For anyone involved in coaching children, the book below is a must. I have had the pleasure of knowing Paul for the last number of years and have witnessed first hand his brilliant coaching ability. Would be a great gift for Christmas!

Coaching Children in Sport I see coaching and teaching as one and the same, and gleam much of my knowledge, insights and beliefs from both. What I learn in coaching I use in the classroom, and what I learn in the classroom I use in my coaching. In reality, coaching and teaching are one.

Galway Sports Medicine centre are delighted to add strength and conditioning coach Brendan Egan to our team.

Brendan graduated with a BSc Hons degree in Sports Strength and Conditioning from LIT in 2016 and is
currently completing the EXOS Performance Specialist Course and studying for the CSCS accreditation.

He has special Interest in Power, Plyometrics and Speed Development (Sprint, Change of Direction and Running Mechanics) and has worked as a Strength and Conditioning Coach with:

Galway U21 Hurling (Lead S&C): 2017-present

Galway Senior Hurling (Assistant): 2016

Tynagh Abbey Duniry GAA: 2018-present

Craughwell GAA: 2015-present

Brendan has worked with a number of elite athletes such as Kieran Molloy (Boxer - Irish Elite Mens Boxing) and is now looking to work with people on a one to one basis in the areas of

- Strength & conditioning
- Fitness
- Sports performance

We are delighted to welcome Ryan Worden to the Galway Sports Medicine team. Ryan graduated with an honours degree in BSc. Athletic Therapy and Training from DCU in 2015. He completed his undergraduate research on “The effect of anticipation on the kinetics and kinematics of the trunk and lower-limb during a side-cutting manoeuvre” and has presented this research at the Faculty of Sports and Exercise Medicine conference.

Since graduating from DCU, Ryan has divided his time between working in the private sector and as a Certified Athletic Rehabilitation Therapist, with various sporting teams. Ryan’s experience is in the care of acute and chronic musculoskeletal injury.

Within musculoskeletal care, Ryan has special interest in the management of acute/chronic tendinopathy, athletic groin pain and overload injury in adolescent athletes. He also has a keen interest in post-operative rehabilitation and running mechanics.
