The occasion was graced by the presence of Chief Guest Dr Piyush Gupta, Principal, University College Of Medical Sciences ,New Delhi ; Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Dr O.P. Kalra ; Executive Director Dr Reena Nayyar ; Professor-Emeritus, Director - NRSC Training, Chairman - E-Lectures & Advisor - Dr Sham Singla & Dean, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Dr SPS Kochar.

After briefing about the event by Dr Piyush Gupta, the donning of White Coat Ceremonial Oath was given by Dr H N Mallick, Head of Department, Department of Physiology as per medical ritual.

Department of Ophthalmology, Faculty of Medicine & Health Sciences and Optometry, Faculty of Allied Health Sciences, SGT University, under the aegis of SGT Ophthalmological Association and Oculus Academy organised a workshop on “-𝐎𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐜 𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐜 𝐄𝐯𝐚𝐥𝐮𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐃𝐨𝐜𝐮𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐎𝐂𝐓:𝐆𝐥𝐚𝐮𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐚 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐍𝐨𝐧-𝐠𝐥𝐚𝐮𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐮𝐬 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬.

The workshop was aimed at upgrading the skills of Residents, Optometry Students and faculty of Ophthalmology & Optometry in the techniques of 𝐎𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐜 𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐜 𝐄𝐯𝐚𝐥𝐮𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐃𝐨𝐜𝐮𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐎𝐂𝐓:𝐆𝐥𝐚𝐮𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐚 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐍𝐨𝐧-𝐠𝐥𝐚𝐮𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐮𝐬 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬

The Guest Speaker 𝐃𝐫.𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐡 𝐒𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐝𝐯𝐚 ,𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟 𝐆𝐥𝐚𝐮𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐚 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐬,𝐑𝐈𝐎,𝐏𝐆𝐈𝐌𝐒,𝐑𝐨𝐡𝐭𝐚𝐤 has a rich teaching and clinical experience. He is Glaucoma Specialist and Cataract Surgeon of international repute. He has many publications in national and international Journals. She has many Presentations at national & international forums,as invited Guest Faculty.The workshop began with a lecture on the various aspects of the topic followed by Hands on Demonstration of all important and essential steps of OCT: evaluation and interpretation of glaucoma and Non-glaucomatous optic disc conditions.

The agenda of the workshop was to create awareness about the new guidelines about ECHO among young doctors & healthcare workers. Renowned speaker 𝐃𝐫. 𝐍𝐢𝐝𝐡𝐢 𝐑𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐥, MD (Pediatrics), FNB (Pediatric Cardiology) Head of the Department Artemis Hospital, Gurugram, Haryana, India, delivered lectures on various sub topics related to ECHO.
Organizing Chairperson, Dr. Pankaj Abrol, Professor & Head, Department of Pediatrics invited all the faculty members and PG students from Pediatrics and General Medicine departments of SGT Medical College to ensure maximum participation of related medical staff & dissemination of the knowledge amongst them. Some local pediatricians of Gurugram were also invited.

The workshop began with a lecture on the various aspects of the topic followed by Hands on Demonstration of all important and essential steps of interpretation of Fundus Fluorescein Angiography (FFA).

The Department of Pediatrics, FMHS SGT University conducted a Workshop on 𝗩𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲𝘀 (𝗩𝗣𝗗) in the Hospital Auditorium on 22 Feb, 2022.

The agenda of the workshop was to create awareness about the new guidelines about Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPD) among young doctors & healthcare workers. Renowned speaker 𝗗𝗿. 𝗕𝗶𝗻𝗱𝘂 𝗬𝗮𝗱𝗮𝘃, Surveillance Officer in WHO, delivered lectures on various sub topics related to Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPD). She talked about National Immunization schedule and explained where and how to store the vaccines.

After a brief inauguration by Prof Sham Singla, Advisor,Prof O P Kalra, Vice Chancellor, Prof Gen SPS Kochar, Dean-FMHS, Prof Dr.A.K.Khurana, Prof & Head, Dept of Ophthalmology, welcomed the dignitaries and guest faculty and highlighted the importance of this workshop on Automated Perimetry of Glaucoma Diagnosis.

The Guest Speaker Dr.Suneeta Dudey, Head Glaucoma Services, SCEH,Daryaganj, New Delhi, has a rich teaching and clinical experience. She is Glaucoma/Cataract Surgeon of international repute. She has many publications in national and international Journals. She has many Presentations at national & international forums, as invited Guest Faculty. The workshop began with a lecture on the various aspects of the topic followed by Hands on Demonstration of all important and essential steps of interpretation of automated field charts (HFA).

The Department of Pediatrics, FMHS SGT University conducted a Workshop on 𝗚𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆 in the Hospital Auditorium on 16th Feb 2022.

