Latest polling shows, with the swing to Labour, (like 1997 when we were so close), only voting LibDem will let the Tories win here!

NATALIE ROWLEY SELECTED
North Shropshire Constituency Labour Party are delighted to announce Natalie Rowley has been selected as prospective parliamentary candidate for the upcoming general election on 4th July 2024.
On her selection Natalie said “I’m incredibly proud to be selected to represent The Labour Party in North Shropshire, and excited to beout campaigning during this general election. There is real momentum behind Labour and a widespread feeling that a change of government is needed.
I grew up on a council estate, experiencing many of the struggles that people still face today. I know how bad policies and legislation can impact our lives. This tough start in life has given me the skills and the drive to fight for our communities here, and to be an experienced voice at the heart of policy making”
Natalie is a health care worker, and volunteers to help coach football to girls locally.
“In my spare time I’m passionate about getting girls and children active in the county. Through my love of football I want to pass this on to the next generation of girls, to give them opportunities to take part in sport to stay fit and healthy.”
As a Parish Councillor in St Martins, she has worked hard in her local community to improve broadband speeds, highlight the road safety issues for children travelling to school and support of the youth centre.
She adds “I know from speaking to residents in Oswestry, Whitchurch and Market Drayton that nothing works as it should anymore from childcare, dental care and hospital waiting lists to buses and rail travel. Since the 2010 Conservative/Lib Dem coalition we’ve had 14 years of decline, where families are really struggling with the cost of living crisis. They want a change of government, with The Labour Party the only party who can deliver a plan to sort out the mess that the country is in.”
Natalie is looking forward to speaking to residents in the coming weeks

Shropshire soldier handcuffed to medicine ball for mental health Johnny Bradley says the weight has sparked some amazing conversations with people about mental health.
Happy to share this to support this good cause:
Soldier Johnny Bradley Takes on the Medicine Ball Challenge to Raise Awareness for Mental Health
Johnny Bradley, a soldier serving in 1 Royal Irish based in Tern Hill but living in Telford, is stepping up to the plate to take on the Medicine Ball Challenge. Created in 2018 by soldier Andy Unwin MBE, the challenge aims to shed light on mental health issues and encourage open conversations about this critical topic. The 3kg ball symbolises the weight that individuals struggling with their mental health carry, and through this initiative, Johnny hopes to inspire others to seek help and support when needed.
The Medicine Ball Challenge holds special significance for Johnny, who has experienced his own issues with mental health and has witnessed the devastating impact it can have on his fellow soldiers and loved ones. As a soldier himself, he understands the immense pressure and emotional burden that can often go unnoticed. By taking on this challenge, Johnny aims to spark conversations that create an open environment for individuals to discuss their mental health concerns openly.
The challenge involves carrying a 3kg medicine ball continuously for 7 days and serves as a physical representation of the weight that people with mental health struggles carry daily.
Johnny says, "I am committed to raising awareness for and highlighting the importance of mental wellbeing. I hope by doing this challenge, I can not only encourage others to seek support if needed but also spark conversations, break the stigma, and create an open environment for individuals to discuss its effects openly."

Festival Drayton Centre Film Show - The Old Oak, 7.30pm, Saturday 18th November
Festival Drayton Centre, Market Drayton's Community Theatre, has asked us to circulate details of the above film, The Old Oak, to the Labour Party in this area. We cannot use Members' emails for non-Party events, but Members and Supporters should find this of interest.
The film, a humanitarian one, is probably going to be the last one directed by Ken Loach, who has been supporting the Labour Party and trade union movement for over 50 years and it has been well received by the critics. Further information can be obtained from the Centre's website:

Our MP's Party seem to be flooding the area with paper - where is the funding coming from? - telling us about what she supports, including buses for the Drayton area, Strange then that none of them could be bothered to turn up to the Going Greener Festival last month where Labour Party members gave details of Shropshire Labour Group's bus policies.
Go Greener Festival, Festival Drayton, 13th July 2022. The local Labour Party was there - no sign of the Tories (of course!), our MP's Party, or even the Greens!
Yet another rise in rail fares under the Conservatives and we don't even have disabled access at Whitchurch train station 🤦♂️.
