Congratulations to LGen Jennie Carignan on making history as the first woman in Canada to lead the Canadian Armed Forces as the Chief of the Defence Staff. LGen Carignan's appointment marks a significant milestone and is a testament to her exceptional leadership and dedication.

For , we proudly reflect on last weekend when the "WiDS Water Warriors" participated in the Ottawa Dragon Boat Festival for the second consecutive year.
Our team of WiDS executive members, current and past emerging leaders, and dedicated supporters from our community set some goals for the weekend- improve from last year and qualify for day 2 of events. We are thrilled to announce that we surpassed our goals and won first place in our second 500m race on Saturday!
Despite the wet weather on Sunday, our team spirit remained high. We were grateful to spend the weekend with our friends and fellow competitors from The Pepper Pod, adding to the camaraderie and .
WiDS strives to offer an inclusive community committed to providing opportunities for engagement, support and inspiration to help strengthen Canada’s defence and security industry.

Throwback to last week when our WiDS community participated in the 8th Annual Global Forum on Women in Cybersecurity; with our president Julia Scouten contributing to an insightful panel. The event underscored the critical need for diversity to effectively tackle evolving threats and technologies. Emphasizing mentorship, the discussions highlighted strategies to overcome gender bias and foster inclusive environments. Attendees explored pathways for women to pursue leadership positions, stressing collaboration, networking, and the promotion of supportive workplace ecosystems.
