Emergency services were called to reports of a fire at the site at 00.44am this morning (30 Oct).
Fire crews arrived at the scene to be faced with large quantities of smoke issuing from a large building.
Cumbria police have confirmed that there is no nuclear risk from the fire.

INCIDENTS: At 00:23hrs this morning the rescue pump from Market Drayton was mobilised to reports of a bin on fire on Longslow Road, near the primary school.
On arrival the crew investigated on foot and found a small fire in a commercial wheelie bin which they extinguished using one hose reel jet.
Whilst returning from this incident they were alerted via the vehicle mounted mobile data terminal (MDT) to a second incident at another address on Longslow Road.
The second incident involved two domestic wheelie bins, destroyed by fire which also affected a wooden garden shed at the property. Crews extinguished it using one hose reel jet and drag rakes.
As we were damping down at this incident Fire Control contacted us by radio to mobilise us to a further incident on Portland Drive.
The Incident Commander was met by the householder who informed them that they had moved their car away from their two wheelie bins which were destroyed by fire. The fire also damaged a wooden fence panel, two domestic garages externally and two vehicles.
Whilst the crew were dealing with this incident we were made aware of another fire involving wheelie bins and a vehicle on Elm Drive, which was dealt with by our colleagues from Hodnet.
All of these fires are believed to be linked and started deliberately. Colleagues from West Mercia Police attended. If you have any information, doorbell or security camera footage that may help with their investigations please call 101 to report it.
WEATHER / TRAVEL ALERT: Fire crews across the County are attending multiple calls to flooding due to the continuing heavy rain.
Please only travel if you have to at this time.
We advise you to leave extra time for your journeys, reduce your speed, use dipped headlights and leave extra room between vehicles.
Expect to find flooded roads and road closures.
Please do not try and drive through floods, you cannot judge the depth or speed of the water or see any submerged hazards.
If you should become trapped in flood water, and lives are at risk ring 999 and ask for the fire and rescue service.
Please monitor national and local weather forecasts and travel information.
DRILL: Tonight the crew have carried out training in breathing apparatus procedures at a simulated fire in a commercial garage.
Crews worked hard to search the premises which was filled with cosmetic smoke.
They used search procedures and a thermal image camera to locate 3 casualties and evacuate them to fresh air.
We would like to say a big thank you to Ian, owner of Talbot Garage for allowing us to use his building and to Tom, who works there, for being our live casualty.
Realistic training like this is vital for crews to be ready for real property fires when they occur.
EXERCISE: Talbot Garage have kindly allowed us to use their premises for a breathing apparatus exercise.
If you see the fire engine or blue lights, don’t be alarmed, it’s just for training!
CONGRATULATIONS: Last night some of the crew from Market Drayton Fire Station attended Shropshire Fire and Rescue Services’ annual Celebration of Success, at Theatre Severn in Shrewsbury.
Our newest Firefighter Shane Davies received recognition of the completion of his recruits course. He has been ‘on the run’ with us for some time and he will now complete a 3 year Firefighter Development Programme.
We also collected our trophy for winning the Best Lawned category of the annual Stations in Bloom Competition. 🚒😃
DRILL: Our weekly training session saw the crews carrying out combined drills utilising hose reels, main jet and ladders.
All skills required by firefighters to enable them to deal with property fires.

FIREFIGHTERS DOWN: We are deeply saddened to learn of the deaths of at least ten Lebanese firefighters, following an attack on their station in Southern Lebanon.
The firefighters were inside their station in the town of Baraachit overnight when it is believed to have come under attack from an air strike.
The building has suffered significant damage with parts having collapsed.
It has been confirmed that tragically ten firefighters have died, with others believed to be possibly still trapped in the rubble.
Rescue efforts are ongoing to try and locate any trapped victims, sadly it is expected that the death toll may rise.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the families, friends and colleagues of the dead firefighters.
We send our best wishes to those injured, and to all those members of the emergency services who continue to respond to emergencies during the ongoing conflict in the area.

