🎙️Match Report ✒️ Vikram Dhammi
With the tournament nearing the end, the semi final clash between NXL Lions and NXL Raptors moved to a new venue, Mississauga Valley Ground. With bigger boundaries and power hitters in both sides, this match promised to be absolute cracker of a game. Having beaten Lions on both the previous occasions, Raptors were favorites going into this game.
Raptors won the toss and keeping in mind the bigger boundaries and a new pitch, opted to field first. Lions tried with a new opening pair, but Ameya struck in the very first over getting Nilesh out cheaply.
Suyash and Anurag then steadied the ship for Lions adding 41 for the second wicket before Nitin got Anurag caught behind.
Lions then had a mini collapse of the middle order, when Sunil got run out due to a big mix up with Suyash. Sujay soon fell after trying to sneak a second run but an excellent throw by Nitin from deep caught him short of his crease. Swapnil was caught courtesy to a brilliant catch by Yohaan. Having lost 4 wickets in a span of 11 balls, Lions slipped from 45/1 to 51/5.
Murad once again had to rescue Lions out of a tricky situation but he along with Suyash batted brilliantly for a run a ball partnership of 39. Bradford with his economical spell kept the Lions in check.
But the man in form, Suyash, batted sensibly and carried his bat throughout the innings to take his side to a competitive total of 103 on a pitch that had variable bounce.
With close to 7 runs an over required, Raptors fancied their chances to chase the total down with a long batting lineup.
Anurag and Vikram started off the bowling. Lions drew first blood, when Vikram took the wicket of Rahul in the second over. Anurag struck twice in the next over as he got the wickets of Meheran and Nitin thanks to excellent catches of his own bowling and dented the chase further.
At 11/3, Raptors were in a spot of bother and with tight bowling inside the power play, they could manage only 14 runs and the asking rate climbed upto 8.2 rpo.
Saurabh Tripathi then along with Yohaan tried to accelerate, but Jayesh bowled Yohaan in his first over and soon after Murad sent back Saurabh Jadhav in the next over to leave Raptors reeling at 44/5.
Saurabh batted aggressively to keep his team in the chase. But Lions' bowlers kept chipping away with the wickets on the other end at crucial intervals.
An excellent stumping by Sunil, got Aniket out and left the Raptors with a herculean task of 47 runs from 28 balls with just 3 wickets in hand.
But Suyash was outstanding in the field and with the bowl as he wrapped up Raptors' innings with the remaining 2 wickets. Saurabh Tripathi's made a valiant effort with the bat but his team fell short by 31 runs.
In the end, it was Suyash excellent knock and tight bowling by Lions that never let Raptors get ahead in the game.
With this win, Lions booked their final clash with Panthers and also made a strong statement that they cannot be taken lightly.
The finale is going to be a fitting end to the tournament with both finalists having won against each other once. In the end, the team which adapts to the newer conditions and keeps their nerves will win the last bout!!

🌩️NXL Panthers storm into the finals of the Next Leap Cricket Bash🏏
🎙️Match Report
The shorter format of the game doesn’t often produce one-sided affairs. Today, the Panthers decided to bring their A-game to the front and delivered when it mattered the most. The scorecard read 115/4 and 98/8- these numbers reflect how well they did with the bat and the ball.
Batting first, on a slow wicket, the Panthers posted a competitive total of 115 – the inning was spearheaded by Pushpit Samadhiya with a well-crafted innings scoring 62 runs at a strike rate of 137.7. His innings which lasted 51 mins was laden with pure class as he scored all around the ground with well-timed strokes and crisp drives. What stood out was the clarity of thought he had in his batting; this man knows his own game better than anyone. Pushpit’s has a record that most batsmen would dream of every time he gets +30 runs his team has won 100% of the games. With a solid technique combined with an ice-cold head, he is certain to end up among the top scorers.
NXL Raptors, known for their batting prowess, would have backed themselves to chase down this par score. They were provided with a solid start by Yohaan Bhagwagar as he scored 25 runs in 21 balls with 3 clean drives some of these strokes had the Parsi patent attached to them. Anyone who has been to the Mumbai cricket circuit can attest to that. Sourabh Jadhav and Aniket Shinde both scored 21 and 24 runs, respectively. With three batsmen collectively scoring over 60 runs, one would expect the team to cruise to victory, however, the reality was they could never keep up with the strike rate. Between the 3 -10 over their strike rate was around 6 or below. To make matters worse, they lost 5 wickets at the far end of the innings, yet again.
Atul Suryavanshi was the standout bowler with 3 wickets and an economy rate of 2.33 as he gave away only 7 runs in his 3 overs. Himanshu Marpakwar foxed the Raptors picking up 2 crucial wickets in an over which changed the flow of the game. Pushpit Samadhiya, couldn’t step a foot wrong as he picked up 2 wickets giving away only 14 runs in his 3 overs.
The Next Leap cricket bash 2022 has seen some spectacular cricket, with teams not giving away anything, today was a different tale. This was the dominant performance, and it gave us a team worthy of a final.
Can the NXL Raptors put this loss behind them and produce something special tomorrow, or will the NXL Lions steal the thunder in the second Semi-finals tomorrow? Only time will tell

