This seems to be a theme in the office at the moment, the possibility of creating distraction-free time away from the negative spoon-feeding, and an opportunity to side-step the bull@ #£%... what may change if we gift ourselves this opportunity..? 🙏
The world is increasingly designed to depress us. Happiness isn't very good for the economy. If we were happy with what we had, why would we need more?
How do you sell an anti-ageing moisturiser? You make someone worry about ageing. How do you get people to vote for a political party? You make them worry about immigration. How do you get them to buy insurance? By making them worry about everything. How do you get them to have plastic surgery? By highlighting their physical flaws. How do you get them to watch a TV show? By making them worry about missing out. How do you get them to buy a new smartphone? By making them feel like they are being left behind.
To be calm becomes a kind of revolutionary act. To be happy with your own non upgraded existence. To be comfortable with our messy, human selves, would not be good for business. ~Matt Haig

Robert Frost, one of my favourite authors. He understood the nature of loss and grief, the seismic enormity of it. When life feels increasingly overwhelming I'm reminded of his philosophy that for all we may not get over it, maybe we can get through it...

A little information on the Clinical Supervision I offer qualified/trainee counsellors and psychotherapists.
Clinical Supervision | Elizabeth Sendall MBACP Clinical Supervision “If the only tool you have is a hammer, you tend to see every problem as a nail” – Abraham Maslow Good supervision is the touchstone of the work we do as counsellors and psychotherapists. If you have some free time before the end of the Bank Holiday take a minute to listen to this series. The word "Wintering" is used by the author Katherine May to describe the need to withdraw, to reflect and take stock or to give ourselves space and time to quietly heal. As the year turns again and we find ourselves moving into the "bleak midwinter" I think her words will resonate with many, and as she wisely acknowledges, "some winters happen in the sun" which feels especially relevant in our Covid-conscious world.
Wintering by Katherine May - Episode 1 - BBC Sounds A thought-provoking, generous celebration of life’s dark seasons and fallow times
Beautiful quote for Christmas...
So light a candle to the dead.
And light a candle to miracles, however unlikely, and pray that you recognise yours.
And light a candle to the living, the world of friendship and family that means so much.
And light a candle to the future, that it may happen and not be swallowed up by darkness.
And light a candle to love.
Lucky Love.
- Jeanette Winterson

For anyone who has experienced loss, anticipated or unexpected, this is so relatable 💜
In grief, death robs us of the people we love. Sometimes when we’ve lost the ultimate control, we can find ourselves overcompensating and becoming controlling without realizing it. Thoughts?

About Me
Welcome to my page. I understand that there are times when we can all feel very "stuck". However, I hold a belief that talking therapies are a very useful tool for encouraging self-development on many different issues.
Counselling provides the time to talk about problems, concerns, thoughts and feelings. Being able to speak freely and honestly without fear of being judged is an important part of the therapeutic healing process.
I have worked as a counsellor and psychotherapist in various clinical settings including the NHS, Women's Aid, and Cruse. I currently operate a small but busy private practice and take self-referrals as well as referrals from GP’s, health professionals, EAP providers, charity organisations and occupational health. I also offer clinical supervision to other therapists and student counsellors. I am a registered member of the BACP and offer both short term and long term therapy.
I have a keen interest in unresolved loss and bereavement in childhood and how this can impact on people emotionally in adulthood. I counsel clients on a wide range of relationship issues and have valuable experience in areas ranging from the trauma of domestic abuse, relationship problems and depression.
Making an appointment is easy. Either telephone or text on the number above or alternatively send me an email and we can arrange a mutually suitable day and appointment time for a clinical assessment. I cannot always answer my phone immediately, if that is the case, then please leave a message with your name and contact details and I will return your call.
During the assessment a personal history is taken and goals or objectives can be discussed. It gives my clients the opportunity to ask any questions they may have regarding the counselling process and determine how they feel about beginning therapy.
