Cancellation Policy Reminder

I know life gets busy and things happen. Things come up, we get busy, mother nature decides to play a cruel joke & we get winter - for the 46,894th time… whatever the reason, I’ll understand it.

However, as an appointment based service provider - I don’t get paid if you don’t show up. My income relies 100% on you coming into my office. So, if you don’t communicate that you won’t be able to make it to your appointment or only give me minimal notice the chances of me being able to fill that spot become almost 0%.

So with that, a gentle reminder that appointments no showed or cancelled with less than 6 hours notice may be required to pay $75 before being able to reschedule.

*Extenuating circumstances may be honoured.

Beginning April 1, 2023 massage rates will be increasing. A standard 60 minute treatment will be increased from $84 to $90.

This decision comes after much thought & consideration. Due to increases in industry costs, current market rates, and having over 5 years of industry experience & continued education - I feel this is a necessary change. Full price list will be available.

Have you suffered from sciatica? Don’t be like the guy in 1665 who died of it- come in for a massage & get it treated before death occurs !

“Sciatica refers to pain that travels along the path of the sciatic nerve. The sciatic nerve travels from the lower back through the hips and buttocks and down each leg”.

So often I see people who sit or bend lots in their day to day lives come in with complaints of sciatica. I believe most sciatic pain comes from the sciatic nerve becoming irritated as it travels through the hips & glute muscles, making it easily treatable. For sciatic pain caused by tight glute & hip muscles, I have seen relief with as little as 1-2 treatments.

There are definitely more complicated causes for sciatic pain however, although I do find them less common. One being a herniated or impacted disc at the location where the sciatic nerve leaves the spine and begins to travel downward. Arthritis in the spine affecting said vertebrae can also cause nerve pain. This variation of sciatic pain requires a further investigation with a doctor or physio into what exactly is causing the pain, and the treatment available to you. The second alternative cause is pregnancy. So often pregnant women will come in with complaints of sciatic pain when they don’t have a history of it. This can happen for two different reasons… as our body changes and adjusts to being pregnant in preparation to give birth - our bones change position slightly and can cause a slight pinching on the sciatic nerve. The second reason can be as simple as babies position inside the uterus. If the baby is tucked up close to the spine, the pressure can be enough to irritate the nerve as well. Both of those will often see relief post pregnancy as our bodies return to normal.

So, the good news is nowadays sciatica is incredibly treatable & no longer life threatening!

I understand that more than anything, but last minute cancellations of appointments makes my day just a little bit harder. It is much harder to fill an appointment the day of, then it is with even 1 or 2 days notice..

So unfortunately going forward I will have to charge full price for appointments cancelled the day of.

Hi, in light of the newest updates regarding restrictions there has been some changes around here....

My boss has implemented a “work from home” protocol & I will now be doing all of my massages, from our respective homes, over zoom. Please have that set up and ready prior to our zoom meeting time.

I have teamed up with my good friend Shelby in a fundraiser for the Make A Wish foundation. The fundraiser is Rope for Hope , where if I raise over $1500 before the end of august , I get to rappel down the side of sky scraper in Edmonton.. (scary!) but for such a good cause!

This cause is near and dear to us as Shelby had been diagnosed with cancer in her teens (cancer free for 10 years!! 🎉) and was able to receive her wish through the foundation . I’d love to help her give back & continue helping kids receive their wishes !

There might just be something in it for the highest donator as well ... 😉

Hi all ,
Just a quick update regarding the doctors notes now required for massage.
As the massage therapist I am required to keep a hard copy on file - which is valid for a full year.
Even if your insurance providers already require one, I will need a copy on hand as well..
I’m sorry if this is any inconvenience- but most doctors offices are doing them over the phone so you don’t actually have to go into the clinic or book an appointment. A chiropractor or acupuncturist is also able to write you a referral!