🎙️Match Report:
In cricket, there come a few games where teams are so balanced and skills are so even that every ball becomes a contest. Nerves are tested, one who can hold wins.
One such battle was fought today on a sunny but chilly Saturday morning between Lions & Panthers.
The Lions line-up had bested Panthers the last time they met and were crowd favorites, Panthers were coming on the back of a nail-biting victory against Raptors. The stage was set! The game was on!
Lions batted first and had a cautious start. Twin strikes from Shivam first up to dismiss the openers and some tight bowling by Atul ensured powerplays went in Panther’s favor. 19 of 4ovrs.
Bowling change brought some momentum but a mix up left the attacking Nilesh short of his crease; a bullet throw by Indra ended his blitz.
Sunil fell immediately after in the next over. 32/4 in 5ovrs.
Swapnil & Murad tried to steady the ship but a run out again in the 9th sent Swapnil back. Panthers started building pressure again with some quiet overs by Indra & Abhishek.
Abhishek’s wider from stump plan worked against Jayesh who snicked one to the keeper. Vikram walked in. After seeing off Atul & Shivam off quietly, these 2 put up a brave fight back and put together a 40 run stand to power Lions from 68 for 6 to 108 for 7.
With 109 to get, Panther’s had a good start vs the required rate. Vikram started with an expensive over with 12 off it with minimal risk. Pushpit took the attack to Murad and scored 6 runs of the first 3 balls but Murad came back as Sujay caught Pushpit at covers.
Atul played cautiously and set the template up – play their key bowler’s out, the time to hit will come. Panthers were cruising at 39 for 1 in 5overs. A few tight balls led Atul to snick one to the keeper. Abhishek joined Hemant who was quietly building an innings at the other end. Jayesh struck again in his 8th over first ball with Abhishek top edging while trying to flick for a quick single. 54 for 3.
What happened after can probably be described as a template that chases should look like.
Hemant and Shivam put together a 62 run stand with calculated risk taking and keeping the pressure at bay through punishing the bad balls, respecting the good ones and targeting the weaker bowlers. While he did give a chance or two that left Lions asking questions about their catching and Nilesh will rue dropping Hemant at 10 odd but besides that the innings by these two was clinical.
Hemant struck 66 with 8 fours and 2 sixes in 45 balls. Shivam got 20 off 18 balls with 2 fours. The calm duo brought Panthers home with an over to spare. Comfortably.
The 📢 Verdict is here.
NXL Raptors are favourites to win tomorrow’s encounter as per the poll.
However, it’s not gonna be a cakewalk for Raptors against spirited and confident Panthers.
Exciting tussle ahead. The match starts at 10am tomorrow .
📢Announcing Winter Cricket 2022-2023
We are thrilled to see the energy of this group all through the summers. It has been a wonderful experience sharing and living the passion for the game together and we are humbled by all the positive feedback.
So, despite the fact that ❄️winters are going to be in soon and the outdoors will become dull and gloomy, we want to continue fueling this passion further.
We have a few options in mind and would like to hear from you about which of the options would excite you.
🚦Option A: For those who want to take the game to the next level, we have the option of participating in the Lakeshore winter tournament. This tournament is held indoors in a heated dome facility and is played with an indoor hard cricket ball.
Advantages:
- A chance to play one of the oldest cricket leagues in Canada
- Well organized and games are scheduled after office hours
- We will get the flavour of playing competitive cricket
Learn more - https://lakeshorecricketleague.com/
🚦Option B: For those who want to continue playing the tennis ball format, we are looking for indoor facilities to run a winter version of the tournament. We are still in process of figuring out the logistics and expenditure involved but getting a sense of how many of you are up for it will enable us to assess the scale we can target.
If you are keen to do both, great! Let us know.
Here is what you need to do, in the comments type in A or B or type Both