The agenda of the workshop was to create awareness about the new gastroenterology guidelines among young doctors & healthcare workers. Renowned speaker Dr. Neelam Mohan from a prestigious institute delivered lectures on various sub-topics related to Gastroenterology.

Organizing Chairperson, Dr. Pankaj Abrol Professor & Head, Department of Pediatrics invited all the neighboring medical colleges & IAP Gurugram members to ensure maximum participation & thereby dissemination of knowledge.

Our eminent speaker Dr. Neelam Mohan is Director of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Liver Transplantation at Medanta, The Medicity Hospital – Gurugram enlightened the audience with his interesting and informative session.

The Department of Pediatrics & Department of Pediatric nursing, SGT University are celebrating International childhood cancer Day (ICCD), today on 15th February 2022. ICCD is celebrated worldwide on this day, every year. It’s an awareness drive about the childhood cancer. We want to send the message that Childhood cancer is curable. Early diagnosis, early treatment at right place by a right doctor are the way to success. The target audience is medical and paramedical staff, and the general public visiting the hospital. Cancer patients on follow up and those admitted in the hospital shall also be participating.

International childhood cancer day was first observed in 2002. It was introduced by childhood cancer International involving more than 170 organizations.
The theme for the year 2022 is ‘Better Survival’ is achievable through your hands. The theme is particularly focused on the efforts made by the medical and paramedical teams serving the lives of these children. From giving drugs to maintaining a clean and hygienic environment and further giving love and affection to these children is all under the hands of the serving team.
ICCD celebration is aimed to raise awareness about Cancer, and encourage its prevention, detection, and treatment.

The survival of these children depends not only on timely treatment but also on psycho-social and emotional support. Keeping them cheerful and pain-free helps to decrease morbidity and increase the morale of the patients. The affectionate care we provide encourages them to go through these difficult times. Proper physical care, maintaining cannula site, adequate feeding, and wound care are all core areas to improve survival.

The day is marked to bring awareness about the ailments noted in those suffering or are the survivors of cancer. The day is also marked to show our support and solidarity towards these patients and their families. The target goal of WHO is to eliminate all pain and suffering of children fighting cancer & achieve at least 60 % survival for all children diagnosed with cancer around the world by 2030. At the mark of the 20th year of celebrating this day, our continuous efforts both in terms of specific and supportive care in a safe, healthy, and clean environment can help us reach our target goal.

Celebration of 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗟𝗲𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘀𝘆 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟮 by Deptt of Community Medicine & Dermatology.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗟𝗲𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘀𝘆 𝗗𝗮𝘆 in India is celebrated on 30 th of January every year. This year the theme was “𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗗𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆” On this occasion the Department of Community Medicine and Dermatology organised a Nukkad Natak on 31 st January for the faculty, staff, students and class 4 employees of SGT university. Nearly 120 persons witnessed and appreciated the messages conveyed through Nukkad Natak by the interns of Community Medicine about leprosy on Stigma, signs/symptoms, treatment and foot & hand care.

The workshop was aimed at upgrading the skills of Residents, Optometry Students and faculty of Ophthalmology & Optometry in the techniques of Comprehensive Evaluation of patients of Proptosis in both paediatric and adult age group. Orbit being a “𝗽𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗼𝗿𝗮’𝘀 𝗯𝗼𝘅”,it is always challenging to diagnose various orbital conditions which cause proptosis and a proper detailed evaluation of proptosis helps us to manage these patients adequately well in time both residents and faculty of Ophthalmology and Optometrist will upgrade their knowledge with this workshop.

The workshop was aimed at upgrading the skills of Residents, Optometry Students and faculty of Ophthalmology & Optometry in the techniques of Comprehensive Evaluation of patients of both Congential and Acquired Ptosis in both paediatric and adult age group. Ptosis being a common anomaly of the lids in the paediatric age group and as it can be a casue of amblyopia too, this topic needs special attention both at the level of optometrists and Ophthalmologists.

The Guest Speaker 𝗗𝗿.𝗩𝗶𝗻𝗼𝗱 𝗔𝗴𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘄𝗮𝗹 , Additional Prof,Dr R.P.Centre for Ophthalmic Sciences ,AIIMS,New Delhi, has a rich of teaching and clinical experience.He is Retina Specialist of national repute. He has more than 200 publications in indexed Journals,published one book and many book chapters. The workshop begin with a lecture on the various aspects of Optical Coherance Tomography, followed by Hands on Demonstration of all the important and essential Tips and Tricks used in the evaluation with OCT.

Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, SGT University, Gurugram through its department of Radiodiagnosis and Imaging on 14 December 2021 organised a guest lecture and device demonstration Workshop on “𝗛𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗶𝗾𝘂𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗕𝗶𝗼𝗽𝘀𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗗𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝘀” by Dr Amar Mukund, Professor(Interventional Radiology), Institute of Liver & Biliary Sciences, New Delhi.

