"I play tag rugby for Great Britain. I've been playing since 2018. Last year we went to the world cup, and we have an international tournament this weekend."

Sophia also is a founder of Women in Tag Rugby.

"We started kind of the organisation to push for gender equality in tag. There are a lot of issues that haven't always been considered. For example, if you're getting your period and you need to change your tampon or your pad, and there's no changing rooms - that's an issue.

Unfortunately, there's a big discrepancy with girls in sport. At school, they really start tapering off from sports. With the organisation, we advocate for women's only teams to encouraging young women to continue to engage with sports."

Across the world, Indigenous Peoples face serious challenges, with their lands and resources threatened, their rights undermined, and their persistent vulnerability to marginalization and exclusion. Young Indigenous Peoples are helping to fight back.

Queen Mary is a unique trailblazer, as one of the few academic institutions championing the inclusion of Indigenous Peoples and their knowledge systems, bridging the gap between technological advances, scientific knowledge, and Indigenous Peoples’ ancestral knowledge.

Jordan Marajh, Postgraduate Research Student in the School of Mathematical Sciences, features in Universities UK's 100 Faces campaign, which celebrates the stories and achievements of students who were the first in their family to go to university.

Jordan is featured in the ‘technology and maths geniuses’, which highlights tech and maths courses that are equipping first-generation graduates with the skills to make a difference to the world.

Almost half of Queen Mary students are the first in their family to attend university, and we have multiple schemes in place to support students meeting a variety of different criteria, including being first in family.