Another thrilling game in the NXL Cricket Bash 2022
⚡Raptors set the bar
NXL Raptors got a score of 131 on the scoreboard. Vikram got his team to a good start for his team and picked two early wickets of Ameya and Nitin in the third over. The Raptors were back on track and contributed 37 crucial runs to the scoreboard between the 4th and sixth over.
Things went back in Lion's favor when the captain got Suyash to bowl in the seventh over. Suyash didn't disappoint and broke the back of the batting middle order by grabbing two wickets, including the crucial wicket of Rahul Kinge. He played beautiful innings of 42 for his team at a phenomenal strike rate of 210. Saurabh Jadhav kept the momentum going and also contributed 42 runs in 26 balls, keeping a strike rate of 118.75.
⚡ NXL Lions give a riveting fight
NXL Lions were off to a steady start in the first two overs with a run rate of 8 runs per over. Things didn't sustain for long as the Lions lost their set opening batsman Sujay who was bowled by Saurabh Jadhav.
Anurag and Sunil built the team's morale and played a magnificent partnership of 53 runs - the highest in the match. The duo struck hard, especially in the fourth and eighth over, making the opponent team sweat profusely in the harsh early morning heat.
The NXL Raptors captain brought back his team's lost spirits by grabbing Anurag's crucial wicket, who contributed 31 vital runs for his team. The Raptors built the pressure when Yohaan grabbed Sunil's wicket, who scored 40 runs. Suyash kept the match alive until the last over and stayed not out with a crucial score of 34 runs. In the end, Bradford took a brilliant catch of Swapnil on the last ball of the innings, and the Lions lost the match by 2 runs.
Saurabh Jadhav was the man of the match for his brilliant work with both bat and the ball.

Yet another last ball finish and this match was real roller coaster ride.
Excellent power hitting by both the side made it an exciting last over finish.
In the end it came to the outstanding running catch by Brad of Raptors to clinch a thriller.
It was intense, grilling, thrilling and mind you we also had crowd supporting Lions 🦁

Panthers 💨outrun the Raptors in a thrilling encounter.
Round 2 of the was lit up by as they won their game against the - which looked like a game of chess. The Panthers posted 108 runs on a wicket which was not tailor-made for the batters. Nitin Yadav had a dream start in the 1st over as he broke into the top order with two wickets.
Atul Suryavanshi (50) and Pushpit Samadhiya (48) then stitched together a partnership which defined the tone of the match. It looked like they were following a well-scripted 📖 tale.
In reply, Raptors got off to a steady start, Jadhav put together a 51-run partnership in 39 balls however the fortunes changed in the 10-13 overs as they lost 4 wickets in quick succession with some timely breakthroughs provided by Indrajeet Shelar.

: Nail biter match clinched by panther by keeping the nerves during slog overs. Outstanding partnership between Pushpit and Atul set the tone for Panthers.

💡Player Spotlight 💡Sunil Khiani
The player of the match🏆 in the 1st game as he laid a strong foundation for the NXL Lions. He scored 42 runs at a SR of 150.00 and this turned out to be match winning innings.
Apart from the 3 hits to the fence, he scored bulk of his runs in singles (14) and doubles (8)
Sunil's suggests he is strong in the midwicket and the cover region.
Did you find anything else interesting his innings? ⌨️Comment below 🔽
*Is power hitting overrated*?
Just two games are played 🏟️ and we have so many exciting 🏏
1. 60% of the runs were scored within the boundary lines.
2. Every eight-ball faced by the batsman reaches the fence
3. 41% of the balls faced were dot balls. If the batters were able to score even a single. The overall score would have been 10% higher - they'd be priceless in close finishes
Singles and doubles are basic but 🎯crucial in the shorter form of the game.
