It has been a very busy Rotary Day! Firstly the students who are starting a Rotaract Club at the University of Regina set up a display table, and signed up many students who are eager to join! This afternoon was the All-Clubs BBQ,in Rotary Park. The ShelterBox Canada tent was put up...a big "Thank You!" to Karen Hoeft for supervising this endeavor, and to President-Elect Jayna Amadasun for taking the photographs, as I am still recovering from COVID!

This is a local program supported by the Rotary Club of Regina.

A group of Rotarians plan to see "Come From Away" when it comes to Regina next month.

September 8th is International Literacy Day. This year's focus is promoting multilingual education, emphasizing the potential of literacy to foster mutual understanding and peace.

There will be NO NOON Zoom meeting of the Rotary Club of Regina Eastview this Thursday. Instead, there will be a Social Evening at the home of Al and Karen Hoeft, 3917, Victoria Ave. Regina, on Friday, September 6, 2024, starting at 6:30 pm. Please BYOB and a lawn chair.

The Rotary Riders recently went on their 14th Annual Motor Cycle Ride, (and 4th Annual Floyd Manz Memorial Ride) to raise funds for the Ripple Effect Program, building and equipping schools in Guatemala.

Our meeting tomorrow, Thursday, August 29, 2024, at 12 noon, will be virtual on Zoom. The speaker will be Stephen Moorgen on "Modern Day Slavery and Human Trafficking." Please join us to learn more about this important subject, and about Rotary's response. Please message me if you need the Zoom link.

Members from the Rotary Club of Regina, the Rotary Club of Regina Eastview, and the Rotary Club of Regina Industrial Parks, with other volunteers and Salvation Army staff members, packed over 800 backpacks, to be given out before school starts,to those families which had requested them, at the Haven of Hope this morning.

The Rotary Club of Regina Eastview hosted the combined, hybrid meeting at the Delta Regina Hotel on Thursday, August 22, 2024, at 12 noon. President-Elect Jayna Amadasun chaired the meeting, and our speaker was Greg Stevenson, who updated us about the "Chili for Children" program, after which the Community Services sub-committee presented him with a donation.

This week we will have a combined In-person/hybrid meeting of the Rotary Club of Regina and the Rotary Club of Regina Eastview, (with Eastview hosting), at 12 noon, on Thursday, August 22, 2024, at the Delta Regina Hotel. President-Elect Jayna Amadasun will chair the meeting, and the speaker will be Greg Stevenson, talking about Chili for Children, the hot lunch program which was started by his mother, which we have supported for many years.

We sent students to RYLA and one to Adventures in Citizenship in Ottawa. They will tell us about their experiences at a Rotary meeting soon.

August 12th is International Youth Day.

PDG Peter Neufeldt and PDG Doug Mortin, who are both members of the Rotary Club of Regina Eastview, will be taking part in the Motorcycle Ride to raise funds for the Ripple Effect Program, building and equipping schools in Guatemala, on Saturday, August 17, 2024. Please consider sponsoring them with a financial donation.

Rotary Ripple Effect Ride Saturday August 17- This is the 13th year of the Ripple Effect Ride and the 3rd year of naming this The Floyd Manz Memorial Ride. We have seen the positive impact of the Ripple Effect Program happen over and over again: David and Marian Kettlewell are hosting the riders for breakfast. This week's meeting will be virtual, at 12 noon on Thursday, August 8, 2024, on Zoom. Ally Buck of ShelterBox Canada will update us about their recent activities, including working with other not-for-profit agencies in GAZA. .

Wednesday, July 31, 2024, was the day of the Rotary Club of Regina Industrial Parks Annual Pancake Breakfast. Many members of the Rotary Club of Regina and of the Rotary Club of Regina Eastview came out to help.

We sent a student to RYLA this year, and are looking forward to learning about their experiences later.

There will be NO NOON MEETING this Thursday, August 1, 2024. Many of our members will have been volunteering the previous day at the Rotary Club of Regina Industrial Parks Annual Pancake Breakfast, to be held on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, in the Parking Lot of Gaebel's Brewhouse. Why not come and join us for a delicious breakfast there?

So True! I will be posting the photograph album from our 2024 Golf Tournament later this weekend.

Our two mottos are “Service Above Self” and “One Profits Most Who Serves Best”. The secondary motto was originally “He Profits” got replaced with a more gender neutral “One Profits” to reflect the changing times in Rotary.

Our next joint meeting of the Rotary Club of Regina and the Rotary Club of Regina Eastview, (with Eastview hosting), will be hybrid, in-person at the Delta Regina Hotel at 12 noon on Thursday, July 25, 2024, with an option to join us on Zoom. Our speaker will be Dr. Jarol Boan, author of "The Medicine Chest: A Physician's Journey Towards Reconciliation."

Our meeting tomorrow, Thursday, July 18, 2024, at 12 noon, will be virtual on Zoom. The speaker will be Marie Powell, author of over 40 children's books, and of short stories and poetry published in literary magazines, and former writer-in-residence of the Saskatchewan Writers' Guild.

For us to do more we must grow. Invite a friend, think outside the box, be flexible, and have fun!

Tomorrow, Monday, July 8, 2024 there will be a combined hybrid meeting of the Rotary Club of Regina and the Rotary Club of Regina Eastview, (with the Regina Club hosting), in-person at 12 noon at the Delta Regina Hotel, and online on Zoom. The speaker will be James Bogusz, CEO of the Regina Airport Authority.

A very big "Thank You!" to the 75 golfers who came out to play in our Annual Golf Tournament on Friday, July 7, 2024, and to all the volunteers. The photographs will be posted once I have sorted through them.

There will be NO NOON ROTARY MEETING this week, as the Annual Golf Tournament takes place at Tor Hill Golf Course this Friday, July 6, 2024. It would be great if you could join us for cocktails at 4:00 pm and dinner at 4:30 pm.
