Every morning, come rain or shine, all year round I step onto the grass in bare feet as it just FEELS so good. I don't fully understand the science behind it, but 'grounding' is the process of connecting to the Earth's electrical energy, transferring electrons into your body, which could lower inflammation, neutralising positive free radicals, just like antioxidants do. I have a lot more research to do, but sometimes we intuitively know what feels right - and for me, earthing during first light (another post for that one!) is an important part of my self care.

Extensive research has shown that connecting to the Earth’s natural energy, by walking barefoot on grass, sand, dirt or rock can diminish chronic pain, fatigue and other ailments that plague so many people today. This connection is referred to as Earthing or Grounding.

Earthing is the practice of having skin contact with the bare earth. Free electrons from the Earth neutralize oxidative stress in the body reducing stress, inflammation, and pain and promoting sleep and muscle recovery.

Are you someone who stops to gaze at the beautiful moon, or feels a tingle when admiring a stunning sunset? What about that amazing cloud formation, or when we're really lucky, the Northern Lights?

Experiencing awe promotes good health and a sense of wellbeing so keep looking up!

Mind you, I also go into raptures over interesting pebbles and leaves, so looking up, down and around when out in nature always makes me feel better!

Take Time to Connect With the Cosmos
Scientific researchers have discovered that engendering states of awe promotes good health and a sense of wellbeing. Whether you live in the city or the country the sky is always there for you, and it provides the perfect way to connect with the cosmos. Whether it’s day or night, being mindful of the sky is a great thing to do.

Looking up at the sky at any time creates a sense of spaciousness and freedom, which is an antidote to that winter sense of shrinking back into ourselves. It helps us to get things into perspective and our problems shrink back down to size. Gazing mindfully at the sky allows us to connect with a universe that is constantly changing. In the day you’ll see clouds passing by, and at night you’ll be treated to a changing star-scape. It also engenders a sense of union and oneness with the world around you, and that’s what yoga is all about.

It's not easy going out in the evenings after dark - but should you decide to come out to yoga, you'll be able to leave behind the stresses of the day and devote a whole 90 minutes to your wellbeing. Plenty of time for the physical practice, plus unhurried breath work, meditation and of course a delicious relaxation. All of this will help you to get a great night's sleep!

Gentle Yoga Hour is now a LIVE Zoom class on the first Wednesday of the month at 09.30. Plus, you get to keep the recording until the day before the next one!

There's no getting up and down from the floor as we sit on a chair for the first half, then can use it for standing postures, too.

We'll be stretching, keeping joints mobile, building strength and improving balance!

So book your class here, but if you don't make the live session, it doesn't matter, as you'll be able to do it as often as you like until text one comes around.

We’ve had a few outdoor yoga classes this summer ( including that dip in the sea at Sea Palling!)
In the open air, we can really tune into our surroundings with all of our senses - it’s been truly delightful 💚
