đ Capt Anna Webb is appointed as the new Specialist Nurse Advisor for Paediatrics in the Army! đ
This is a phenomenal achievement that Anna has worked extremely hard for, and we are so proud of her in 306 Hospital Support Regiment.
The handover process from Capt Louise Jones will now begin, who has been a source of innovation, inspiration and leadership during her appointment in the role.
Capt Anna said âthis is very exciting time for the paediatric cadre and I canât wait to be in post, working alongside the Defence Specialist Advisor and Defence Consultant Advisor, supporting individuals in driving paediatric care forward across Defence.â

Recently Lt Setchell and Cpl Harrison attended the Tri-Service Critical Care Conference at the Defence Academy of the UK, Shrivenham. Topics across the two days included: prognosis and rehabilitation after brain injury, updates from the Critical Care Air Support Team (RAF), and traumatic brain injury research to name a few.
Our two personnel presented about the prevention, management, and future of severe traumatic brain injuries in children - which was very well received. Accompanied by the Specialist Nurse Advisor (Army) for Paediatrics - Capt Jones - the audience was intrigued to hear about the expert capability in the Paediatric Team within 306 HSR and the excellent work that is being done across Defence to improve the care of children.

Recently Maj Beckwith, Capt Wilson and Lt Setchell completed the Competent Crew Course, accredited by the Royal Yachting Association, at the Joint Services Adventurous Sail Training Centre (JSASTC) in Portsmouth, the Solent, and the Isle of Wight.
Taught over 5 days, living on board a Vic 34 Sail Training Craft, they qualified as useful members of a Yacht Crew. Instruction consists of lectures and practical work, with constant assessment througout the week. This course is the foundation for sailing development within the military, leading to other qualifications such as Day and Coastal Skipper.
Adventurous Training is designed to take personnel out of their comfort zone and aims to develop leadership, resilience, coping strategies, decision making, teamwork, physical fitness and courage.

Recently, personnel from 306 attended a Battlefield Study in Belgium and France. The sites of many historic battles were visited: Waterloo, Agincourt, Crecy, and Dunkirk to name a few. The topics of mass casualties, the complexities of triage and treatment, and the different types of injuries sustained in the war were discussed at several museums and cemeteries.
For the duration of the trip, personnel were staying in Ypres. At 20:00 every night, the road under the Menin Gate is closed. Standing there, Sgt Jane Causier, Registered Mental Health Nurse, recalls hearing the Last Post.
She said: âfor me, this was one of the most poignant parts of the trip as we were surrounded by thousands of names, carved in to the walls, of those who lost their lives. The acoustic effect of the bugles was haunting.â
Learning about how over 300 soldiers were âshot at dawnâ due to perceived cowardice or failing to follow orders, Sgt Causier is able to articulate how advancements in psychiatric assessment and treatment is crucial for serving personnel today.
All who attended the study describe it as excellent and we look forward to further opportunities like this in the future.

A busy weekend for 306!
The completion of Driving Training has ensured that 30% of our Regiment now has 4 military vehicle competencies, which includes the fleet minibuses that are used to transport personnel on exercises.
In addition, we began to test and prepare personnel for the Armyâs new âRole Fitness Test.â The standards are objective and role-specific, and not differentiated by age or gender. They ensure that Army personnel have the physical ability for their role so they can safely and satisfactorily complete essential tasks.
Read about the standards here: https://www.army.mod.uk/physical-employment-standards/
Currently 4 members of 306 have passed the test under the new standards, and many more will be tested later this year following more build up training. This is an excellent achievement for the Regiment, as personnel have been working to improve their personal fitness standards under the âLone Soldierâ exercise programme over the winter.
Regimental Quartermaster, WO2 Cullen, has reported the highly positive overall feedback from the weekend and all members of the regiment had a great time!
