🚨📣 We’re delighted to announce that Animal Welfare Party will stand four candidates in the July 4th General Election in London, Hampshire and Dorset.

AWP Leader, Vanessa Hudson will stand in the constituency of Bethnal Green and Stepney in London for the second time.

Professor Andrew Knight will also stand for a second time in the constituency of New Forest East in Hampshire.

Gavin Ridley will stand in the constituency of New Forest West in Hampshire for the first time.

Sasha Jolliffe will stand in the constituency of Christchurch in Dorset also for the first time.

“We look forward to contesting the 2024 General Election with a team of committed advocates for animals and planet”, said AWP Leader, Vanessa Hudson. “We’re all motivated by a shared desire to ensure animal and environmental issues are part of the political debate and to share our vision of a future that is fairer and healthier for people, animals and the environment.”

Happy Ten Year Anniversary to Meat Logic!

I'm super super proud of this book. It was the very first book to both collect and dissect all of the rationalizations people give against veganism and animal rights, as well as cover speciesism and human supremacy. And just as importantly, to do it in a non-academic way accessible to the mainstream.

It's a bittersweet moment for me right now because the knowledge of this book's existence has dropped off quite a bit over the years from when it first came out (as is the case with most books unfortunately). There are a couple of concepts in Meat Logic that I don't think are covered elsewhere, and I wish it had gotten a continued wider exposure. The main thing is the continued progress of the movement, though, so if others can get a wider exposure with their books and other projects, fantastic.

Veganism is about doing our best to make sure animals are cared for. It takes a lot of hard work and money to run sanctuaries, so if you're in a position to contribute, please do. Thank you.

If you have Netflix, we'd recommend 'You Are What You Eat, A Twin Experiment'. Although the reason to go vegan is for the animals, the show clearly explains why adopting a whole foods, plant based diet is so much healthier for both ourselves, and the planet. Bonus.

Here is Rose - the 9th rescued race horse of Christmas !

Rose is just 8 years old but has led a very traumatic life.

After a short and unsuccessful time spent in the racing industry Rose was sent to endure the task of being a broodmare.

After delivering 4 foals who were all deemed ''too small' Rose faced a very uncertain future. When she arrived at the Sanctuary 2 years ago she had literally just had her last foal taken from her before she was loaded on the lorry for the journey.

She was still generating milk when she arrived here in a very stressed and agitated state.

She has a very sweet and curious personality and loves the company of Belle, her best friend.

If anyone would like to help Rose stay safe at the Sanctuary, please do think about supporting her monthly to help with the feed costs
