While water is the most important drink to have in this excessive heat, here are some refreshing healthy drinks that MUST be a part of your summers to keep both your body (and mind) cool:
1. Coconut water: Mildly sweet but loaded with electrolytes, this makes for a great intra workout drink for replenishing the lost electrolytes

2. Buttermilk: Low in calories, so this can easily be a part of your day if you’re watching your weight. Add some jeera to enhance the benefits of buttermilk

3. Fennel seed water/variyali sherbet: This drink keeps your body heat in check, reduces acidity, and aids digestion that often goes for a toss in the summers

4. Green juice: If your appetite goes down during these months which is quite normal, add this green juice to your diet so that your daily dose of fibre is ensured. Add any vegetables of your choice (green or non green), add some flavour like mint or ginger and you’re good to go

5. Sattu: Made of sattu flour, you can make this sweet or savoury depending on your mood. High in protein and great for cooling the body.

1. Millets: Bajra, jowar, ragi are low glycemic cereals, high in fibre and rich in Vitamin B. These are going to make you feel full, help control your blood sugar levels and help you keep warm in winters

2. Dates: Naturally sweet, dates are a good source of iron. You could include Dates for instant energy and also when you're craving something sweet!

3. Leafy vegetables: Winter is an excellent time to load up on the greens like fenugreek, spinach, cabbage, colocasia and in turn load up on a variety of micronutrients and fibre

4. Nuts: These make for a great mid meal snack and also are a great source of vitamin E, magnesium and omega 3

5. Water: This one's going to help keep dry skin at bay, so don't forget to have at least 2 litres of water per day!
