Let's challenge ourselves to be who we really are - where will we start?

Happy ! We are closing out the week with words of wisdom from Nigerian author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie: "The problem with gender is that it prescribes how we should be rather than recognizing who we are."

"If someone asked me I would say ". A touch of inspiration, based on small acts of kindness, with great impact.

Number of FGM victims found to be 70 million higher than thought 05/02/2016

A shocking 200 million women around the world fall victims to this ritual practice. Development and gender issues are starting to look more and more intertwined to me. Worth reading.

John Lennon - Imagine HD 05/01/2016

Words of wisdom, by Martin Luther King:
”I’m concerned about a better World. I’m concerned about justice; I’m concerned about brotherhood and sisterhood; I’m concerned about truth. And when one is concerned about that, he can never advocate violence. For through violence you may murder a murderer, but you can’t murder murder. Through violence you may murder a liar, but you can’t establish truth. Through violence you may murder a hater, but you can’t murder hate through violence. Darkness cannot put out darkness; only light can do that”.

E momentul oportunitatilor.

Our very way of life needs restructuring - a transition from exploitation to preservation. Which means our behavior is going to have to radically change. It sounds like a lot, I know. Luckily, some people are already on it. Communities around the world are organizing and fighting to protect their land, water, and air.
Individual actions are not enough. Where do you draw the limit?

Cultural Diversity Manual | Anna Lindh Foundation 07/09/2015

Reflecting on the recent social and political actions taken for and against the asylum seekers reaching Europe, it has been my impression that there is much fear around what we may call "otherness" of the refugees and migrants who are looking to Europe for solidarity in achieving peace and freedom.
Probably the most feared aspect of this wave of migration is the religious aspect, so I decided to share a resource of a reputed Foundation, offering tools to educators and teachers in cultivating respect for pluralism particularly in religious terms.
Hope it proves useful to advance our efforts to educate peaceful future generations, who need not fear the diversity of our world, and who can start creating for us all a shared culture of freedom and peace, based on human rights and social justice.

Cultural Diversity Manual | Anna Lindh Foundation The Anna Lindh Foundation produced the manual ‘How to cope with diversity at school: teaching and learning about religious diversity’. The aim is to support students in learning about citizens from cultures and traditions other than their own. The Manual is principally aimed at teachers who are wor…
