Save the Children Philippines
Save the Children believes every child deserves a future. We ensure children’s unique needs are met and their voices are heard.
In the Philippines and around the world, we work every day to give children a healthy start in life, the opportunity to learn and protection from harm. When crisis strikes, and children are most vulnerable, we are always among the first to respond and the last to leave. We deliver lasting results for millions of children, including those hardest to reach. We do whatever it takes for children – every day and in times of crisis – transforming their lives and the future we share.
As Life Changers for Children, our fulfillment comes from working to build a world where all children can embrace their true selves!

Save the Children, in partnership with Wells Fargo, continues to support local entrepreneurs through the Financial Resilience towards Economic Recovery (FREER) Project!
In an entrepreneurship training for Community Savings Group (CSG) members in Navotas last May 25, participants built their confidence, resilience, and supportive networks.
The activity included comprehensive workshops, hands-on activities, and community asset mapping to help them capitalize on their valuable resources.
One of the program participants, Rhandz, shared his transformative experience, expressing that he learned a lot about entrepreneurship. He emphasized that FREER's business planning lectures made a significant impact on him as an aspiring entrepreneur.
"It made me fully equipped physically, mentally, and socially in taking business ventures. It might take a long way for me to become an entrepreneur, but with the knowledge from this training, I am seeing a brighter future in my business ahead of me," Rhandz said.
The FREER Project seeks to improve quality of life by providing people with financial knowledge, management skills, and resilience, enabling the community, especially women, to save money for business or emergencies.
Through the project, CSG members have significantly improved their businesses, dedicating their efforts to bettering their families, especially their children's lives. These success stories highlight the power of community and the drive to achieve more.
Together, let's foster a brighter future .

Child leaders from Loon, Bien Unido, Clarin, and President Carlos P. Garcia in Bohol organized and hosted their own Child Rights and Protection Symposium.
Through workshops and discussions, the young participants gained valuable insights into how to advocate for and safeguard their well-being in their respective barangays.
Candy Añana, a child leader from Bien Unido, said the child symposium empowers children in their community to know their rights.
“Most of the participants kasi hindi nila alam ang mga rights nila and it helps them widen their knowledge about child rights and child protection at pwede nila itong i-share sa mga siblings nila and friends,” she said.
["Most of the participants don't know their rights, and this helps them broaden their knowledge about child rights and child protection. They can also share this with their siblings and friends.]
The symposium signifies the culmination of their training in the localization program on child rights and protection, overseen by Save the Children and the Ranao Women & Children Resource Center, Inc. - RWCRC.
In April and May, these child leaders participated in various training covering effective advocacy and communication skills, gender mainstreaming, and leadership development.
This effort aligns with the localization goals of Republic Act No. 10821, commonly referred to as the Comprehensive Emergency Program for Children.
Some recipients of our conditional cash assistance are now finding additional support for their families and children by engaging in alternative livelihoods such as raising hogs and chickens 🐷🐔
According to them, this has been a significant help amidst the challenges brought by the el niño affecting their livelihoods.
In April, Save the Children, together with Western Samar Development Foundation, provided PhP10,000 in cash aid to 200 households in Brgy. Nacube and Brgy. Concepcion, Gandara, Samar.
They also received five drought-resistant seeds and agricultural training, aiming to help them improve their agricultural practices and enhance resilience against drought conditions.

Meet Rocky* (not his real name), a 9-year-old boy from Eastern Samar.
His parents are farmers whose crops, such as agitway (sunset aibika) and bulkas (camote tops), are frequently destroyed by typhoons and heavy rains.
Rocky's father also collects tarukog (armored sea leech) from the nearby sea, but even this source of livelihood is becoming scarce. Once abundant near the shore, these seashells are now found farther out at sea, likely due to warming waters.
When there are no vegetables to harvest and no tarukog to collect, Rocky's family often resorts to eating rice with salt.
Despite all these, Rocky remains committed to his studies as he walks hours to school through rain and heat. Read his story of determination.
On World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought, let's hear about Migeu's story, whose schooling is affected by El Niño.
Yet, for children like him, it's more than just ruined crops. They face uncertainty and shattered dreams as their education gets snatched away by these harsh weather conditions.

This , Save the Children Philippines highlights the importance of a father's role in creating supportive and safer spaces for children.
Through Project TaMBaYan (Tatay na Mapagkalinga sa Bahay at Samahayan) in Malabon City, the organization recognizes and addresses the issues and challenges faced by male-dominated groups such as tricycle drivers, especially in raising children.
Aside from learning children's rights, participating fathers and male caregivers are also introduced to the provisions of the Safe Spaces Act and concepts of road safety.
Through Human-Centered Design Thinking, Save the Children makes sure that we can get the possible solutions from the community that we want to support.

"We’re Defenders of Children’s Voice Society, of course, wala kaming inuurungan (we don't back down)!"
In celebration of the Philippine Independence Day, we spotlight the courageous Defenders of Children’s Voice (DCV) Society in Bayawan City, Negros Oriental 🇵🇭✊🏽
With the support of our "iKnow Human Rights and Citizenship" capacity-building program, the children and youth are proud that they are shaping their generation to be informed, engaged, and ready to make a difference.
For two days, the organization learned about child protection, participation, human rights, inclusion, and the UN Convention on Child Rights, strengthening their skills to work with the government.
The DCV Society is one of the four child-led groups that qualified for Save the Children Philippines' "Pondong Pambata," a project that funds child-led organizations advocating children’s rights.
Earlier in May, DCV Society and Save the Children underwent a co-designing Workshop to brainstorm and develop a project that answers their needs in the community.
The workshop resulted in the creation of a project titled “Children Fighting Violence Against Children,” which aims to raise the awareness of children on Online S*xual Abuse and Exploitation ( ) in four barangays in Bayawan City and roll out the iKnow Modules in their Children’s Summer Camp.
More about their story and work on our socials, soon!
This Philippine Independence Day 🇵🇭, let us recognize that children themselves have the power to break free from oppression and claim their rights.
Through the support of adults, especially parents who provide trust, open communication, and love, the young generation can thrive and hold the key to our nation's genuine liberation.
Malayo ang nararating ng suporta. Salamat sa paalala, Cartoonist ZACH 🏳️🌈❤️

1 in 5 children lack safe spaces to play.
Play heals through learning, life skills, and psychosocial well-being. It is not just a right but a necessity 🪁
It's more critical than ever that every child can realize and celebrate their universal right to play.

Save the Children and the USAID - US Agency for International Development 🇺🇸 participated in a community painting activity at San Julian Elementary School, Eastern Samar, as part of the "Pagpadayag han Obra han Kabataan" (Showcasing Children's Masterpiece).
The mural, titled "See the Unseen," was designed by children and depicts their concerns and hopes regarding teenage pregnancy, child labor, malnutrition, and inadequate parenting in the community.
During the activity, USAID's Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance Officer Ashley Adam delivered an inspiring message. She emphasized the mural's powerful impact and reminded the children of their vital role in creating systems and solutions that help them feel safe and secure.
The project was a collaborative effort with contributions from COPE, the local government of San Julian, and Eastern Samar State University, alongside the learners and teachers of San Julian Elementary School.
Save the Children and USAID also engaged with children and women's groups in the community through focus group discussions, gaining invaluable insights into the community's needs and the impact of the USAID-funded "ChildPro Community" project.
Celebrate the men of the hour. Give them the gift of fulfillment by transforming children's lives.
