The Covid-19 pandemic has drastically changed the world of biomedical design. The advancement of vaccine technology, being one of the most important changes, has been instrumental in exposing one of the biomedical industry’s largest challenges: gaining user trust. Despite scientific evidence supporting the role vaccines play in preventing the spread of infectious disease, a large portion of the human population still remains unvaccinated. While many individuals simply refuse the vaccine, a large portion either have limited access to the vaccine or have not been provided with adequate education to feel confident in being vaccinated. This lack of vaccine accessibility is especially evident in oppressed and remote communities where vaccine rates are consistently amongst the lowest in the world.
Biomedical professionals play a crucial role in fighting back against the inequitable, and detrimental vaccine and vaccine education shortage amongst these populations. Our conference aims to the cause of vaccine hesitancy in these communities and ways in which we can reduce it.
