Our brilliant Care Professional, Dawn and her husband had a great day at The Marvelous Festival in Dinton Pastures yesterday. Dawn was the lucky winner of two tickets for the festival after a competition we ran last week. She had a fun day out listening to all the bands in, thankfully, dry and warm weather! And we are loving Dawns bucket hat - she was really getting into the festival vibe!
Lets change this narrative!
Feeling sidelined by society? 🤔
Our latest research, The shows that being older in the UK can feel like being ‘cancelled’, with over a third of respondents (35%) believing this...
Older individuals feel neglected by fashion and high street brands. Serving a valuable lesson for brands, marketers and retailers - let’s change this narrative! 👗
Congratulations to our lovely Care Professional, Dawn for winning our Marvelous Festival/Google competition. We popped over to see Dawn yesterday to drop off the tickets and not only did we have a lovely chat with Dawn in her beautiful garden, but also met these two little pups who think they are little human babies! Thank you Dawn for your great review and have a fantastic time at the festival this coming Sunday - think its going to be lovely weather for you! 😎🌞🍹🎸
Watch below to find out who is the lucky winner of the Marvellous Festival Tickets for this coming Sunday. Thank you to RG10 Magazine for donating the tickets to us and thank you to everyone who took part and gave us a Google review. Now the winner is...... https://www.marvellousfestivals.com/tickets/

Heres the morning group of our Care Professionals taking part on the Home Instead dementia bus - the first photo shows how they enter the bus - with spiky insoles in their shoes, gloves, glasses and headphones. And the other snap is them all after their debrief, sharing feedback and experiences. We have a fantastic team - this is just a few of them - and by taking the time today to learn more about what it feels like to live with dementia, means we can support and understand our clients even better. 💜
Today we have invited many of our care team to have some training with Training2CAREs dementia bus to further develop their knowledge and understanding for those living with dementia. This will ultimately make them even more capable when supporting those living with dementia and further our aim in providing the very best care and support for our clients.
The experience is a scientifically and medically proven way of replicating dementia. Taking part involves wearing goggles, headphones and spiky insoles. They are then asked to perform various tasks, but with a twist. Distorted vision, loud noises and sensory overload all recreate what it can be like to have dementia. Suddenly, those everyday tasks we take for granted aren’t so simple.
Stay tunes to our social posts to see more about today.
All our Care Professional team receive training to ensure they are confident in providing the high quality care associated with Home Instead. Here's our wonderful Care Pro Adri, who has just achieved her care certificate. Well done, Adri! 💜🎉💜
If you would like to find out more about joining our friendly team, call us on 01635 017000 and speak with Gillian.

Whilst it's common to experience some memory lapses as we age, dementia involves more significant changes that impact daily life. The chart below is a great starting point for understanding these differences. It’s important to remember that other conditions can also cause similar symptoms, and only a health professional can diagnose dementia.
To learn more about the main symptoms of the most common types of dementia, such as Alzheimer’s disease and vascular dementia visit https://www.alzheimers.org.uk/about-dementia/worried-about-memory-problems/is-it-getting-older-or-dementia. Let's stay informed and supportive.

As Dementia Action Week begins, let's shine a light on the nearly 900,000 individuals in the UK living with dementia—a number expected to rise significantly. Dementia primarily affects those over 65, but it can also impact younger individuals. At Home Instead, we're dedicated to “Changing the face of ageing”. Our Care Professionals are offered City & Guilds Dementia training so they can look after our clients with expert knowledge.
Discover more about our specialist support for local clients living with dementia here: https://www.homeinstead.co.uk/care/specialist/dementia/
As Mental Health Awareness Week approaches, let's remember that loneliness can affect anyone, at any age. Let’s make it a priority to reach out to our ageing loved ones and ensure they feel seen and heard.