FIREFIGHTERS DOWN: It is with deep sadness that we learn of the in the line of duty deaths of three Portuguese firefighters, who have died whilst tackling one of the many wildfires currently burning across Portugal.
Over fifty wildfires are currently raging across areas of the Country including Aveiro, Albergaria-a-Velha, Valmaior, Macinhata, Sever do Vouga, Açores, Ílhavo, São Francisco.
Over five thousand firefighters are attempting to bring the fires under control.
Assistance is being provided from France, Greece, Italy and Spain which includes additional firefighters and water-bombing aircraft.
The three dead firefighters two women and one man from the Vila Nova de Oliveirinha fire brigade died while fighting a fire in Nelas, a town about 300 km (190 miles) northeast of Lisbon.
In Aveiro alone, the blazes have consumed more than 10,000 hectares (24,710 acres) of forest and scrubland in the last two days.
Our thoughts and prayers go to the families, friends and colleagues of the dead.
We send our best wishes to all those firefighters engaged in firefighting and to the people of Portugal who have been affected by the fires.

INCIDENT: At 19:54hrs this evening the rescue pumps from Hodnet and Market Drayton, and an officer from headquarters, were mobilised to reports of a large vehicle fire at Ollerton.
Crews arrived to find a significant fire in progress, involving a gritter lorry.
Hodnet crews quickly set to work with hose reels, main jets and breathing apparatus while Market Drayton crews assisted with hose management and supplying water from the major pump.
The fire, which was believed to have started due to an electrical fault, caused extensive damage to the vehicle but we are pleased to report there were no injuries to any persons.
Hodnet crew remained to damp down whilst Market Drayton crew left to replenish their water supply and be available for further fire calls.
REMEMBERING: Twenty Three years ago today, September 11th 2001, two planes American Airlines Flight 11 and United Airlines Flight 175, were hijacked by terrorists and crashed into the North and South towers, respectively, of the World Trade Center complex in New York City in an organised and targeted terrorist attack.
Within 1 hour and 42 minutes, both 110-storey towers collapsed, with debris and the resulting fires causing partial or complete collapse of all the other buildings in the World Trade Center complex, including the 47-storey 7 World Trade Center tower, as well as significant damage to ten other large surrounding structures.
At 8:46 a.m., American Airlines Flight 11 was crashed into the World Trade Center's North Tower (1 WTC), and at 9:03 a.m., United Airlines Flight 175 was crashed into the South Tower (2 WTC).
A total of three buildings in the World Trade Center collapsed due to the ensuing fire which induced structural failure. The South Tower collapsed at 9:59 a.m. after burning for 56 minutes in a fire caused by the impact of United Airlines Flight 175 and the explosion of its fuel.
The North Tower collapsed at 10:28 a.m. after burning for 102 minutes. When the North Tower collapsed, debris fell on the nearby 7 World Trade Center building (7 WTC), damaging it and starting fires. These fires burned for hours, compromising the building's structural integrity, and 7 WTC collapsed at 5:21 p.m.
In the initial attacks on the two towers and the subsequent collapses a total of 2,606 people were killed. Nearly all of those who perished were civilians with the exceptions of 343 firefighters, 72 law enforcement officers, 55 military personnel, and the 19 terrorists who died in the attacks.
The New York City Fire Department (NYFD) deployed 200 units (half of the entire department) to the World Trade Center. Their efforts were supplemented by numerous off-duty firefighters and emergency medical technicians. The New York City Police Department (NYPD) sent Emergency Service Units and other police personnel, and deployed its aviation unit.
A total of 411 emergency workers died as they tried to rescue people and fight fires. The New York City Fire Department (FDNY) lost 343 firefighters, including the departments chaplain and two paramedics.
The New York City Police Department (NYPD) lost 23 officers. The Port Authority Police Department (PAPD) lost 37 officers. Eight emergency medical technicians (EMTs) and paramedics from private emergency medical services units were also killed.
Those that died on that day will never be forgotten, we especially remember our 343 fellow firefighters who lost their lives in the line of duty. Those firefighters who entered the two towers that day, did so knowing the horrors they would see, and almost impossible task that they would face on the floors above them.
Even knowing this they still entered without question, and the reason why they did so, it's simple, they knew people were trapped and required rescue, and that's what firefighters do.
Today we remember all those who lost their in the attacks, specifically all the FDNY firefighters, and the other members of the emergency services who gave their lives in the line of duty without question, and all those who succumbed to injuries or diseases in later years from attending the tragedy.
DRILL: Last night the crew attended an exercise at Harlescott Grange School in Shrewsbury.
The scenario was a fire in a large disused school building with up to 20 children seen entering the building and unaccounted for.
The rescue pump from Market Drayton was the first pump in attendance, and after assessing the situation and speaking to the responsible person, the incident commander formulated a plan to commit breathing apparatus crews into the building for search and rescue, and firefighting.
Pumps from Wellington and Hodnet arrived soon afterwards and assisted by taking over the breathing apparatus sector and command support, which freed the incident commander up to liaise with the Level 2 officer on arrival.
Crews worked hard to rescue several casualties, extinguish the fire and clear the building of smoke using a positive pressure ventilation fan.
Exercises like these are vital for the crews to practice in simulated conditions, to ensure they are prepared for real fire situations.
POLICE WITNESS APPEAL: Our colleagues from West Mercia Police are appealing for witnesses following a tragic fatal road traffic collision that occurred on the A53 at Market Drayton, just after midnight on the 7th of September.
We can confirm that fire crews from Market Drayton, Hodnet and Wellington attended the incident.
We send our deepest condolences to the families and friends of the deceased.
We wish the passenger a full and speedy recovery from their injuries.