The reason behind the event was providing new learning opportunities in the field to the trainee resident doctors and faculty members.
The event started with the felicitation of the eminent speaker Dr Amar Mukund, followed by the main academic events. The event was immensely informative and enriching for the attendees.
The resident doctors participated enthusiastically in the interactive workshop. The attendees were also given hands-on practice of various biopsy devices on phantoms.

Dr Reena Nayyar, Adviser to Management, Dr Shyam Singla, Professor Emeritus, Dr Sansar Chand Sharma, Dean; Dr Rajeev Sen Medical Superintendent; Prof (Brig) Chander Mohan, SM Director Hospital Administration and the Head of Radiodiagnosis Department, Dr JK Das, Additional Medical Superintendent, HoDs, faculty members & postgraduate resident doctors of clinical departments were present among another attendee. Dr Monu Sarin proposed the vote of thanks and said that continuing medical education with insights into the latest medical advances is the guiding philosophy of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at SGT. The radiology department plans to make such events a regular feature.

A medical camp was organised at Village Iqbalpur for diagnosis & treatment of patients and on educating the villagers about Omicron the new Covid virus infection and how to improve the immunity by good diet.

A total of 83 patients attended along with 24 faculty members from department of Community Medicine and Interns . The photos show the examination of patients, and education of villagers by the MPH students, faculty and the interns.

SGT University Budhera, Gurugram organized a camp at health camp at Caleb Institute situated in outskirts of Farrukh Nagar town.This is teaching and training vocational institute run by a trust for welfare of community. On dated 29.11.2021 the camp was attended by specialist from Obstetrics and Gynecology, Ophthalmology, General Medicine. Pediatrics, ENT and Dental specialist. In total 186 persons including children and women availed the services from SGT university medical specialists. Those patients requiring special care/investigation will be brought to SGT hospital for investigation and treatment on 30.11.2021 and free transport will be made available to them by SGT University management.

The team of doctors under guidance of dean FMHS and nodal officer was very enthusiastic to serve the people and in all 43 doctors, paramedical staff including interns served the community in camp. The management of Caleb institute appreciated the services by SGT hospital staff and thanked the management.

A hand on training workshop was organised by department of Pathology on 27th November at 09:30 h. Workshop was attended by all the faculty members and Post graduate students. The workshop was conducted by Dr. Monika Gupta, Associate Professor, department of Pathology, PGIMS Rohtak. Dr. Monika Gupta has a vast hands on experience of 7-8 years on running the flowcytometer & diagnosing hematolymphoid malignancies.

The first part of workshop was devoted to explaining the basic principle of flowcytometry including fluidics, optics & electronics. This was followed by an interactive session in which interesting hematolymphoid malignancies work discussed by showing flowcytometry dot plot charts.

Newer applications of flowcytometry were also discussed. Overall it was enriching experience for the junior faculty and PG Students.

A rally was organized in the SGT campus and village Iqbalpur , to create awareness amongst students, faculty, other staff members and villagers regarding prevention of diabetes. The rally was flagged off by Dean FMHS Dr. S C Sharma and Dr. M Bhattacharya HOD Community Medicine.

The department of Community Medicine has taken the responsibility of screening persons over 60 years in village Iqbalpur for hypertension & blood sugar (Diabetes ). The 7th semester MBBS Students went house to house with a questionnaire and referred those with some signs & symptoms of increased blood sugar for blood test ,to the medical camp organized there . A total of 83 males and females were screened of whom 13 and 24 respectively were detected with increased blood sugar and high blood pressure.

World rabies day event was organised on 28.9.2021 by department of community medicine, the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, SGT University, Gurugram. The event was registered with GARC on Global alliance for rabies control website.

Dr. Jagbir Malik Professor Community Medicine, FMHS, SGT University co-ordinated the whole activity. Transport ,material support banners, photography etc. was provided by SGT university.

The event was organised in village Chandu and village sarpanch Sh Kuldeep along with members of the community participated and made sitting arrangements for the participants. Students and interns along with faculty of the department of community
medicine contributed and assisted in making the event a successful event. A total of 68 persons participated (List Enclosed) Dean FMHS, Dr. Sansar Sharma was chief guest for the event and he enlightened the audience regarding rabies and its prevention. Dr. Madhuleeka Bhattacharaya-HoD Community Medicine department organized a question & answer session with the audience and she removed doubts particularly on use of red chillies application
on dogbite wounds.

Dr. Jagbir Malik Professor Community Medicine department made the participants aware regarding status of rabies in the world and India ,how rabies spreads categorization of animal bites.

Dr. Sangeeta Narang - Asst. Professor Community Medicine department made the participants aware regarding status of rabies in the world and India, how rabies spreads categorization of animal bites MPH Students from dept. of community medicine presented the posters prepared by them regarding causes of rabies and spread of rabies.
