A degree in First Nations Studies prepares students for careers and advanced study in which collaboration with Indigenous communities plays an important role.

The First Nations and Indigenous Studies program is an interdisciplinary undergraduate major/minor program within the Institute of Critical Indigenous Studies offering courses to students in the Faculty of Arts at UBC. The Community Engaged Documentation and Research space (CEDaR) is hiring for 2 positions.

CEDaR is an experimental new media space where faculty, students, and staff who engage in Indigenous and community-driven research can collaborate and innovate relational technologies. Their mission is to evolve community research by creating tools and techniques that support local contexts, politics, and protocols.

The CEDaR leads the design and implementation of programs and services to support emerging media needs in community-driven research. The position supports faculty, students and staff who design and develop emerging media tools and techniques including but not limited to virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), video games, geographic information systems (GIS), and digital curation. They are seeking candidates with experience working collaboratively with communities to facilitate and guide them in the use of new media and digital technologies.
