Great news! The Bank of England has today announced a reduction to interest rates, the first cut to rates since March 2020.

This is likely because of the drop in inflation over the last few months.

Congratulations to two of our advisers Kieron Hogg at The Financial Guys and Keith Webber at The Will Guys for completing the Ultra North last weekend.

They ran just over 50k in our beautiful British weather ☔️ across all terrains. An amazing achievement ❤️

On Saturday 6th July, our protection adviser, Richard Mulholland will take on the Coniston Challenge to raise money for Alder Hey Children's Hospital. Here's Richard's story:

My daughter, Nuala was only 10 months old when she was diagnosed with a very rare cancer called an alveola soft part sarcoma, with only 6 people diagnosed in England per year, options to save her life were limited. However, Alder Hey Children’s Hospital in Liverpool did everything in their power to save her life.

Nuala sadly lost her left eye as a consequence but undeterred, she has gone from strength to strength, beating cancer, ringing the end of treatment bell and enjoying life to the full.

Richard and Megan along with family and friends are now raising as much money as possible to give back as a ‘thank you’ to Alder Hey for saving Nuala’s life and all the incredible work they do for children all over the country and world wide.

People feel their personal finances are improving, according to new research released by the Financial Conduct Authority.

The regulator found the number of people struggling to pay bills fell by around 25% in January 2024 compared to January 2023.

7.4m people were struggling to pay bills and credit repayments in January 2024, down from 10.9m in January 2023. This is still higher than the 5.8m recorded in February 2020, before the cost of living squeeze began.

Tomorrow will see the reduction in National Insurance contributions kick in for workers across the UK.

The reduction will be from 10% to 8% and is the second cut of it's kind this year, expected to leave a little more money in the pocket of 27 million employees.

It is worth about £450 a year to an employee on an average salary of £35,000.

Interesting news for homeowners in Wales who are struggling to pay their mortgage.

The Welsh Government has announced a Help To Stay scheme which offers 15 year loans for up to 49% of a homes value and are interest free for the first 5 years. The value of the home needs to be no more than £300,000.

The scheme is aimed at those struggling with repayments due to rises in interest rates and is designed to stop repossessions - not everyone will qualify and applicants need to meet with a debt adviser beforehand to ensure it's the correct option for their needs.
