The final day of the was one to remember! 🎉
Big Manny1 UEL alum & TikTok science star, lit up Stratford's Town Hall with mind-blowing experiments, telling the crowd, "You’ve got to do the experiments to learn!" 🔥
On campus, visitors explored VR-powered resilience techniques with Evi Stamatiou, took a deep dive into consciousness with immersive sound journeys, and learned how UEL researchers are rethinking storm responses by working with Japanese schoolchildren. 🌊
Cheddar Gorgeous and Jake Elwes closed the day with an eye-opening talk on AI in art. 🤖🎨

We had an incredible day four at the British Science Festival Here’s a look at some of the standout moments:
🤖 I, Human with Alexander Thomas sparked deep discussions on transhumanism, exploring the ethical costs of using technology to tackle death, disease, and and aging.
🏠 Bringing Care to the Home showcased wearable tech and mobile sensors with Dr. Seyed Ali Ghorashi, offering solutions for elderly independence and care.
🌟 Sheeba Viswarajan and UEL trainee teachers shone a light on forgotten scientific figures in Unveiling the Unseen Faces of Science, uncovering powerful stories of unsung breakthroughs.
🍼 UEL’s BabyDevLab offered a fascinating insight into baby brain development, showing attendees the innovative wearable tech used to study how infants experience the world.

We are so proud! 🥳 UEL is the highest ranked, most improved mover in the UK in this year’s Guardian University Guide league table rankings, rising 40 places to 56th overall and 9th in London.
Professor Amanda Broderick, Vice Chancellor and President, said, This significant achievement in the 2025 Guardian University Guide’s league table is a direct result of the passion, courage and inclusive mindset of our entire University community.
“Much of our work goes on in the background but, as this remarkable showing demonstrates, the impact of our 10-year strategy, Vision 2028, is becoming increasingly visible and having a tangible, meaningful effect on our students’ lives and career opportunities, as well as our local and global communities.
“Together, we are reimagining what a university can be and should do, transforming our approach to meet the evolving needs of a dynamic society and working towards a healthier, fairer and more sustainable world. Our success is a testament to the power of collaboration. This is a record-breaking result that should make all of us immensely proud.”
More highlights:
• UEL is joint 21st nationally and 3rd in London for Satisfied with Teaching, an increase of 70 places.
• UEL remains in the top quartile in the Guardian’s Value Added metric (27th nationally), which measures the improvement made by a university from a student’s entry qualifications to their outcomes.
• UEL was first among London modern universities for Continuation, which measures progression of first-year students. Nationally, we were just edged out of the top 50, ranking 53rd among all universities.
