Between all the festive cocktails, dinner parties, holiday baking –– and the stress –– this season can take a toll on your digestion.

If you’re experiencing bloating, pain, rumbling, or other signs of an upset stomach, try these three tips:
• Indulge consciously by being aware of what you’re choosing to nibble on and how much.
• Resist overloading your dinner plate and eat slowly, paying attention to your body’s fullness cues.
• After a large meal, go enjoy a walk while you digest.

Colds and the flu can result in a nasty cough, and in many cases finding the right cough syrup can help give you some relief.

If you are considering a cough syrup, remember the following:

 Always follow the directions on the package.
 Typically, cough syrups can be taken every four hours but it’s important not to take more doses in a day than are recommended.
 Be sure to drink plenty of fluids to assist in breaking up mucus and clearing congestion.

Ask our pharmacist for advice on whether a cough syrup could be helpful and if so, which one they would recommend for you.

For many caregivers, the holiday season can add another level of stress, rather than inspire joy. But it can also present an opportunity to seek better communication and support from family and friends.

This season…
• Be clear about your energy level. Let others know if you feel drained by your caregiving duties and let them take on hosting duties, for example.
• Create and share your wish list. Ask for assistance with home repairs, taking time off, or an opportunity for self-care.
• Write brief thank-you notes to friends and family who visit or lend a hand this year. This will reinforce positive feelings and may encourage them to be more engaged.

There is currently a shortage of Children’s Acetaminophen (Tylenol) and Ibuprofen (Advil or Motrin). It is expected to last through the fall.

Our pharmacy makes custom compounded medications and we are able to help with this shortage by compounding both Acetaminophen and Ibuprofen.

For those unfamiliar with Compounding, it is the process of combining raw ingredients to tailor medications to the needs of a patient. We have a lab that is equipped to make a variety of preparations, including suspensions, ointments, creams, lotions, foams, capsules, suppositories, lozenges, medicated lollipops, medicated gummies, and even pet treats.

Our pharmacy uses bar-code scanning verification of all ingredients, which helps to ensure the safety of our preparations.

Shingles can result in a painful and blistering rash that can last for several weeks. It can also result in serious complications such as long-lasting nerve pain (also called postherpetic neuralgic or PHN), which can last for months or years.

The Shingles Vaccine is recommended by the National Advisory Committee on Immunization (NACI) for all adults 50+in two doses, 2-6 months apart. This can be done without a prescription in Alberta. Come into the pharmacy and we can get you started.

Some insurance plans will cover the cost of the Shingles Vaccines. Provide us with your insurance plan information and we would be happy to check if coverage is available.

COVID tests nixed for flights to US | LinkedIn The airline industry had complained that the requirement was greatly affecting demand for international travel.

If you or a loved one use a cane, we have a convenient product that allows your cane to hang from any flat surface. Ottawa dropping pre-arrival PCR test for fully vaccinated travellers as of Feb. 28 | CBC News Effective Feb. 28, fully vaccinated travellers to Canada will no longer have to take a molecular test, such as a PCR test. Travellers will still be required to take a pre-arrival test, but they can instead opt for a cheaper rapid antigen test.

We have FREE COVID-19 Rapid Test kits for home use.
Each kit contains 5 tests and includes instructions. Our pharmacist is also available to go over how to use the test, if you need.

No appointment needed, simply come in with your Alberta Health Care card and pick one up today.

Each Albertan can get one kit every two weeks. You may also pick up for one other person if you have their Alberta Health Care number.

About half of adults will have hemorrhoids by age 50. They can cause a great deal of discomfort, both physically and socially (people tend to avoid the topic). Our pharmacy makes a specialized suppository for treating hemorrhoids and a**l fissures, called a "Re**al Rocket". They are named for their shape, which is uniquely designed to treat problem areas.

Most suppositories go right past the problem area and release medication inside the body, while ointments can treat problems externally. The re**al rocket allows medication to be delivered directly to the problem area. They are inserted at night and dissolve while releasing medication when you are asleep. By the morning they are gone and you start to feel better.

They are also designed with a specialized slit for "pressure release" (see pictures).

While this may be an uncomfortable topic for some, please be assured that we help people with this on a regular basis and are quite comfortable discussing options to help you or your loved ones improve their quality of life. We have a very private counselling room that allows for confidential discussions and professional staff who are always happy to help.

We also have a variety of options to customize the ingredients of Re**al Rockets. Speak with our compounding pharmacist if you would like information about this option.

We now offer breast pumps for sale and rental! The pumps make a great gift for new mothers.

Our hospital-grade Medela Symphony Breast Pumps are available for rent for only $3 per day with a $50 deposit. The double pumping kit is available for purchase for $65. (This is needed in order to use the pump).

We are also able to compound custom diaper creams tailored to your baby's specific needs.
