Fall Orientation is officially underway at . Things kicked off this morning with a parade down Union Avenue to Richardson Stadium, where first-year students from all faculties were officially welcomed by Principal Patrick Deane and student orientation leaders. They also learned Queen’s traditions like the Oil Thigh and how to cheer “Cha Gheil!”

As the new academic year kicks off, Queen's University is launching a social media campaign to welcome both new and returning students to campus. Two videos from the campaign feature heartfelt messages from upper-year students sharing what makes Queen’s special and their best advice for their new peers.

Beyond the warm welcomes, the university is also focusing on safety and good citizenship to support a positive start to the fall semester for both students and the Kingston community.

If you’ve strolled down University Avenue in the last few weeks, you’ve likely seen the gorgeous golden image, overlooking Queen’s campus from Macintosh-Corry Hall.

This is Echoes of Devotion, a large-scale mural by Scarborough artist Anthony Gebrehiwot, incorporating pieces from Agnes’s Justin and Elisabeth Lang Collection of African Art and in collaboration with artist Winsom Winsom who is featured in the work.