Firefighters arrived at the scene to find a fully developed fire in progress.
Multiple firefighters wearing breathing apparatus were committed into the building to search for anyone who may of been trapped, and to extinguish the fire.
Whilst these operations were being carried out there was a large explosion, which resulted in a partial collapse of part of the building.
Eleven firefighters were injured in the explosion with some a ustaining second and third degree burns. They were all transported to hospitals for immediate medical attention.
Following a roll call it was established that two firefighters were unaccounted for.
An immediate search and rescue operation was launched by the missing firefighters colleges.
Tragically despite the best efforts of the rescue teams, the bodies of the two missing firefighters were located within the basement area of the building.
They have been named as, Patryk Michalski, 33 years old and Łukasz Włodarczyk, 34 years old.
At the height of the incident 100 firefighters and 30 fire appliances were in attendance.

BREAKING NEWS: A major incident has been declared by London Fire Brigade, as over two hundred firefighters and forty fire appliances are attending a severe fire at a six storey mixed-used residential and commercial building on Freshwater Road in Dagenham.
London Fire Brigade received the first of multiple 999 calls at 02:44 hours on Monday.
The first crews to arrive at the scene found a fully developed and rapidly spreading fire, involving scaffolding surrounding the building, as well parts of the ground to sixth floors and the roof.
An immediate assistance message was transmitted requesting additional appliances and personnel. This was followed by further assistance messages as the incident escalated.
Firefighters have been working hard to extinguish the fire and prevent it spreading, using aerial monitors from thirty two meter turntable ladders as well as firefighters in breathing apparatus with hand held jets.
Two people have been injured and transported to hospital for treatment.
London fire brigade is being supported by neighbouring fire and rescue services, along with the London Ambulance Service and the Metropolitan Police.

STATIONS IN BLOOM: You may have noticed our garden display has looked slightly different this year. This is because the category for our Stations in Bloom competition this year was 'Food for Thought'.
The idea was to create an edible display and donate any produce to our local food bank.
We utilised our hanging buckets, boots and fire extinguishers to grow strawberries and tumbling tomatoes, coupled with nasturtiums and pansies.
With the addition of two new raised beds we were able to grow French climbing beans, potatoes, leeks, carrots, beetroot, parsnips and standard tomatoes. Then in the front border we have dwarf sunflowers.
All participating Shropshire fire stations were visited and judged on 15th July, by Shrewsbury Flower Show committee members, Maelor Owen and Donna Hamer, with two categories, Grassed Station and Paved Station.
We are very pleased to announce that we have won the Grassed Station category again this year and we look forward to sharing our produce with Market Drayton Food Bank once we harvest.
