama juniors who have played 1st Grade and representative cricket through Mark’s persistent coaching efforts, all of whom will always hold the memories of Mark’s unwavering support for their cricket.

β€˜Brocky’ had an amazing love of the game of cricket, was always happy to discuss the virtues of the game at every level, and always had a desire to see the Kiama Cricket Club find success. Through his unbridled efforts, the success the club has achieved can be at least partly attributed to his efforts. He was awarded Life Membership of the club a couple of years ago, an honour he was humbled by. His determination to fight his recent illness was reminiscent of what he did on the cricket field, and he never stopped wanting to help young cricketers become the better versions of themselves. Off the field, he was a humorous companion, loyal and steadfast friend, and a loving family man.

To Fiona, Matt and Hannah, and his entire family, the Kiama Cricket Club offers its heartfelt condolences, love and support.

Vale Mark Brockman, one of the finest the Kiama Cricket Club has been proud to call one of their own.

On to the big one we go!

The Ladies T20 side has just won their Semi final in an incredible chase that went right down to the last ball.

Well played to the Kiama Cavaliers ladies. Obviously heading in the right direction & will no doubt be in the hunt again next season.

Next week, the Ratatouilles face a red hot Rail Black side in a repeat of last seasons Grand Final. Both teams shared honours in the regular rounds & both finished on equal points at the end. Should be another cracker!
